The purpose of this study is to investigate on the clinical and radiographic patterns of residual cyst of the jaw for early diagnosis and treatment. The auther studied 87 cases of residual cyst with regard to age, sex distribution, the site of the lesion and several radiographic features. The results were as follows: 1. The average age was found to be 42.6 years, with a range of 15 to 84 years. The incidence was highest in the third and fourth decades (50.6%) and total 87 cases consist of 47 males and 38 females. 2. The common clinical symptoms were pus discharge, swelling, pain and no symptoms was presented in 5 cases (12.5%). 3. Residual cysts were found to be 46.0% maxillary anterior region, 18.4% maxillary molar region, 17.2% mandibular molar region and to be more common in the maxilla (70.1%) than in the mandible (29.9%). 4. Most of residual cysts were unilocular type (86 cases, 98.8%),showing distinct border (62 cases, 71.3%) with smooth margin (78 cases, 89.7%). 5. The adjacent teeth showed root resorption in 13 cases (14.9%), and root divergence in 16 cases (18.4%). 6. The residual cysts extended to the nasal fossa (22 cases, 22.5%), the maxillary sinus (19 cases, 19.4%) and caused the displacement of the mandibular canal wall (11 cases, 11.2%).

어머니의 양육행동, 부부관계, 심리적 특성이 유아의 부적응에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to examine effects of mother"s parenting, marital relations, & psychological characteristics on preschool children"s maladjustment. Subjects of this study were consisted of 295 mothers of 5 to 6-year-old children drawn from two kindergartens and two nursery schools located in Jeju city. The pilot study was done to examine the applicability of survey instrument. Data were analyzed by using SPSSWIN program with the method of frequency, percentage, t-test, F-test, Tukey post-hoc test, Pearson correlation, Cronbach α, and hierarchical regression. The results were as follows: 1. There were partial differences in children"s maladjustment in accordance with their sex and age, but there were not any differences according to the mother"s parenting, marital relations, and psychological characteristic. There were no difference in children"s emotional maladjustment according to sex, whereas boys was likely to have social and behavioral maladjustment than girls. There was no difference in children"s behavioral and psychological maladjustment according to age, while social maladjustment of children aged 5 year old was higher than that of children aged 6. 2. According to their mother"s age, children showed differences only in their behavioral maladjustment. There were partial differences according as whether their mothers had a job or not. 3. Mother"s affectionate parenting, marital conflict, and neuroticism was associated with children"s emotional maladjustment. 4. Among the influences of mother"s parenting behavior, aspects of marital relations, and psychological characteristics on her child"s behavioral maladjustment, mother"s affectionate and controlled parenting behavior, and marital conflict had effects on child"s behavioral maladjustment. 5. Mother"s affectionate parenting behavior and marital satisfaction were related to children"s social maladjustment. In conclusion, mother"s affectionate parenting behavior had a relatively positive effect on her child"s adjustment. The more satisfied a mother was with her married life and the less marital conflict she had, the more positive effect she had on her child"s adjustment. On the other hand, the more neuroticism a mother had, the more negative effect she had on her child"s emotional adjustment.

DMBA 매식과 방사선 조사로 유도된 백서 타액선 종양에서 H-ras 암유전자의 활성화

Cellular transforming genes have been identified in a number of different tumor cell lines and tumor types. A significant number of these oncogenes belong to the ras gene family. The ras gene family consists of three closely related genes:H-ras, K-ras and N-ras which code for a related 21 kDa protein. Mutations in codon 12, 13 and 61 of one of the three ras genes convert these genes into acute oncogenes. The presence of H-ras gene mutations has important prognostic implications in various tumors. Each genomic DNA was isolated from tumors induced by implantation with DMBA, or by treatment with DMBA-implantation/irradiation. When genome DNA was transfected into NIH 3T3 cells and investigated by two-step PCR-RFLP, the following results were concluded: 1. Transformation foci developed in two groups then the genome DNA of two experimental groups were transfected into NIH 3T3 cells. 2. Transformation efficiency was 0.01-0.02 foci/㎍DNA in the experimental group with the DMBA-implantation/irradiation according to results of transfection assay. 3. When the point mutation of H-ras gene was investigated by a two-step PCR-RFLP, there was 13.9%(5/36) in the experimental group with the DMBA implantation, 15.4%(6/39) in the expermetal group with the DMBA-implantation/irradiation. 4. The point mutation in codon 12 and 61 of H-ras was 5.6%(2/36) and 8.3%(3/36) in the experimental group with the DMBA implantation. 5. The point mutation in codon 12 and 61 of H-ras gene was 7.7%(3/39) in the experimental group with the DMBA-implantation/irradiation.
