        Allergic Identification for Ginkgo Kernel Protein in Guinea Pigs

        Ginkgo biloba L. can cause allergic reactions when consumed. In this paper, an allergy test to guinea pig was investigated. Guinea pigs were sensitized with 50 mg/mL of ginkgo kernel protein orally on days 1, 3, and 5, and intraperitoneally challenged with 100mg/mL of the protein on day 7 after the last sensitization. The volume of sensitization and challenge was 0.20mL/100 g weight. The results showed the average allergy grade for guinea pigs reached four and the allergy rate was 100%. The immunoglobulin G and E levels in sera were significantly higher than those in the controls. Footpads swelled distinctly, and the passive cutaneous allergy test manifested a positive response. There were inflammatory changes in the lungs and intestines. In conclusion, the present results may indicate that gingko kernel protein has an allergenic capacity.

        On the possibility of blue tensor spectrum within single field inflation

        We present a series of theoretical constraints on the potentially viable inflation models that might yield a blue spectrum for primordial tensor perturbations. By performing a detailed dynamical analysis we show that, while there exists such possibility, the corresponding phase space is strongly bounded. Our result implies that, in order to achieve a blue tilt for inflationary tensor perturbations, one may either construct a non-canonical inflation model delicately, or study the generation of primordial tensor modes beyond the standard scenario of single slow-roll field.

        Screening of Antioxidant and Antitumor Activities of Major Ingredients from Defatted Camellia oleifera Seeds

        Three major ingredients (saponin, protein, andpolysaccharide) were obtained from defatted Camelliaoleifera Abel seeds by sequential extraction. A series ofexperiments were conducted to compare the antioxidantand antitumor activities of these three major ingredients. The antioxidant activities of these ingredients were evaluatedby reducing power, hydroxyl, superoxide anion, and DPPHradical scavenging assays. All antioxidant tests showedthat the protein had the highest antioxidant activity amongthe three samples, and the antioxidant effects of proteinincreased in a dose-dependent manner. In vitro, the antitumoractivities of the three major ingredients against Hep G2cells at different concentrations were examined by MTTassay. The polysaccharide exhibited the highest potencyagainst Hep G2 cells, with an IC50 value of 5.826 μg/mL,followed by saponin (26.754 μg/mL). These findings suggestthat the protein and polysaccharide from defatted C. oleifera seeds exhibit significant antioxidant and antitumoractivities, respectively, which deserve further research.

        Preparation of anthocyanin-rich mulberry juice by microwave-ultrasonic combined pretreatment

        The work aims to study the process of microwave-ultrasonic combined treatment to obtain anthocyanin-rich mulberry juice. A Box-Behnken design was employed to analyze the effects of microwave time and citric acid content on the total phenol content, total anthocyanin content, hue, color intensity, DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities. Under the optimum conditions (microwave time of 46 s, citric acid addition of 273 mg/kg), the total phenol content, total anthocyanin content, the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities reached 4.24 mg GAE/mL, 3.29 mg C3G/mL, 4.59 mg TE/mL and 11.90 mg TE/mL, respectively. Subsequently, the mulberry juice was processed with ultrasound of different frequencies. It was found that low-frequency ultrasonic treatment (25 kHz) could significantly reduce the loss of total phenolic and anthocyanin monomers and improve the antioxidant capacity of mulberry juice during storage for five weeks. Overall, mulberry juice with microwave-ultrasonic pretreatment is a natural antioxidant.

        Color stability and degradation kinetics of anthocyanins in mulberry stirred yoghurt fermented by different starter cultures

        To evaluate the storage stability of anthocyanin in stirred yoghurt, mulberry juice and different starter cultures (S) were added into milk to investigate the color stability and degradation kinetics of anthocyanin. The result showed that the redness value decreased, while the brightness value increased, and the anthocyanin content decreased significantly from 1.47 ~ 1.86 to 1.01 ~ 1.19 mg/g. The degradation kinetics followed a first-order reaction. Principal component analysis showed that S2 and S6 were correlated with anthocyanins, S8 and S4 were correlated with a*. At the later stage, S4, S8 were correlated with a*, while S2, S4, S6 were correlated with anthocyanins. At 28th day, the anthocyanin content of S4 was 1.14 mg/g, which was not the highest, but the total score was the highest. Therefore, S4 was the best choice when the storage period is 28 days. This study provided technical support for the selection of a better starter for stirring yoghurt.

        Highly dispersed Ni-La catalysts over mesoporous nanosponge MFI zeolite for low-temperature CO2 methanation: Synergistic effect between mesoporous and microporous channels

        The mesoporous nanosponge MFI silicate zeolite was facilely fabricated by employing the long chainammonium as the structure-directing agent. The zeolite with both mesoporous and microporouschannels were selected as the support of Ni-La catalysts for methanation of CO2. Various techniques wereused to characterize the catalysts systematically. The effects of the La2O3 promotor and pore morphologyof the support on the catalytic performance were carefully investigated. Our study demonstrated that Lapromoter could be beneficial to the increase of the surface basicity and the enhancement of the metallicNi dispersion. This would intensify the processes of the CO2 chemisorption and H2 dissociation in CO2methanation. Besides, we also found that the catalyst supported on mesoporous nanosponge MFI zeoliteperformed higher activity and better long-term stability than the reference catalysts supported on bulkMFI and MCM-48, suggesting that the synergistic effect between the mesoporous and microporouschannels displayed unique advantages. Kinetic study revealed that both the nanosponge structure andLa2O3 promoter contributed to decreasing the reaction activation energy. Therefore, the present highlydispersed Ni-La catalyst over mesoporous nanosponge MFI zeolite promised a potential catalystcandidate for low-temperature CO2 methanation reaction.

        Fabricating Cu2O-CuO submicron-cubes for efficient catalytic CO oxidation: The significant effect of heterojunction interface

        In this work, the uniform Cu2O submicron-cubes were facilely synthesized by liquid phase reductionmethod. Then, the Cu2O submicron-cubes were further oxidized into Cu2O-CuO heterojunction with tunableCu2+/Cu+ ratios and CuO submicron-cubes by controlling the calcination temperature. The phasetransition period during calcination was real-time monitored by the in-situ XRD and in-situ DRIFTS. The obtained materials were investigated as the catalysts of CO oxidation. The results revealed thatthe Cu2O-CuO heterojunction catalysts performed much higher catalytic activities than the Cu2O andCuO counterparts. Because the synergistic effect of the heterojunction (Cu2+/Cu+) could increase the surfaceoxygen vacancy concentration. Furthermore, it was also found that only the Cu2O-CuO heterojunctionstructure with the appropriate Cu2+/Cu+ ratio behaved the optimum catalytic activity. The kineticstudies indicated that the apparent activation energy of CO oxidation was greatly affected by the Cu2+/Cu+ ratio. Therefore, these Cu2O-CuO submicron-cubes with heterostructure were considered as thepromising CO oxidation catalysts.

        The construction of the Ni/La2O2CO3 nanorods catalysts with enhanced low-temperature CO2 methanation activities

        In this work, the La(OH)3 nanorods were successfully synthesized by precisely regulating the parametersof the hydrothermal method. Then, a series of Ni-based CO2 methanation catalysts were fabricated via theincipient-wetness impregnation and deposition–precipitation methods by employing the La(OH)3 nanorodsas the supports. The influences of the support morphology and the preparation method on the metalsupportinteraction, Ni dispersion, and the surface basicity were carefully investigated based on varioustechniques, such as XRD, SEM, H2-TPR, CO2-TPD, XPS, ect. It was found that the rod-shaped La(OH)3 supportedcatalyst prepared by the deposition–precipitation method performed the optimum activity andstability. The reason for this could be derived from the confinement effect of the crystal plane of therod-shaped support, which would promote the formation of the strong metal-support interaction andthe construction of the Ni-La interface with high activity. Furthermore, the online-tandem TG-MS andin-situ DRIFTS technologies were used to investigate the thermal decomposition performance of the catalystprecursors in the calcination process and the reaction intermediates of the CO2 methanation. Therefore, the fundamental roles of support morphology and catalyst preparation method were expectedto direct the advancement of the Ni-based nanostructured catalysts with outstanding low-temperatureperformances.
