For the purpose of investigating the conception of rural people toward the cause of mental illness and choice of treatment, the author investigated 200 rural people in individual informal interview. According to the data, the rate of somatic conception was highest in relation to the cause of mental illness. This fact means that our culture has been-strongly influenced by the conception of herb-medicine which projects the cause of illness to the body organ. The psychological conception also was high next to the somatic conception. This conception, increased as the age becomes younger and educational level becomes higher. Such fact means that the importance of psychological cause toward the mentally ill person has been gradually accepted by the rural people in the course of acculturation. But, even though they have psychological orientation, it is far from depth psyc?hological conception. In the choice of treatment most of them do not accept. the efficacy of modern psychiatric treatment and have more emotional affinity to the herb-medicine, folk medicine or supernatural treatment. The supernatural conception was lowest, which was contrast to the investigators expectation.

An interesting case of bone marrow failure, which was caused by tridione, one of anti-epileptic drugs, has been reported in this paper. The changes of cellular elements in bone marrow and peripheral blood in relation to the toxicity of tridione on hematopoietic system have been reviewed briefly. Additionally, the effectiveness of combined therapy of testosterone and steroid to the case of bone marrow failure caused by tridione has been implied, and the clinical importance of regular blood examination to whom tridione is given has also been suggested.

精神分裂症으로 移行한 Gilles de la Tourette氏 病의 1例 報告

A case of Gilles de la Tourette's disease transformed to schizophrenic psychosis is reported in this paper. The patient has been suffered from Gilles de la Tourette's disease for 17 years without any reasonable treatment. He has not any history of Rheumatic fever or Encephalitis in his earlier life. E. E. G. , Skull X-Ray, and other neurological examinations do not reveal any abnormalities. The disease seems to be psychogenic in its origin in the light of the free neurological findings. During the course of his illness lasting 17 years, his personality has become gradually changed and destroyed resulting in schizophrenic psychoses. The anther also suggested the psychodynamic formulation about the cause of schizo?phrenic personality change and Gilles de la Tourette's disease in this case. It seems to be ambiguous that the Gilles de la Tourette's disease has really become transformed to schizophrenic psychoses or they have different origins in their process progressing respectively.

Diagnostic classification of the patients consulted to psychiatric outpatient department. A clinical study on patterns and diagnostic classification for the referred patiens during the lastest three years was done with 202 consulted psychiatric outpatient. Referred patient were very small in their numbers and percentages(0.25% all putpatients). Referral was most common in 30s and the number of female was higher than male. Major sources of referral were internal madicine, pediatrics, and neurosurgery. Attitude of the referred patient for the psychiatric consultation on was generally negative. Depressive neurosis was the most common of all referred patients and psychophysiolgoical disorder was the least common. The numbers of neuroses were much more greater than psychoses.
