HIU(Hong-Ik University) has inculcated students with values necessary to serve society as independent, creative, and cooperative professionals. In HIU, students are encouraged to foster independent thinking, free from the influence of others, but are forged to cultivate their creativity in harmony with the knowledge and experience of others. In the department of MSDE(Mechanical and System Design Engineering), students are educated via three major courses for targeting engineering design, Creative Engineering Design (freshman), Design Process (Senior), and Creative Product Development (Junior). All these courses are based on personal tool exercises for design software and hardware and team-project group activities of the students with other team members. This paper will briefly discuss the main focuses of these courses and case studies of the teaching results.

Customer may evaluate the vehicles by design, engine performance, advanced technology and acceleration etc. However, even though the vehicles have good function, these criteria will not meet each customer's propensity. For that reason, we should evaluate the vehicles by the factor what customers commonly feel, not by their propensity based on superficial source. In the meantime, the common factor is appeared by customer's direct driving experience. In other words, it is not the customer's position, but driver's their own position in terms of good evaluation. It has something to do with comfort of drivers. The first condition for drivers comfort starts with guarantee of field of view without any disturbing. Even though the vehicles with advanced technology and comfort could be useless if field of view is not ensured. In this paper, it will focus on improvement of driver's field of view by decreasing A-pillar obstruction angle through optimized design package construction.
