Unifying darko-lepto-genesis with scalar triplet inflation
Arina, C.,Gong, J.O.,Sahu, N. North Holland 2012 Nuclear Physics, Section B Vol.865 No.3
We present a scalar triplet extension of the standard model to unify the origin of inflation with neutrino mass, asymmetric dark matter and leptogenesis. In presence of non-minimal couplings to gravity the scalar triplet, mixed with the standard model Higgs, plays the role of inflaton in the early Universe, while its decay to SM Higgs, lepton and dark matter simultaneously generate an asymmetry in the visible and dark matter sectors. On the other hand, in the low energy effective theory the induced vacuum expectation value of the triplet gives sub-eV Majorana masses to active neutrinos. We investigate the model parameter space leading to successful inflation as well as the observed dark matter to baryon abundance. Assuming the standard model like Higgs mass to be at 125-126 GeV, we found that the mass scale of the scalar triplet to be @?O(109) GeV and its trilinear coupling to doublet Higgs is @?0.09 so that it not only evades the possibility of having a metastable vacuum in the standard model, but also lead to a rich phenomenological consequences as stated above. Moreover, we found that the scalar triplet inflation strongly constrains the quartic couplings, while allowing for a wide range of Yukawa couplings which generate the CP asymmetries in the visible and dark matter sectors.
Performance-based reliability assessment of RC shear walls using stochastic FE analysis
Arina Nosoudi,Hooshang Dabbagh,Azad Yazdani 국제구조공학회 2021 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.80 No.6
Performance-based reliability analysis is a practical approach to investigate the seismic performance and stochastic nonlinear response of structures considering a random process. This is significant due to the uncertainties involved in every aspect of the analysis. Therefore, the present study aims to evaluate the performance-based reliability within a stochastic finite element (FE) framework for reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls that are considered as one of the most essential elements of structures. To accomplish this purpose, deterministic FE analyses are conducted for both squat and slender shear walls to validate numerical models through experimental results. The presented numerical analysis is performed by using the ABAQUS FE program. Afterwards, a random-effects investigation is carried out to consider the influence of different random variables on the lateral load-top displacement behavior of RC members. Using these results and through utilizing the Monte-Carlo simulation method, stochastic nonlinear analyses are also performed to generate random FE models based on input parameters and their probabilistic distributions. In order to evaluate the reliability of RC walls, failure probabilities and corresponding reliability indices are calculated at life safety and collapse prevention levels of performance as suggested by FEMA 356. Moreover, based on reliability indices, capacity reduction factors are determined subjected to shear for all specimens that are designed according to the ACI 318 Building Code. Obtained results show that the lateral load and the compressive strength of concrete have the highest effects on load-displacement responses compared to those of other random variables. It is also found that the probability of shear failure for the squat wall is slightly lower than that for slender walls. This implies that β values are higher in a nonductile mode of failure. Besides, the reliability of both squat and slender shear walls does not change significantly in the case of varying capacity reduction factors.

This article examines two questions: (1) whether the Production Sharing Contract in oil and gas sectors between different countries should be considered as an international agreement or a private agreement; and (2) how to formulate uplift in the PSC which contains the value of equity for investors and the State. In the Production Sharing Contract, there is problem of setting the tax on oil and gas sector particularly uplift policy relating to the taxation of income in the state revenue sources. This issue is related to the return of controversy of operational costs recognized by the contractor (cost recovery claim). This tax controversy gave rise to uplift that is only levied on oil and gas State owned Enterprises contracting partners in the scheme of the Joint Operating Body, especially in the old fields with advanced technology (Enhanced Oil Recovery). The controversy is related to the declining production and increased production costs that are recognized by the contractor.
Measuring Diversity and Fairness in Content Exposure: Case of Instagram Recommender System
Seonbin Kim,Arina Svetasheva,Keeheon Lee,Younah Kang 한국HCI학회 2024 한국HCI학회 학술대회 Vol.2024 No.1
Recommender Systems (RSs) became an important tool for improving user experiences in social media. As most of them are designed to retain users’ and increase platforms profit, such policy may contradict with values of diversity and fair attention distribution. This includes the issue of recommending favored content preferred by the majority, narrowing peoples’ perspectives, interests, limiting promotion opportunities for content creators. This study simulates user accounts with three different personas, analyzes diversity and fairness of content recommendations on Instagram. We revealed discrepancies in content suggestions, indicating a restriction in exposure to varied content and a challenge to overall fairness. Our observations suggest the potential benefits of implementing a layered approach in content coding and evaluating pairwise code similarities for human centric assessment for RSs.

Various industrial and agricultural waste have been using for bacterial cellulose (BC) production. This study aimsto apply the rice-washed water and tofu processing wastewater as a growth medium to synthesize BC replacing Hestrin-Schramm (HS) medium by Komagataeibacter xylinus with the addition of sodium glutamate. The fermentation was carriedout under static conditions for 5, 10, and 15 days at room temperature. The characteristics of BC were analyzed by SEM,XRD, and UTM for mechanical properties, whereas the yield was calculated from the dry weight. SEM images confirmed theformation of dense rod-shaped nanofibers configuration, and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that BC had a typicalcrystalline form of the cellulose Iα. The yield from rice-washed water (RW) and tofu processing wastewater (TW) wasslightly higher than from the HS medium. The highest yield of BC from RW, TW, and HS medium on the day 15 was 2.63 g/l,3.80 g/l, and 2.55 g/l, respectively. Therefore, rice-washed water and tofu processing wastewater can use as a replacement forthe role of Hestrin-Schraam (HS) medium. The yield increased when the medium was enriched with 1 % (w/v) sodiumglutamate, became 4.47 g/l, 4.63 g/l, and 3.37 g/l for RW, TW, and HS, correspondingly. However, the addition of sodiumglutamate lowered the tensile strength, Young’s modulus, and crystallinity. Both liquid wastewaters are considered as lowcostand sustainable alternative resources for BC production.

Valentina A. Ol'shevskaya,Andrey V. Zaytsev,Arina N. Savchenko,Alexander A. Shtil,정찬성,Valery N. Kalinin* 대한화학회 2007 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.28 No.11
Analyzed are recent advances in design of novel boronared conjugates of synthetic and natural porphyrins and chlorins. These compounds showed high efficacy as cytotoxic agents for tumor cells in culture and as phototoxins in photodynamic therapy of tumor xenografts. Thus, boronated porphyrins and chlorins emerge as promising class of anticancer agents with potentially multiple advantages: the chemotherapeutic drugs alone and photo- and radiosensitizers in binary treatments.
