Vol.64 No.-

Cheongma's pro-Japanese activities have become a core issue in the recent discussions of his literary works. However, the status of his poems keep stable. Although he did suspicious pro-Japanese activities and his works could be judged by it, counter-argument would be still possible as his pro-Japanese activities could be quite insignificant compared with other writers who did it. This study allows the circumstance of the pro-Japanese issue in his poems and focuses on the meaning of 'extreme' and 'limit' revolved around 'essence of life' which is the main keyword of his poems in order to define the main nature of his poems. Also, this study mainly focused on Danjang which he expressed his thoughts in quite straightforward way and created like series-poem for centralizing the discussion. As a result of the study, 'the life' appeared in Cheongma's poems implies a weak and small existence. In addition, it is only existential life which can not be redeemed by religious God. 'Being thrown' in existential awareness means the process of self-awareness, and it leads to the process to realize the limitation of human existence. On the process, human existence is placed in experimental position as the object of 'extreme' so that it experiences human being's natural existential awareness. Meanwhile, 'extreme' in Cheongma's poems can be classified in three patterns. In Flag, 'extreme' is expressed as 'infinity' which shows vertical distance to spatial object. In this case, 'extreme' which is formed in the process of being overwhelming and admiring by the object's status and authority rather than being reconciliated and harmonized with the object in equal position shows psychological condition of the surrendered poetic ego to 'greatness of extension'. In the second pattern, a spatial distance makes 'greatness of extension' by having the horizontality of 'extreme' and Ulleungdo is a good example of it. In this case, the maximized spatial distance can gain vitalizations of meanings but it also builds the impossibility of contact in realistic condition so that it becomes the cause of lack of reality. This kind of poets express not vulgar reality and marginal life but human natural feelings of seeking immortal object. It proves the reason why clear historical awareness and realistic participation are limited in his works. The last pattern, the most intensive method, is conceptional 'extreme'. It shows that the attempt to overcome the 'limit' which is set up and surrounded by itself will be failed. In other words, an existential being denigrates itself and reveals 'the will of nihility' as it connotes antinomy of being stuck in reality but still pursuing ideal. Also, the will of transcendence can be understood with Cheongma's romantic character and it raise the point of not having clear historicity and concreteness as a result of lack of reality by seeking ideal overcome. Therefore, the poems which are suspected as pro-Japanese activities could be created because of his unclear historical consciousness and realistic perspective. Also, it could be carefully considered that pursuing 'extreme' may prove the disconnection of clear pro-Japanese activity. However, an in-depth study needs to be followed in order to make the decisive conclusion.

Vol.23 No.3

Objectives This paper is a plan to understand the ‘confirmation bias’ thinking prevalent in our society and implement ethical education by using Lee Mun-yeol's short story <Our Twisted Hero>. Through this, it has the purpose of upholding the right ethics and cultivating the transmitted thoughts. Methods In this text analysis, I would like to apply J. Lacan's ‘desire theory’. Lacan's theory that human unconsciousness and consciousness form a dialectic like a Möbius strip centered on the imaginary and symbolic worlds is a representative theory that traces the fictions of the human mental world through the egocentric thoughts and desires inherent in the human mind. to be. Results It is possible to know what principle ‘confirmation bias’ can be substituted into human unconsciousness and consciousness, and how it is related to human ethics. Therefore, you can learn a sound critical mind and ethics. Conclusions Through this study, we understand the false principle of ‘confirmation bias’ and understand the human mental structure. In addition, it is judged that there will be an educational effect in terms of understanding the objective structure of ethical consciousness and self-identity that human beings must have, and understanding the conditions of healthy thinking.

Vol.50 No.-

This study is about lyricism of Shin, Dong-Yeoup"s poem, who is usually considered as a realism oriented poet. Generally, a realism oriented poet is a writer who participates in historical/public affairs, and expresses their point of views on the affairs through their poems. Lyricism is normally regarded as an opposite feature of realism oriented poem. So, the discovery of lyricism in Shin, Dong-Yeoup"s poem means that we need various views in order to explain one"s poem.   Also, lyric study of Shin, Dong-Yeoup which has been ignored in this aspect of his poem shows the possibility of acceptance of both extremes. Specifically, Korean people encountered modernism in 1950"s and 1960"s at the first time. The experience brought division of tradition and modernity which never can be met. However, Shin, Dong-Yeoup included the two different concepts in his poems. It means that he identified himself with a movement against the power of foreign country. On the other hand, he also focused on recurrence of tradition in the same breath. The acceptance of such two extreme worlds leaded him to the poet as a realist and lyricist at once. Therefore, I extract below conclusion in the perception of history and lyricism   First of all, the titles of his poem have a specific pattern of phrase or clause. It suggests that his poem has descriptive feature which is a useful technique for describing a fact. The thing which his descriptive poems have lyricism implies that lyricism is a intrinsic character of his poem.   Secondly, his poem has a form of reminiscences which is related to lyricism. Especially, recurrence of tradition or past-oriented attitude are mainly used for expressing lyricism. As a result, the intention of Shin, Dong-Yeoup"s poem is recurrence of tradition, and the natural disposition of his poem is lyricism.   Thirdly, another feature of his poem is deviation from ideologies. Lyricism seems to be the general character of the poems which deviate from ideologies. It will be impossible to say that Shin, Dong-Yeoup"s poem does not have any ideologic side, but it can not be denied that his poem has lyricism as much as ideologic part.   Finally, Shin, Dong-Yeoup not only wrote about historical consciousness and social issues but also expressed personal emotions and feelings. The lyric feature will be obvious when his poems are read from a point of view of deviation from ideologies.   To sum up, it will be said that Shin, Dong-Yeoup lived different two worlds and wrote them at the same time. One is the life of an intelligent who could not deny the social problems in his period. However, the other is the life of a lyric poet who describes feeling. Therefore, comparative study of his different two worlds should be investigated more in the future.

Vol.33 No.-

The predominant goal of literature researches to decode meaning from within the literary work. Encountering a good piece of literary work makes research enjoyable. Hwang Sun-won`s `Wangmorae` is not placed in high importance in literary history and neither is this novel one of his representative works. However, it is meaningful in that it describes one generation so well in the form of fiction. That is to say, it reveals a ruined consciousness in the midst of war and also shows a completely destroyed interior human consciousness. Accordingly, it contains comprehensive meaning in terms of its capacity to detect human essence as well as understanding the human interior consciousness; it`s aesthetic structure, and how it develops as a novel are important from the aspect of desire. After we trace `Wangmorae`s interior world in his character, we can see the compactness of the inner view of humanity and the tragic meaning typical of 1950`s novels. A nine year old boy has to face with his father`s death and is also deserted by his unfilial mother. He stays with other families until he becomes seventeen. He seeks maternal affections badly and gets caught up in a kind of Oedipus complex. This improves our understanding of the inner human desire as well as the tragic elements of the 1950s. In a compact way, this work introduces various relationships between humans and reality, and between reality and the novel. `Wangmorae` is a comprehensive text covering the relationships between the war and the human interior consciousness, and at the same time deals with this Oedipus complex and the rite of passage from the aspect of interior consciousness and therefore it includes most of the elements related with 1950s`s novels. Accordingly, it summarises the characteristics of 1950 novels. In that sense this novel is significant as it is closely related to reality and sheds light on the history of novels.

Vol.70 No.-

Problem in pro-Japanese under the reign of Japan is frequent issues in history of literature. However there are considerable amount of controversy like Cheong-ma whether include the range of pro-japanese or not. The problem is more is serious when there are reputation of activity in literary circles after liberation. It is obvious fact that such controversy will continue in the future. This essay tracked the 〈The Head〉 by short opinion, whether it is in the border of pro-Japanese based on point of Cheong-ma. Consequently it can’t defend obvious pro-Japanese writing like Continental invasive war of Japan and resolution of the writer . Because this writing was undeniably anti-racial contents for the intellectuals in Joseon to suggest on any condition. In contrast there are kind of unreasonableness in 〈The Head〉 to be exact pro-Japanese poem. We could predict that it was consequence of intentional analysis that poet was pro-Japanese. Consequence of intentional analysis appeared in 〈The plain〉 and 〈The Ursa Major〉 In conclusion this essay showed the reason that Cheong-ma’s poem can’t agree to be pro-Japanese poem. This was not intend to provide an indulgence. Loss of literary circles by extreme valuation like pro-Japanese was continued in loss of our literacy. In spite of conclusion like this we can’t really say that Cheong-ma is really separated from doubt of pro-Japanese poem. The meaning that intended by metaphor’s in 〈Before the night〉, which is still in controversy, demands more accurate interpretation. Thus empty chronological report which is doubted as pro-Japanese poem in 1941(the age of announcing poem) need to be explained by substantial materials and demonstration. Because it is the only way that Cheong-ma’s writing is free from doubt of pro-Japanese poem.
