      • Carrying Capacity in Terms of the Sustainable Tourism : A Case in Saint Nicholas Museum in Myra-Demre

Ahmet AKTAŞ,Şeyla DEMİRCAN 세계문화관광학회 2011 Conference Proceedings Vol.12 No.-

In the archeological cultural inventory of Antalya Governorate a lot of religious structure remains were identified in Demre and Saint Nicholas Church is the cathedral. Nowadays the area known as Saint Nicholas Museum is visited especially from May to October during the DMK one day tours. Tourism implementer's aim of drawing tourists can pass over the carrying capacity of that district or area. The main goal of our study is to draw attention to the problems about carrying capacity which is faced in touristic areas and substantially affects sustainable tourism. In our study it was tried to obtain data to determine the relation between the density of visitors of the (Father Christmas Museum) Saint Nicholas Church in Demre and the carrying capacity of the area. The study includes the guides registered to Antalya Tourist Guides Guild. The questionnaire survey which was used to collect data was applied to 163 guides who were chosen by simple random sampling. Data analysis was done by SPSS 13.0 and t test and Anova test were used. Through a training program for guides which focuses on Saint Nicholas and the religious edifice remains from Demre the narrations and messages of the guides leading tours in the area should harmonize with the cultural tourism policy of the administration and should get the best out of belief tourism.

Traumatic Effects of the COVID-19 Outbreak in Middle School Students and Caregivers

        Merve Aktaş,Terzioğ,lu,Ahmet Bü,ber 대한신경정신의학회 2021 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.18 No.6

Objective To investigate the traumatic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on middle-school students and their parents. Methods This epidemiological cross-sectional study was conducted with middle-school students in Denizli. A questionnaire consisting of the IES-R, CRIES-13 and a sociodemographic data form was delivered online. A total of 1059 participants who fully completed the questionnaire were included for analysis. Results The IES-R total and subdimension scores and the CRIES-13 scores were found to be significantly higher in families with an income level of ≤2,500 TL. The CRIES-13 scores of children were found to be significantly higher in divorced families. No statistically significant difference was determined between the IES-R total and subdimension scores of the parents who were healthcare workers and the CRIES-13 scale scores of their children. Conclusion A statistically significant, positive, moderate relationship was found between the IES-R scale total and subdimension scores of parents and the CRIES-13 scale scores of children. A low socioeconomic level was seen to increase the prevalence of anxiety in adults and adolescents. The children of divorced families were found to be at higher risk of PTSD. Successful management of mental health symptoms in parents will reflect positively on the mental health status of their children.

Increased Serum Level of P-Selectin in the Patients with Lichen Planus

        Teoman Erdem,A.Ihsan Gulec,Akin Aktas,Abdulkadir Yildirim,Ahmet Kiziltunc 연세대학교의과대학 2004 Yonsei medical journal Vol.45 No.2

Lichen planus (LP) is a common, pruritic and inflammatory disease of the skin, hair follicles and mucous membranes. Immunologic mechanisms, especially cell-mediated immunity, play a major role in triggering the clinical expression of the disease. P-selectin is an adhesion molecule present within endothelial cells and mediates endothelial-leukocyte interactions. Therefore, it is considered that P-selectin plays an important role in LP. The aim of our study is to research the relation between P-selectin and LP. Serum P-selectin levels were determined with the enzyme- linked immunosorbent sandwich assay method in sera from 40 LP patients and 40 healthy controls. The serum levels of P-selectin were statistically significantly higher in the patients than in healthy controls (p<0.05), in female patients (39.32+/-11.34pg/ml) than in male patients (31.93+/-9.83 pg/ml) (p<0.01), and in the patients with eruptive form (40.27±9.32pg/ml) than in those with the localised (32.83±9.93 pg/ml) and hypertrophic (31.72±8.39pg/ml) forms (both p<0.01). In conclusion, we found a meaningful relation between LP and serum P-selectin levels.

The Effect of Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 on Recovery of Facial Nerve Crush Injury

        Asuman Feda Bayrak,Yuksel Olgun,Ayla Ozbakan,Safiye Aktas,Can Ahmet Kulan,Gonca Kamaci,Emine Demir,Osman Yilmaz,Levent Olgun 대한이비인후과학회 2017 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.10 No.4

Objectives. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of locally applied insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) on the recovery of facial nerve functions after crush injury in a rabbit model. Methods. The rabbits were randomly assigned into three groups. Group 1 consisted of the rabbits with crush injury alone; group 2, the animals applied saline solution onto the crushed facial nerve and group 3, IGF-1 implemented to the nerve in the same manner. Facial nerve injury was first electrophysiologically studied on 10th and 42nd days of the procedure. The damage to the facial nerves was then investigated histopathologically, after sacrification of the animals. Results. In the electrophysiological study, compound muscle action potential amplitudes of the crushed nerves in the second group were decreased. In pathological specimens of the first and second groups, the orders of axons were distorted; demyelination and proliferation of Schwann cells were observed. However, in IGF-1 treated group axonal order and myelin were preserved, and Schwann cell proliferation was close to normal (P<0.05). Conclusion. Local application of IGF-1 in a slow releasing gel was found efficacious in the recovery of the facial nerve crush injury in rabbits. IGF-1 was considered worthy of being tried in clinical studies in facial nerve injury cases.
