      • DOS Attack on the Availability of Cloud Network and its Avoidance Mechanism

        Data centers are usually under provisioned. This is not a problem in corporate data networks, but it can be a problem in cloud data networks. If an application is being served by that cloud infrastructure, the application owner must know the infrastructure limitations and should take some special measures to ensure QoS/availability of that application and to prevent against possible threats. In this paper we have discussed a new form of DoS that could take place in a cloud data network using the vulnerability caused by under provisioned network. We have also proposed a solution for this DoS attack, by which not only this attack will be detected, but can also be avoided in a very short time.

        Prioritized Multipath Video Forwarding in WSN

        The realization of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) has been fostered by the availability of low cost and low power CMOS devices. However, the transmission of bulk video data requires adequate bandwidth, which cannot be promised by single path communication on an intrinsically low resourced sensor network. Moreover, the distortion or artifacts in the video data and the adherence to delay threshold adds to the challenge. In this paper, we propose a two stage Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteeing scheme called Prioritized Multipath WMSN (PMW) for transmitting H.264 encoded video. Multipath selection based on QoS metrics is done in the first stage, while the second stage further prioritizes the paths for sending H.264 encoded video frames on the best available path. PMW uses two composite metrics that are comprised of hop-count, path energy, BER, and end-to-end delay. A color-coded assisted network maintenance and failure recovery scheme has also been proposed using (a) smart greedy mode, (b) walking back mode, and (c) path switchover. Moreover, feedback controlled adaptive video encoding can smartly tune the encoding parameters based on the perceived video quality. Computer simulation using OPNET validates that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms the conventional approaches on human eye perception and delay.

        Context-Aware Handover Skipping for Train Passengers in Next Generation Wireless Networks

        5G spectral efficiency requirements foresee net-work densification as a potential solution to improve capac-ity and throughput to target next-generation wireless net-works (NGWNs). This is achieved by shrinking the footprint ofbase stations (BSs), effective frequency reuse, and dynamic useof shared resources between users. However, such a deploymentresults in unnecessary handovers (HOs) due to the cell sizedecrements, and limited sojourn time on a high train mobility. In particular, when a train speedily passes through the BS radiocoverage footprints, frequent HO rate may result in seriouscommunication interruption impacting quality of service (QoS). This paper proposes a novel context-aware HO skipping thatrelies on passenger mobility, trains trajectory, travelling timeand frequency, network load and signal to interference and noiseratio (SINR) data. We have modelled passenger traffic flows incardinal directions i.e, north, east, west, and south (NEWS),in a novel framework that employs realistic Poisson pointprocess (PPP) for real-time mobility patterns to support mo-bile networks. Spatio-temporal simulations leveraging NEWSmobility prediction model with machine learning (ML) wheresupport vector machine (SVM) shows an accuracy of 94.51%. ML-driven mobility prediction results integrate into our proposedscheme that shows comparable coverage probability, and averagethroughput to the no skipping case, while significantly reducingHO costs.

        Application of Spiky Nickel Nanoparticles to Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

        The development of an efficient water splitting catalyst is a requirement for sustainable hydrogen production. Ni catalysts with different shapes were prepared using a solvothermal method for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The growth of the Ni particles was manipulated by controlling the reaction temperature and surfactant during the solvothermal reaction. The HER activity of the herein obtained Ni catalysts, namely semi-spherical, dendritic, and spiky nanoparticles were evaluated in alkaline conditions. Spiky Ni nanoparticles exhibited superior HER catalytic activity compared to that of spherical and dendritic Ni nanoparticles. The effect of morphology and electrochemical active sites has been fully investigated.

        신생기업 임직원들의 조직문화와 조직몰입의 상관관계에 관한 연구

        신생 기업은 선진국과 개발도상국에서 동시에 놀라운 속도로 확장하고 있다. 조직 및 인적 자원 관리 측면에서 청년 창업가들이 겪는 어려움이 많다. 결과적으로 과학계에서 거의 주목을 받지 못한 신생 기업을 조사하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 개발도상국(파키스탄)의 중소기업(SME) 수준에서 운영되는 신생 기업만을 고려했다. 정보는 대도시 라호르에 위치한 10개 업체를 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 수집했다. 연구변수 간의 가설관계가 사실인지 여부를 확인하기 위해 상관분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 제안된 모든 가설 사이에 긍정적이고 통계적으로 유의한 연관성을 발견했다. 본 연구의 결과는 산업계, 학계 및 정책 입안자에게 중요한 의미를 갖는다. Startup enterprises are expanding at an alarming rate in both industrialized and developing countries simultaneously. Many difficulties confront young entrepreneurs in terms of organizational and human resource management. As a result, it is critical to research startup enterprises because they have received little attention from the scientific community. In this study, we solely considered new startup enterprises operating at the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) level in a developing country (Pakistan). The information was gathered through a survey method from ten businesses located in the metropolitan metropolis of Lahore. The correlation analysis was conducted to determine whether or not the hypothesized relationship between research variables was true. We discovered a positive and statistically significant association between all of the proposed hypotheses. The findings of this study have significant implications for industry, academics, and policymakers.

        Facile and large-scale production of Ag nanoparticles for selective electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction

        Electrochemical CO2 reduction to carbon monoxide (CO) is immensely important for sustainable CO2 recycling. In this study, we established a facile synthetic method for large-scale production of Ag nanoparticles, which can be used for the selective electrochemical reduction of CO2 to CO. Thermal decomposition and reduction of AgNO3 produced Ag nanoparticles on a gram-scale in high yield (over 90%) with a homogeneous size distribution. The oleylaminecapped Ag nanoparticles were quasi-spherical with diameters of 9 2 nm. Ag nanoparticles are capable of electrochemical CO2 reduction to CO with high activity and stability. The CO selectivity of the catalyst was in the vicinity of 90% over a wide potential range and reached 94.2% at 1.4 V vs. RHE. The Ag nanoparticles showed good stability over 24 h. Different surface functional groups, for example, thiol and citrate were investigated to understand their influence on the variation in CO selectivity.

        정치적 불안정과 외국인 직접 투자: 신흥국 정부부패의 관점

        파키스탄은 남아시아의 상서로운 개발도상국이다. 국제투명성기구(Transparency International)의 2020년 부패인식지수 보고서에 따르면 파키스탄은 0(최저)에서 100(최고)까지의 정치적 안정성 측면에서 전 세계적으로 총 31점으로 124위, -2.25점으로 188위를 기록했다. 더 결정적으로, 파키스탄에 대한 외국인 직접 투자의 유입은 2008년과 2019년 사이에 감소했다. 정치적 불안정과 정부 부패는 외국인 직접 투자와 양의 선형 관계와 음의 선형 관계를 모두 가지고 있지만, 본 연구에서는 시간이 지남에 따라 정치적 불안정과 외국인 직접 투자 사이의 정부 부패의 완화된 영향을 테스트했다. 또한 같은 국가의 여러 정치 체제에서 정치적 불안정과 외국인 직접 투자 사이의 관계를 테스트했다. 따라서, 본 연구의 결과는 권위주의 정권이 민주적 정부 기간보다 더 많은 외국인 직접 투자를 유치했음을 시사하였다. 더욱이, 우리는 그 나라에서 정부의 부패가 심할 때 외국인 직접 투자가 적다는 것을 발견했다. 그러나 정부의 부패는 정치적 불안정과 외국인 직접 투자(FDI) 사이의 긍정적인 관계를 약화시켰다. Pakistan is a South Asian auspicious developing country. Based on the corruption perception index report 2020 by transparency international, Pakistan has ranked 124 with total scores of 31 globally and 188 ranks with a score of -2.25 in terms of political stability ranging from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest). More crucially, the inflow of foreign direct investment toward Pakistan has declined between 2008 and 2019. Though political instability and government corruption have both positive and negative linear relationships with foreign direct investment, we tested the moderating impact of government corruption between political instability and inward foreign direct investment over time. We also tested the relationship between political instability and inward foreign direct investment in different phases of political regimes in the same country. Our results suggested that authoritarian regimes attracted more inward foreign direct investment than that during democratic periods of government. Furthermore, we found that there was low inward foreign direct investment when government corruption was high in the country. However, government corruption weakened the positive relationship between political instability and inward foreign direct investment (FDI).
