Neuro-fuzzy model of concrete exposed to various regimes combined with De-icing salts

Ahmed Ghazy,Mohamed. T. Bassuoni 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2018 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.21 No.6

Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) can be efficient in modelling non-linear, complex and ambiguous behavior of cement-based materials undergoing combined damage factors of different forms (physical and chemical). The current work investigates the use of ANFIS to model the behavior (time of failure (TF)) of a wide range of concrete mixtures made with different types of cement (ordinary and portland limestone cement (PLC)) without or with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs: fly ash and nanosilica) under various exposure regimes with the most widely used chloride-based de-icing salts (individual and combined). The results show that predictions of the ANFIS model were rational and accurate, with marginal errors not exceeding 3%. In addition, sensitivity analyses of physical penetrability (magnitude of intruding chloride) of concrete, amount of aluminate and interground limestone in cement and content of portlandite in the binder showed that the predictive trends of the model had good agreement with experimental results. Thus, this model may be reliably used to project the deterioration of customized concrete mixtures exposed to such aggressive conditions.

Prophylactic tranexamic acid to reduce blood loss and related morbidities during hysterectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

        Ahmed Abu-Zaid,Saeed Baradwan,Ehab Badghish,Rayan AlSghan,Ahmed Ghazi,Bayan Albouq,Khalid Khadawardi,Nora F AlNaim,Latifa F AlNaim,Meshael Fodaneel,Fatimah Shakir Abualsaud,Mohammed Ziad Jamjoom,Abdul 대한산부인과학회 2022 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.65 No.5

To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the efficacyand safety of prophylactic tranexamic acid (TXA) versus a control (placebo or no treatment) during hysterectomy forbenign conditions. Six databases were screened from inception to January 23, 2022. Eligible studies were assessed forrisk of bias. Outcomes were summarized as weighted mean differences and risk ratios with 95% confidence intervalsin a random-effects model. Five studies, comprising six arms and 911 patients were included in the study. Two andthree studies had an overall unclear and low risk of bias, respectively. Estimated intraoperative blood loss, requirementfor postoperative blood transfusion, and requirement for intraoperative topical hemostatic agents were significantlyreduced in a prophylactic TXA group when compared with a control group. Moreover, postoperative hemoglobinlevel was significantly higher in the prophylactic TXA group than in the control group. Conversely, the frequencyof self-limiting nausea and vomiting was significantly higher in the prophylactic TXA group than in the control group. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of surgery duration, hospital stay, and diarrhearate. All the RCTs reported no incidence of major adverse events in either group, such as mortality, thromboembolicevents, visual disturbances, or seizures. There was no publication bias for any outcome, and leave-one-out sensitivityanalyses demonstrated stability of the findings. Among patients who underwent hysterectomy for benign conditions, prophylactic TXA appeared largely safe and correlated with substantial reductions in estimated intraoperative bloodloss and related morbidities.

Improving productivity of mulberry trees and silkworm, Bombyx mori L., using vermicompost application

        ( Usama M. Ghazy ),( Tahia A. Fouad ),( Ghada M. Ahmed ) 한국잠사학회 2020 International Journal of Industrial Entomology Vol.40 No.2

Vermicompost, manure, compost and organic fertilization are ecofriendly. Nowadays, many products resulted from sericulture consumed by humans such as mulberry leaves, fruits, mulberry tea, silk and natural silk cosmetics. Soil applications of three treatments with vermicompost (0.5, 1 and 2 tons per 0.42 hectare) and recommended rate of mineral fertilizers of nitrogen phosphorus potassium were used for investigation. Impact of fertilization on mulberry plant traits of moisture, number of shoots/tree, total shoots length/tree, number of leaves/shoot, number of leaves/ (100g), leaf yield/tree and leaf yield of fadden/season were recorded. In addition the effect of fertilization on larval and cocoon characters of young instar duration, fifth instar duration, total larval duration, larval mortality percentage, weight of third instar larvae, weight of fourth instar larvae, weight of fifth instar larvae, fresh cocoon weight, fresh shell weight, pupae weight, cocoon shell ratio, silk productivity, cocooning percentage, pupation ratio, number of cocoons/ liter, crop cocoons by number, crop cocoons by weight, fecundity and fertility. Using vermicompost treatment was enhancing plant characters. Treatments of V3, V2 and V1 were shortage young, fifth and larvae durations. Mostly feeding silkworm during the whole larval duration on treated mulberry leaves with vermicompost improving the traits average. Using vermicompost for fertilization by rate of V3 and V2 is better than others for cocoon characters for females and males.V3 and V2 of vermicompost per 0.42 hectare is recommended for rearing mulberry silkworm instead of mineral fertilization.

      • Prevalence of Cigarette Smoking Usage among Adolescent Students in Northern Saudi Arabia

Algorinees, Rakan Mosa,Alreshidi, Ibrahim Ghazy Kiran,Alateeq, Mohammed Fahad Mohammed,Alghuraymi, Abdullah Abdulaziz Salem,Alfayez, Adel Ahmed Abdulrahman,Almuzaini, Fahad khaled Fahad,Alsaif, Mohamm Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.8

Background: Cigarette smoking is a major public health issue in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in recent years, particularly among adolescents. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cigarette smoking usage among adolescent students in the north of the country. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study investigated 305 adolescent students from the Northern KSA population, their ages ranging from 11 to 19 years old. Results: Of the 287 respondents, 56/287(19.5%) were found to be current smokers. Of the 56 current smokers, 14/52 (27%), 29/52 (55.8%), and 9/52 (17.2%) smoked 1-3, 4-10 and 11+cigarettes/day, respectively. For duration most had smoked for 26-36 months. Conclusions: The findings of the present study indicate that cigarette smoking use is still an important risk behavior among adolescent students. The findings of this study found a significant association of cigarette smoking usage and adolescents various believes and attitude for initiation of smoking and perception toward knowledge of other factors that contribute to the burden of tobacco use.

A New Commodity Distribution Approach Based on Asymmetric Traveler Salesman Using Ant Colony Algorithm

        Tua Halomoan Harahap,Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra,Sulieman Ibraheem Shelash Al-Hawary,A. Heri Iswanto,Noor Mohammed Ahmed,Yousra Mahdi Hasan,Saad Ghazi Talib,Purnima Chaudhary,Yasser Fakri Mustafa 대한산업공학회 2022 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.21 No.3

The traveling salesman problem is one of the most well-known hybrid optimization problems. It is one of the (NP-complete) problems that its various applications have theoretically and operationally attracted the attention of re-searchers. Given that the existing optimization methods to solve such problems include many variables and constraints and reduce their practical efficiency in solving problems with larger dimensions, we have seen the use of algorithms in recent decades. In this research, after determining a linear programming model for the asylum seeker problem with asymmetric distances and solving it in Lingo software, I used two ant cloning algorithms and a forbidden search algorithm to solve the problem in large dimensions. By adjusting the parameters of the two algorithms using the Taguchi method to prove the efficiency of the two algorithms, we compared their results by solving the linear programming model in small-dimensional problems. Then, to compare the results and execution time of the two algorithms, we solved the problem in medium and large dimensions.
