The finite element method(FEM) presents some limitations when the mesh becomes highly distorted. For analysis of metal forming processes with large deformation, the conventional finite element method usually requires several remeshing operations due to severe mesh distortion. The new computational method developed in the recent years, usually designated by meshfree method, offers an attractive approach to avoid those time-consuming remeshing efforts. This new method uses a set of points to represent the problem domain with no need of an additional mesh. Also this new generation of computational method provides a higher rate of convergence than that of the conventional finite element methods. One of the promising applications of meshfree methods is the adaptive refinement for problems having multi-scale nature. In this study, an adaptive node generation procedure is proposed and also to illustrate the efficiency of proposed method, several numerical examples are presented.

The purpose of the present paper is to investigate about the machining of profile (core/cavity) of mold die using the commercial CAM system. Recently the requirement of the light weight and high performance of automobiles has Increased. The weight of the automobile is very important in the viewpoint of the fuel and traveling performance. The optimal design technique, material technique, the process design for parts and specially, die machining technique need to be developed for increasing productivity and reducing production time of the automobile parts. In this study, the effect of machining condition on precision of die profile is investigated by experimental observation and analysis. The results will be reflected for development of the precision die of the automobile.

Plastics is used to produce precise parts with an inclusion of a reinforcement material such as glass fiber or carbon fiber to improve the dimension accuracy. The plastic goods can be produced with inaccurate dimensions, low mechanical strength, or residual stress due to the over packing of cavity inside, if the filling balance of melt resin is not accomplished. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to design the runner system with the geometrical balance at the mold design stage. However, even if the balanced runner system is achieved, a severe filling imbalance is observed practically in a multi-cavity mold. In this study, experiments were performed with Taguchi method to achieve the filling balance in multi-cavity mold with a symmetric runner system, by the use of pure PA and PA with glass fiber 33%. The experimental results were investigated to understand the effect of related molding factors on the filling imbalance for two resins.

The purpose of this study is to find optimum machining conditions to improve the quality of die using the CAD/CAM system(Power Shape & Power Mill) and 3D printing. In this paper, at first, modelling a model using Power Shape and printing the model using 3D printing system(BFB-3000). Second, create the tool path and generate NC codes using Power Mill. And then cut the A16061 by CNC machine (NBS-2025). Finally, measure the surface roughness using measuring instrument(SJ-310). Through this study, the optimal machining condition can be obtained.

From 60's, conventional finite element method has been developed and showed its superiority in structural mechanics. But, the finite element analysis of metal forming processes often breaks down due to severe mesh distortion at large deformation. In recent years, a new family of computational methods has emerged. The so-called meshfree or meshless methods have been investigated and used by many researchers for treating a large variety of engineering problems. The main feature of these methods is that the domain of the problem is represented by a set of nodes, and a finite element mesh is unnecessary. That is, the concept of meshfree methods is that only nodal point data are used for modelling and solving. This computational methods reduces time-consuming model generation and refinement effort, and it provides a higher rate of convergence than that of the conventional finite element methods. The displacement shape functions are constructed using the reproducing kernel approximation that satisfies consistency conditions. In this research, a meshfree method approach based on the reproducing kernel particle method (RKPM) is applied to metal forming analysis. Numerical examples are analyzed to verify the performance of the meshfree method for metal forming analysis.

CAM systems offer various possibility for the machining of parts such as die and mould, turbine blades and other high quality components, but most of them do not take into account the surface quality expected, which is significantly affected by the milling kinematics, the contact conditions between tool and workpiece. In this research, the factors that influence surface roughness are investigated using advanced CAM system. In order to determine the roughness expected by means of the advanced CAM system, Numerous investigations were carried out.

In this paper, an assessment has been proceeded about component technology that stamping car panel can be designed and manufactured efficiently. Also this study investigated standard model of CAD/CAM system in production process of automobile dies. Recently, motor companies are doing their best to increase productivity and to reduce production time. So to develop user-friendly and effective standard model of CAD/CAM system is very important. The obtained results will lead to the reductions in lead time and man-hour required for the design and manufacture of the automobile dies.<br/>
