Pyrolytic preparation of gold nanoparticle-coated taro carbon and its application for the selective detection of dopamine

        Ahammad, A. J. Saleh,Hasan, Md. Mahedi,Islam, Tamanna,Al-Shehri, Mohammod Oudah,Anju, Anjuman Nesa,Alam, Md. Kawsar,Kim, Jong-Pil,Qasem, Mohammed Ameen Ahmed,Aziz, Md. Abdul The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 NEW JOURNAL OF CHEMISTRY Vol.42 No.6

A highly selective and sensitive electrochemical method was developed for the detection of dopamine (DA), based on a gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-coated taro carbon (TC)-modified glassy carbon electrode (AuNP-TC/GCE). This novel AuNP-TC material was simply prepared by carrying out a pyrolysis of a composite material obtained by treatment of an acid-treated taro stem powder with HAuCl4. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to characterize the AuNP-TC material. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to characterize the modified electrode. The modified GCE exhibited a well-defined current response only toward the electrochemical oxidation of DA in a mixture solution of ascorbic acid (AA), DA, and uric acid (UA). This designed electrochemical sensor showed a linear response in the concentration range of 0.5 μM to 250 μM DA and a sensing limit (S/N = 3) of 0.25 μM was found. The sensor was also able to successfully detect DA in a dopamine hydrochloride injection (DAI). Moreover, the sensor exhibited excellent stability and reproducibility.

Preparation, In vitro, Preclinical and Clinical Evaluations of Once Daily Sustained Release Tablets of Aceclofenac

        Naha, A.,Usha, A.N.,Ranjith, A.K.,Musmade, P.,Manoj, K.,Anju, P.,Prasanna, S.,Mutalik, S. 대한약학회 2007 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.30 No.2

The objective of the present study was to develop ‘once daily’ sustained release tablets of aceclofenac by direct compression using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-K4M (HPMC). The solubility studies of aceclofenac were conducted to select suitable dissolution media. The drugexcipient mixtures were subjected to preformulation studies. The tablets were subjected to physicochemical, In vitro drug release and stability studies. Preclinical (anti-inflammatorv, analgesic, pharmacokinetic and toxicity studies) and clinical pharmacokinetic studies were conducted for optimized tablets. Based on the preformulation results, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), dicalcium phosphate and spray dried lactose (SDL) were selected as directly compressible vehicles. Because of the incompatibility with aceclofenac, SDL was excluded from the study. The physicochemical properties of tablets were found within the limits. By comparing the dissolution profiles with the marketed product, the tablet containing HPMC (45%) and MCC (30%) along with talc and magnesium stearate (1% w/w, each) (tablet B7) was considered as a better formulation. This tablet exhibited almost similar drug release profile in different dissolution media as that of marketed tablet. Tablet B7 was stable in accelerated conditions for 6 months. The composition of this tablet showed almost similar preclinical pharmacological activities compared to marketed tablet composition and did not exhibit any toxicity in rats and mice with respect to tested haematological and biochemical parameters along with bodyweight, food and water intake. The pharmacokinetic study in healthy human volunteers indicated that B7 tablet produced an extended drug release of drug upto 24 h as that of marketed product with almost identical pharmacokinetic parameters.

Association of immunotoxicological indices with lung cancer biomarkers in poultry, grape, and rose farming workers

        Maharjan Anju,Gautam Ravi,Acharya Manju,Jo JiHun,Lee DaEun,K C Pramod Bahadur,Lee Young-A,Kwon Jung-Taek,Kim HyoCher,Kim KyungRan,Kim ChangYul,Kim HyoungAh,Heo Yong 한국독성학회 2023 Toxicological Research Vol.39 No.4

Exposure to occupational hazards like dust, pesticides, diesel emission particles, or physical hazards in the agricultural sector is known to cause adverse health effects on farm workers. Our study aimed at addressing the association of immunomodulatory status with plasma levels of lung cancer biomarkers in farming population, attempting to recognition of vulnerable farming group. Blood samples from apparently healthy 51 chicken husbandry, 19 grape orchard, and 21 rose greenhouse workers were subjected to evaluate plasma levels of two representative lung cancer biomarkers, pro-gastrin releasing peptide (Pro-GRP) and cytokeratin fragment 19 (CYFRA 21-1). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells obtained from farmers were used for natural killer (NK) cell phenotyping and cytokines (interferon-gamma, IFN-γ and interleukin-13, IL-13) profiling in the culture supernatant. Compared to the rose greenhouse farmers, the grape orchard and chicken husbandry workers revealed a significantly upregulated plasma Pro-GRP and CYFRA 21-1 level. A low proportion of NK cells was observed among the female grape orchard workers and a lowered IFN- γ:IL-13 ratio was seen in the grape and chicken husbandry workers than the rose workers. Our findings imply that grape orchard and chicken husbandry workers have more disturbed immune homeostasis implicated with augmentation in the levels of lung cancer biomarkers than the rose greenhouse workers.

Development of Symmetrical Fault Detection During Power Swing Based on Entropy

        Devi R.,Kirthika A.,Divya Priyadharshini M.,Ladha Akash,Anju A.,Rajesh Kumar T.,Ganesh Prabhu S.,Varghese Lijo Jacob,Santhosh P. 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.3

This paper proposes the new technique for detecting symmetrical faults occurred during power swing. The proposed technique is simulated for the protection of two machine system, distribution system with distributed generation and WSCC 9-bus system in Matlab. Symmetrical fault detection during power swing is a critical issue. Hence, in this paper, modifi ed weighted wavelet packet entropy technique is proposed to detect symmetrical fault during power swing. This entropy criterion is applied to wavelet packet coeffi cients to enhance the energy of fault signals and to reduce the vector size of the wavelet packet transform coeffi cients. This technique provides better results irrespective of various fault locations, fault inception angle and power swing frequencies. This technique is compared with conventional scheme and the results are tabulated. Moreover, this technique is also able to detect asymmetrical faults with high impedance during power swing. Mathematical derivation support system performance through simulation.
