2D Simulation of laminar flow past a circular patch of cylinders
Kyoungsik Chang,George Constantinescu 한국전산유체공학회 2014 한국전산유체공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.10
In the present study, 2D direct numerical simulation is conducted on flow past a porous cylinder with a solid volume fraction (SVF) of 8.8%, 15.4% and 21.5%. The porous cylinder of diameter D contains 39, 64 and 95 smaller circular cylinders in a regular way. The diameter of the small cylinder is 0.048D. The simulations are conducted at a Reynolds number of 2,100 defined with the diameter D and bulk velocity of the uniform incoming flow. The contours of velocities and pressure as well as force vectors on small cylinders are presented with the comparison with reference results. The bleeding flow between small cylinders push away the separated shear layer (SSL) and these transverse and streamwise components contributes to longer formation and larger distance of SSLs. Force distributions and wake patterns on individual cylinder are specified for the variation of SVF.
