        도시 하천의 수질특성에 관한 연구 ( 제1보 ) - 중랑천을 (中浪川) 중심으로 -

        The Chungryang-stream is one of the tributaries of the Han-river which flows through the north-eastern part of Seoul city which is the largest one in Korea. The total length of the stream is 102.2 kilometers (main stream: 42.2 kilometers, its branch: 60 kilometers) and the study area is about 239 square kilometers with the population of 1.8 million. Major sources of pollution on the stream in study area are both of industrial and domestic waste water, which adversely affect the water quality of the down stream of the Han-river. The water quality measured by BOD_5 of the upstream of Chungryang-stream was about 7.0 milligrams per liter. However passing through the area of the Euijungbu, the water quality measured by BOD_5 was showing high concentration as about 40 milligrams per, liter due to the sewage from the Euijungbu city and the highly polluted water of Paeksuk-stream. No significant seasonal changes in DO concentration are shown in main stream except upstream and the ratio of T. coli/F. coli is 3. 4 in the upstream, 1. 6 in the midstream and 2.3 in the downstream. COD values of sediments range from 3. 0 to 384. 9 milligrams per liter and it is found a wide viriation of the values owing to the rainfall.

        도시하천의 (都市河川) 수질특성에 (水質特性) 관한 연구 ( 제2보 ) - 중랑천을 (中浪川) 중심으로 -

        The investigated sector of self purification capability is the mid and up stream of Jungryang main stream which length is 6. 5 km (from the confluence of Backsuk stream and the main stream to the confluence of Dobong stream and the main stream) The self purification capability evaluated as two cases, they are untreated and treated through Eujungbu city sewage treatment facilities, DO model of Streeter and Phelps. The results are as follows, The K₁ value in Jungyang stream is 0.216 day^(-1) (20℃), K₂ value is 4. 050 day^(-1) (20℃) by Langbien and Durum equation and f value is estimated 18. 75 which appeared higher than the value in the unpolluted streams. The assimilative capability evaluated by DO model of Streeter and Phelps is approximately 21 percent of self purification ratio in the main stream, which length is 6. 5 km from the confluence of Backsuk stream and the main stream to the confluence of Dobong stream and the main stream. In the case of treated by Eujungbu city sewage treatment facitities is assimilative capability. By DO model of Streeter and Phelps, the evaluated value has approximately 50% of self purification ratio and DO value will be increased to 5. 3 ㎎/ℓ from 1. 37 ㎎/ℓ in the untreated of Eujungbu city sewage treatment facilities.

        합성세제 중의 인성분이 수질오염에 미치는 영향

        For the study of phosphorus influencing in water quality, TP and PO₄-P were surveyed a time a month at 18 points of Jungrang stream and downstream in Han river tributary and Jinwi stream in Ansung stream tributary. To study phosphorus improvement in stream resulted from supplying phosphate free detergent on July, 1988 in Korea, 3 points of agriculture, urban, complex area near Jungrang stream were selected and the flowing rates of ABS, phosphorus each point were surveyed for a whole day of April, 1988, supplying phosphate synthetic detergent and August, November, 1988. Supplying phosphate free detergent. By the results, we can know that inflow of phosphorus into stream was caused by other pollutant sources than phosphate detergent, and water quality in stream has been improved by considerable decreasing of phosphorus concentration in domestic wastewater resulted from supplying of phosphate free detergent.

        In order to evaluate the ecotoxicological harzardousness of synthetic surfactants on Han river, Jung-ryang and Jin-Wi stream, we used the Ecotoxicological Risk Quotient (ERQ). The chemical harzardousness is evaluated by the balance of the toxicity and concentration in the environment. Then, ERQ is defined as follows; ERQ= - log Concentration in the environment ▷수식참조◁(원문참조) Effective concentration in the test ERQ of chemical is a logarighmic value of ratio of a chemical concentration and the toxicity in the laboratory. In case of small ERQ, the chemical harzardousness is high. If ERQ equals O, the same biological effect as in the laboratory test will be observed in the environment by the chemicals. ERQ values of the chemicals were calculated using the maximum concentration in water environment which were cited from the annual report by our ministry of environment, and EC_(50) of Daphnia magna (water flea; acute immobilization test) LC_(50) of Oryzias latipes (fish; acute toxicity test) and ECso of chlorella vulgaris (alga; growth inhibition test), which were taken from the annual report of "Chemical in environment" by Japan EA. Liner alkylbenzene sulfonate (determined to MBAS) showed the high average values with more than 2.0 to three species in Han river and Jin-wi stream, and these results mean to be favorable to environmental safety. The areas of Jung-ryang stream were polluted, as the average values of ERQ were less than 2.0 with equal to three species, and attention should be paid. Therefore, they must be inspected again because their concentration in the environment may have changed during that period. The chemical harzardousness can be numerated with ERQ, and it can be a help to find the chemicals that should be kept under observation and to see whether the chemical pollution is improved or worsened. The determination of the chemical concentration in the environment and toxicity are essential for the effective use of ERQ.
