In view of space saving, the design of more compact heat exchangers is relatively important. Also, to meet the demand for saving energy and resources today, manufacturers are trying to enhance efficiency and reduce the size and weight of heat exchangers. Over the past decade, there has been tremendous advancement in the manufacturing technology of high efficiency heat exchangers. This has allowed the use of smaller and high performance heat exchangers. Consequently, the use of smaller and high performance heat exchanger becomes popular in the design of heat exchangers. Welded compact plate heat exchanger is used in high temperature and pressure. In the design of heat exchanger, it is necessary to understand the heat transfer and frictional characteristics, so performance data are provided to help design of this type heat exchanger.

A high-efficiency turbo steam compressor has been successfully developed for the MVR desalination system, first one in Korea. The state-of-the-art design methods using real gas properties were applied to get all the aerodynamic design results. Bull and pinion gear trains, tilting-pad bearings and investment cast impellers were developed also to be integrated into the integral gear-driven turbo steam compressor. System tests show highly efficient performance.

Over the past decades, there have been tremendous advancements in the manufacturing technology of high efficiency heat exchangers. This has allowed the use of high performance(high heat transfer coefficient and low pressure drop) heat exchangers. Consequently, the use of high performance heat exchanger becomes popular in the design of heat exchangers. When compared with the well-established shell and tube heat exchangers, the plate heat exchanger shows a lot of advantages like high NTU values, compactness, low cost, multi duties and reduced fouling etc. For the higher performance in plate heat exchanger, the snake pattern in the heat transfer plate has been developed instead of the conventional herringbone pattern. The performance of the plate heat exchanger with snake pattern was evaluated by test, and provided in this paper.

Applications of the plate heat exchanger are being expanded in ships and marine plants. Marine engine L.O(lubricant oil) cooler is one of the applications of the plate heat exchanger. It has very important role as engine radiator in the ship. Lubricant oil is flowed inside ship engine like the land engine and temperature is up to 80~90℃. Some L.O coolers are mounted in the front of the engine, and operating pressure is up to 4~8 ㎏/㎠. Because vibration of engine is passed to L.O cooler, anti-vibration is required. New L.O cooler for medium speed marine engine was developed, and its performance was evaluated by test and provided in this paper.

The purpose of this study was to analyze an educational needs of elementary teachers for technological literacy. The educational needs of teachers were calculated by using the Borich’s formula. The data was collected by using the mailed questionnaire developed by researcher and 917 cases were analyzed finally. Technological literacy items were categorized as 8 groups such as an information communication technology, a design & drawing, a life & machine, a life & electricity . electron, a life & woodworking, a life & energy, and an organization & management of laboratory. Among these, teachers had comparatively high needs in the area of such as information communication technology, life & machine. Programs or instructional materials for teacher training should be developed based on the findings of this study in the future.

This study has a purpose of finding the effect of children’s creativity and self-efficacy through creative problem solving teaching in practical arts subject based on the brain science and proving the result. We have put in operation a practical arts developing the teaching media material and the creative problem solving teaching-learning plan considering characteristics of brain function. Experimental group who took part in practical arts teaching considering characteristics of brain function significantly improved in creativity and self-efficacy. Meanwhile, controlled group who participated in general teaching showed no meaningful improvement in creativity and self-efficacy. Therefore, we could think of the effectiveness improving creativity and self-efficacy, the teaching and learning which is synthesizing characteristics of perceptive process of left hemisphere and right hemisphere.
