To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the efficacyand safety of prophylactic tranexamic acid (TXA) versus a control (placebo or no treatment) during hysterectomy forbenign conditions. Six databases were screened from inception to January 23, 2022. Eligible studies were assessed forrisk of bias. Outcomes were summarized as weighted mean differences and risk ratios with 95% confidence intervalsin a random-effects model. Five studies, comprising six arms and 911 patients were included in the study. Two andthree studies had an overall unclear and low risk of bias, respectively. Estimated intraoperative blood loss, requirementfor postoperative blood transfusion, and requirement for intraoperative topical hemostatic agents were significantlyreduced in a prophylactic TXA group when compared with a control group. Moreover, postoperative hemoglobinlevel was significantly higher in the prophylactic TXA group than in the control group. Conversely, the frequencyof self-limiting nausea and vomiting was significantly higher in the prophylactic TXA group than in the control group. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of surgery duration, hospital stay, and diarrhearate. All the RCTs reported no incidence of major adverse events in either group, such as mortality, thromboembolicevents, visual disturbances, or seizures. There was no publication bias for any outcome, and leave-one-out sensitivityanalyses demonstrated stability of the findings. Among patients who underwent hysterectomy for benign conditions,prophylactic TXA appeared largely safe and correlated with substantial reductions in estimated intraoperative bloodloss and related morbidities.

The research domain of underwater communication has garnered much interest among researchers exploring underwater activities. The underwater environment differs from the terrestrial setting. Some of the main challenges in underwater communication are limited bandwidth, low data rate, propagation delay, and high bit error rate (BER). As such, this study assessed the underwater acoustic (UWA) aspect and explored the expression of error performance based on t-distribution noise. Filter orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing refers to a new waveform candidate that has been adopted in UWA, along with turbo and polar codes. The empirical outcomes demonstrated that the noise did not adhere to Gaussian distribution, whereas the simulation results revealed that the filter applied in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing could significantly suppress out-of-band emission. Additionally, the performance of the turbo code was superior to that of the polar code by 2 dB at BER 10-3.

The study was carried out to explore the effects of replacing wheat straw with fungal treated wheat straw as an ingredient of total mixed ration (TMR) on the growth performance and nutrient digestibility in Nili Ravi buffalo male calves. Fungal treated wheat straw was prepared using Arachniotus sp. Four TMRs were formulated where wheat straw was replaced with 0 (TMR1), 33 (TMR2), 67 (TMR3), and 100% (TMR4) fungal treated wheat straw in TMR. All TMRs were iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous. The experimental TMRs were randomly assigned to four groups of male calves (n = 6) according to completely randomized design and the experiment continued for four months. The calves fed TMR2 exhibited a significant improve in dry matter intake, average daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio and feed economics compared to other groups. The same group also showed higher digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, neutral-, and acid detergent fibers than those fed on other TMRs. It is concluded that TMR with 33% fungal-treated wheat straw replacement has a potential to give an enhanced growth performance and nutrient digestibility in male Nili Ravi buffalo calves.

Several new spiro compounds were synthesized via one-pot ternary condensation of isatin, malononitrile and each of thiobarbituric acid, barbituric, 3-methyl-pyrazolin-5-one, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazolin-5-one, acetylacetone, benzoylacetone, ethyl acetoacetate, phenacyl cyanide or ethyl-cyanoacetate dimer. Structures and reaction mechanisms were reported and supported via a second synthetic route.
Efficient single-pass frequent pattern mining using a prefix-tree

The FP-growth algorithm using the FP-tree has been widely studied for frequent pattern mining because it can dramatically improve performance compared to the candidate generation-and-test paradigm of Apriori. However, it still requires two database scans, which are not consistent with efficient data stream processing. In this paper, we present a novel tree structure, called CP-tree (compact pattern tree), that captures database information with one scan (insertion phase) and provides the same mining performance as the FP-growth method (restructuring phase). The CP-tree introduces the concept of dynamic tree restructuring to produce a highly compact frequency-descending tree structure at runtime. An efficient tree restructuring method, called the branch sorting method, that restructures a prefix-tree branch-by-branch, is also proposed in this paper. Moreover, the CP-tree provides full functionality for interactive and incremental mining. Extensive experimental results show that the CP-tree is efficient for frequent pattern mining, interactive, and incremental mining with a single database scan.

Background: HCV is a major global health problem. IL-27 is a member of the IL-6/IL-12 cytokine family with a broad range of anti-inflammatory properties. Recent studies highlighted the effect of a SNP in the IL-27 promoter region on modulating the progression of infectious diseases and individual responses to therapy. Aim of the work: The present study investigated the potential role of (-964 A/G) SNP in the promoter region of IL-27p28 gene (alleles rs153109) on the outcome of HCV infection among genotype 4a infected patients. Materials and Methods: HCV genotyping confirmed that all of the HCV-infected patients had genotype 4a infection. Genomic DNA was extracted from 111 patients with chronic HCV infection, 42 spontaneous resolvers (SR) and 16 healthy controls. IL- 27p28.rs153109 genotyping was assessed using PCR-RFLP then confirmed by DNA sequencing. Results: The frequency of IL-27-p28.rs153109AA, AG, and GG genotypes among chronically infected subjects were 74.8 %, 25.2%, and 0% while among the SR, they were 57.1%, 35.7%, and 7.14%, respectively. Our data show the unique presence of G/G genotype in the SR group (3 patients; 7.14%). Moreover, the "G" allele frequencies among chronic and resolved subjects were 12.6% and 25.0%, respectively (p=0.0136). Importantly, subjects with the GG genotype were more likely to clear their HCV infection than those with the AA genotype (p=0.0118). Conclusions: HCV genotype 4a subjects with the IL-27-p28.rs153109 A/G and G/G genotype were more likely to clear their HCV infection. Therefore, we propose IL- 27p28.rs153109SNPas a genetic biomarker for predicting HCV infection outcome.

Precipitation and purification of amylase secreted by Streptomyces aureofaciens 77 in liquid inorganic salts-starch medium under the optimum conditions were carried out. Ammonium sulphate fractionation was used to precipitate amylase in cell free culture filtrate. (NH/sub 4/)/sub 2/ SO/sub 4/ at a concentration of 50-70% saturation gave the highest enzyme yield. The obtained precipitates were redissolved in phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) and subjected to dialysis. The dialyzed enzyme preparation was applied to DEAE-cellulose column chromatography which resulted in an increase of purification up to 59.48 fold. A further step of purification was done by applying the obtained purified sample to Sephadex-G200 column chromatography which resulted in ann increase of purification up to 73. 92 fold. The results clearly indicated that the isolated amylase from S. aureofaciens 77 was only on type.

Background: Valproic acid (VPA) is a potent anticancer and antiangiogenic agent. However, design and synthesis of chemical derivatives with improved antiangiogenic and anticancer activities are still necessary. In this study a library of novel derivatives of VPA was synthesized and tested. Methods: A human liver cancer cell line (HepG2) and a human normal embryonic kidney cell line (HEK 293) were exposed to various concentrations of VPA derivatives for 24 hours and cell viability was checked by MTT colorimetric assay. Anti-angiogenic properties were evaluated in transgenic zebrafish embryos. Results: N-valproylglycine derivatives suppressed survival almost 70% (p value 0.001) in HepG2 cells but only 10-12% in HEK 293 cells (p value 0.133). They also suppressed angiogenic blood vessel formation by 80% when used between $2-20{\mu}M$ in zebrafish embryos. Valproic acid hydrazides showed moderate level of anticancer activity by affecting 30-50% (p value 0.001) of cell viability in HepG2 cells and 8-10% in HEK293 cells (p value 0.034). Conclusion: The majority of compounds in this study showed potent and stronger antiangiogenic and anticancer activity than VPA. They proved selectively toxic to cancer cells and safer for normal cells. Moreover, these compounds inhibited developmental angiogenesis in zebrafish embryos. Based on the fact that liver is a highly vascularized organ, in case of liver carcinoma these compounds have the potential to target the pathological angiogenesis and could be an effective strategy to treat hepatocellular carcinoma.

Tribological performance of diamond-like carbon (DLC) and Si doped DLC (Si-DLC) films on Ti-6Al-4V under bovine serum as well as water and ambient air condition has been studied in terms of surface modification with O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma treatment for superhydrophilic surface. A tribo-test revealed that bovine serum significantly enhanced the tribological performance on all DLC surfaces in comparison with those under water or in air medium. Especially, O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma treated Si-DLC coatings with superhydrophilic nature were found to lower the wear and increase coating stability associated with macromolecules especially proteins in the bovine serum and their interactions with surfaces.
