Plain and simple, a corrugated cardboard box(CCB) provides the right level of protection for goods in transit, which helps keep shipping costs down. As made mostly from trees, a renewable resource, corrugated cardboards are processed and also recycled into paper products and even new boxes. CCB come in a number of shapes and sizes. From regular slotted, squared-shaped containers, to full telescope designs for fragile items, there are a variety of styles to choose from. Moreover, thanks to the material’s durability, many corrugated packages can be reused multiple times before they even hit the recycle bin. The research provides an appropriate tool aid that makes the eco-friendly corrugated packaging to suit specific product shipping needs for the environment with no glues or extra binding material at all.

Directed energy deposition (DED), an ASTM(American Society for Testing and Material) process classification of 3D printing or additive manufacturing (AM) process, has enabled to build full density metallic tools and parts using metal powders precisely delivered and controlled for deposition with no powder bed. Using 5-axis machine it is capable of building overhang/undercut parts with no support structures, which, however, requires an advanced process management that controls 5-axis tool paths for layer-by-layer builds. This study proposes a methodical approach for generating layer-by-layer DED tool paths visualized and validated for proper build of parts on 5-axis base table. It first introduces ‘three dimensional layer (3DL)’ information followed by visual simulations implemented with the proposed method.

3-D metal printing using 5-axis is to deposit metal powder by changing the orientation of the deposited structure to be built for the overhang or undercut feature on part geometry. This, after all, needs a complicated pre-process functionality of providing three dimensionally sliced layers to cover the part geometry needed. This study addresses the overhang/undercut problem in 3-D metal printing and discusses a possible solution of providing three dimensional layers to be built by using DMT® machine.

The successful mass media drama, 'The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince', has received lots of supports from the audience by showing them a vivid life and also enabling them to dream a real fantasy. One among the most powerful strategies that made this drama stay successful is the marketing value of the drama space fully maximized when doing the production. This study, introducing a unique representation of 2-D cell matrix with x-y plots of drama space set along the time stream following the scenario, first proposes a quantitative way of uncovering the hidden relation between drama space and scenario using nonlinear matrix filtering method and, secondly, suggests possible service designs mainly constrained by economical standpoints of the stakeholder in producing the drama. The methodology may invoke a plausible contradiction with art instincts that hardly been supposed to be affected by financial debate, which, nevertheless, must sometimes be allowed under the circumstance of pursuing optimality in programming and producing the drama that must survive in the world of competitive market of service business
이동식 무기부품 지원체계(MPH)를 위한 3차원 금속 프린팅용 STL 진단서

이동식 무기부품 지원체계(MPH: Mobile Parts Hospital)는 원격지에 배치된 군 무기 및 장비의 대체 혹은 수리용 부품들을 별도의 외부적 지원 없이 원격지 자체 제조 설비 시스템에 의해 생산하여 공급받기 위한 신개념의 군 무기 병참 시스템을 지칭하며 비상시 무기와 장비의 빠른 부품 수리와 재배치를 가능하게 함으로써 신뢰성 높은 무기 부품 체계를 확보하는 것이 가능하다. MPH 체계 하에서의 3차원 금속 프린팅 공정의 운용 작업자는 위성 네트워크 통신으로부터 필요한 조형 파트의 MPH 파일을 전송받으며 해당 파일은 기하학적인 오류나 조형 적층 공정에 문제를 발생시킬 소지가 있는 모든 요인들이 미리 탐지, 진단되고 수정된 형태로 주어지므로 운용 작업자는 파일을 받는 즉시 간단한 조형 적층 적합성 판정을 실행한 후에 지체 없이 조형 적층 공정을 수행하는 것이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같이 제한적인 상황의 MPH 체계에서 3차원 금속 프린팅용 STL(STereoLithography) 형상 모델에 존재하는 기하학적 오류와 특이형상들을 미리 진단, 분석 및 복구하여 원격지에 지원하는 형식의 특화된 진단 정보의 공급 및 그 정보 교환 체계에 대한 연구 결과를 제시하고자 한다. A mobile parts hospital (MPH) has the capability to produce replacement parts for equipment in the field at or near the point-of-need. MPH enables rapid repair and return-to-service of disabled components of the equipment and addresses the military priority of weapon system readiness. In the 3D printing process of an MPH system, the field management operator receives an STL file of the required build part from the satellite network communication. Some unknown geometric defects and irregular geometric features on an STL model, however, can possibly turn out to be a failure on metal part fabrication after build, and there is not enough time to verify the build part by defining and analyzing some irregular features before metal 3D printing process to field management operator. This study proposes a methodical approach for offering specialized preliminarily diagnosed STL information and its information exchange system for limited situations in MPH.
3차원 금속 프린팅 공정에서의 조형파트 진단 및 조형공구경로 검증

AMM(Additive Metal Manufacturing)이라 호칭되는 3차원 금속 프린팅(metal 3-D printing) 공정은 금속분말(metal powder)을 적층 재료로 사용하여 기계적부품용 실형상 금속 파트(metallic parts)를 직접 조형하여 제조한다. 한편, 조형 파트형상의 STL모델에 존재하는 기하학적 오류들과 특징형상들의 특이성으로 인하여 조형 작업 중에 내부에 결함들이 포함된 실형상 파트가 조형될 가능성이 존재하게 되며 이로 인해 3차원 금속 프린팅 조형공정 자체의 신뢰성에 문제를 야기할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 조형작업 중 발생할 수 있는 결함들을 미리 진단, 분석하고 수정하기 위하여 첫째, 조형 전에 STL 형상모델의 진단분석을 통하여 결함요소를 사전에 탐지하고 둘째, 적층 단면내 조형 공구 경로상에 실제로 포함된 결함들을 분석하고 이를 수정하기 위한 조형 파트 진단 및 조형 공구 경로 검증 연구방법을 제시하였다. 또한 DED(direct energy deposition) 공정을 기준으로 2가지 STL 형상파트 사례들에 대하여 제시한 연구방법의 case study를 수행하였다. Metal 3D printing, which is an additive metal manufacturing (AMM) process, enables the development of full-density metallic tools and parts using metal powders that are precisely delivered and controlled for deposition with no powder bed. However, some unknown geometric defects and irregular geometric features on an STL model can possibly result in incorrect metal part fabrication after the build. This study first proposes a methodical approach for verifying the build part, including the missing facet problems in an STL model, by defining some irregular features that possibly exist on the part. Second, 2D tool paths on each build layer were investigated for detecting any singular region inside the layer. The method was implemented for building two sample STL models using a direct energy deposition process, and finally, it was visually simulated for diagnosis.
