This study analyzed journal articles and theses for degree published from 1994 to 2008 in order to study the trends of supervision research in Korea. For this study, National Assembly Library were selected; and 1478 journal articles and theses for degree were selected to be analyzed. To analyze journal articles and theses for degree, a content analysis was applied, in which they were coded one of eight topic areas. According to the content analysis, there are clear evidences that journal articles have more various academic ranges than theses for degree; on the contrast, theses for degree have more succeeded in classifying the school grouping system than journal articles; journal articles have more deeply studied in educational policy and system related to supervision; however, theses for degree are more detailed in teacher's participating to develop their learning and teaching ability in school. In order to develop teachers and school inspectors's ability in supervision, various measures and contents should be provided encouraging to participate actively in the whole process of the supervision; to develop teachers and school inspectors's ability in supervision is needed for the betterment of teacher's teaching ability. In other words systematic and periodic retraining are necessary for teachers and school inspectors to realize the significance of the supervision and to go with the momentous change of Korean middle and high school system.
