Angelica tenuissima Nakai (ATN) is an herbal medicine used to treat toothache, headaches, and cold symptoms. However,the therapeutic effects of ATN have not been thoroughly identified. The purpose of this research was to explore the effectof ATN in osteo/odontoblastic differentiation of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs). The influences of ATNon the differentiation and proliferation of hPDLSCs were evaluated using alizarin red S staining, real-time PCR, western blotand MTT assay. ATN promoted osteo/odontoblastic differentiation of hPDLSCs, accelerated mineral nodule formation in vitro,and displayed no toxicity at higher concentrations. The mRNA expression levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), type I collagen(COL1), osteopontin (OPN), dentin matrix acidic phosphoprotein 1 (DMP-1), and dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP) in hPDLSCsand the protein levels of osteocalcin (OCN), DSPP, DMP-1, and Runx2 were significantly higher after ATN treatment. HEK293cells overexpressing the osterix (OSX) gene and treated with ATN (100 µg/mL) showed an increase in BSP promoter activity. Those results suggest that ATN enhances the osteo/odontoblastic differentiation of hPDLSCs. These therapeutic properties ofATN can serve as a theoretical basis for further research on the applicability of ATN in periodontal tissue regeneration.
Estrogen Receptor alpha Regulates Dlx3-Mediated Osteoblast Differentiation

Estrogen receptor (ER-), which is involved in bone metabolism and breast cancer, has been shown to have transcriptional targets. Dlx3 is essential for the skeletal development and plays an important role in osteoblast differentiation. Various osteogenic stimulators and tran-scription factors can induce the protein expression of Dlx3. However, the regulatory function of ER- in the Dlx3 mediated osteogenic process remains unknown. Therefore, we investigated the regulation of Dlx3 and found that ER- is a positive regulator of Dlx3 transcription in BMP2-induced osteoblast differentiation. We also found that ER- interacts with Dlx3 and increases its transcriptional activity and DNA binding affinity. Furthermore, we demonstrated that the regulation of Dlx3 activity by ER- is independent of the ligand (estradiol) binding domain. These results indicate that Dlx3 is a novel target of ER-, and that ER- regu-lates the osteoblast differentiation through modulation of Dlx3 expression and/or interaction with Dlx3.

The purpose of this study is to survey the residents' satisfaction on environment-friendly planning elements in the apartment complex certificated by GBRS(Green Building Rating System) and to suggest the planning elements which should be first considered to proliferate environment-friendly apartments. For this purpose. the classification system of environment-friendly planning elements and the related factors were composed, based on the precedent papers on the planning elements. This study has been focused on selecting the green apartment complexes certificated by GBRS and analyzing the factors that influence on the residents' satisfaction with the planning elements. The samples were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 Windows.

As the demand for higher houses and the preference for the quality of life grew, super-high-rise housings over thirty-stories came out in the 1990's. The higher and the larger housings become, the more community spaces are needed. Besides the super-high-rise housings contain complexly various spaces for leisure and the fittings of a store in the residential building. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the architectural characteristics and to investigate the utilization on the indoor public space of super-high-rise housing. The method of research was based on literature review, field research and an interview with specialists. The object of study is the residential buildings with more than thirty stories that have been built in Seoul since 1999.

최근 테라헤르츠 펄스 기술을 근간으로 하는 테라헤르츠 포토닉스 분야는 새로운 연구 주제로서 전세계적으로 큰 관심을 모으고 있다. 단지 순수과학적 측면에서 뿐만 아니라 상업적 응용 가능성이 높아짐에 따라 많은 선진국에서는 테라헤르츠 포토닉스의 발전을 위해 지대한 노력을 경주하고 있다. 저명한 국제 학술지와 국제 학회에서 테라헤르츠 펄스기술에 대한 논문의 수가 폭발적으로 증가하고 있다는 것은 이러한 사실을 뒷받침하고 있다. 테라헤르츠 응용 기술은 테라헤르츠 펄스 광원과 검출기, 그리고 관련된 수동 소자의 개발이 선행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 테라헤르츠 광전도 안테나, 광정류, 준위상 정합 기반 차주파수 발생, 전광 샘플링, 고속 실시간 측정, 테라헤르츠 전송선, 그리고 각종 도파로 구조와 같은 기초적이면서 핵심적인 소자와 측정 기술에 대하여 간략히 기술하고자 한다. In recent years, the field of ㎔ photonics based on ㎔ pulse technology has gained tremendous, worldwide interest as a new exciting research subject. With a possibility of many commercial applications as well as fundamental scientific achievements in the field, many advanced nations are stepping up their effort in advancing the field of ㎔ photonics. This fact is supported by the observation of the significant increase in the number of papers on ㎔ pulse technology presented in renowned international journals and conferences. The subject that is interesting for the ㎔ application is the development of ㎔ pulse sources and detectors, and other passive devices. In this paper, we present a brief review on some of the key devices and their relavant measurement techniques such as ㎔ photoconductive antennas, optical rectificaton, difference frequency geneneration with quasi-phase matching structures, electrooptic sampling, high speed real time measurements, ㎔ transmission lines, and other various waveguide structures.

The purpose of this study is to survey the residents' satisfaction on environment-friendly planning elements in multi-family housing and show the most important factors that influence on the residents' satisfaction in multi-family housing. This study has been focused on analyzing the influential factors of environment-friendly planning elements that affect the overall satisfaction of inhabitants through P.O.E. For this purpose, the classification system and the related factors were composed based on the precedent papers regarding environment-friendly elements in housing. The samples were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 Windows.
