The purpose of this study is to categorize the store attributes as a valuation basis and to suggest the order of priority by Importance-Performance Analysis when new or improving plan about Urban Entertainment Center(UEC) is under consideration. The literature was reviewed based on the previous studies and survey was conducted. The questionnaire was conducted for users of four UECs in Seoul and 126 copies were analyzed by SPSS windows. The results were summarized as follows: First, 'transportation connection', 'tenant composition', 'wayfinding to destination', 'air quality', and 'public transportation' which have high mean of importance will be considered first when new UEC will be planned from now on. Second, the order of priority for the improvement plan was deducted by Importance-Performance Analysis. It is the most necessary to effort for the improvement of the 'location of dining facility', 'entrance discernment', 'change of direction at node', 'wayfinding to destination', 'vertical shifter', 'indoors air quality', and 'price'. The continuing status quo is required for 'tenant composition', 'tenant arrangement', 'various retail facility', 'various entertainment facility', 'location of entertainment facility', 'transportation connection', 'surrounding facilities connection', 'passageway width', 'rest place', 'indoor temperature', 'convenient parking', 'public transportation', 'security', 'safe against accident', 'quality', 'promotion', and 'personal service'. On the other hands, 'landmark', 'visual openness', 'interior design', 'delight ambience', 'retail kiosk', dining kiosk', 'play implement', 'play experience', 'performances experience', 'event experience', and 'approach distance' are low priority on the effort to improve the customer demand.

The purpose of the study was to compare and analyze the storytelling contents applied to the mixed-use shopping centers through comparing space storytelling properties. Five shopping centers were selected for the survey. They included the story contents and were located at the Metropolitan area of Seoul. The study was to discussion on the meaning of storytelling by the literature, fix a conception and components of space storytelling, compare the components how to be applied to each mixed-use shopping centers, and come to a conclusion to discuss the storytelling properties of the mixed-use shopping centers. The results of this study were as follows; Firstly the contents of space storytelling was composed of theme and plot that was a composite of continuous and independent scene. Secondly the expression of space storytelling reflected the properties of the space storytelling through space direction such as experience, playfulness, information, connection, and personalization. It was useful for expressing the space storytelling properties to apply the object for playfulness, information, connection, and personalization, synesthesia for information, and connection, visual media for information, scale for playfulness, and play for experience. In terms of details regarding the expression all cases included experience by participation, playfulness by formative stimulus, information by digital, and connection by continuous scene and organic relationship.
도심 엔터테인먼트형 복합상업시설에 나타난 엔터테인먼트 요소 분석

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the entertainment elements is applied to the design and whether there is a difference between the facility types. The object is restricted to four representative Urban Entertainment Centers in Seoul. They are divided into horizontal and hybrid type in accordance with the tenants arrangement. The study was progressed through the case analysis by the records and the field survey. The result is as follows; 1) it is a result about the ambient entertainment. The horizontal is an underground mall with a passage from a main entrance to a terminus and the various nodes at turning points. The hybrid has a passage from an open-space on the ground or a deck above vertically to the top of building and an outside node connecting to separate buildings on the middle-floor. 2) It is a result about destination entertainment. All cases have in common the fact that they have a category dominant store. But the hybrid has a large discount store on the lower level and more various entertainment destinations including sports facility than horizontal. In the horizontal, retail is in the halfway, dining is around the sub-entrance and entertainment is at a terminus. Compared to it, in the hybrid the location of retail and dining is different on the case-by-case but all entertainment destinations are on the upper floor. The relative area ratio is in order of entertainment-retail-dining(horizontal) and retail-entertainment-dining(hybrid). 3) It is a result about impulse entertainment. It is happened at an entrance, passage, and node. Especially the passage of the horizontal type and the entrance of hybrid are utilized for impulse.

The sustainable architecture that considers the health and amenity as well as influence of building for environmental preservation and harmony with surroundings is under lively discussion. The purpose of this study is to analyze the ecological architectural properties through the Shigeru Ban's work, find his understanding and methodology as sustainable architecture, and provide the feasible for future architecture. The study was progressed through the reference examination and the substance analysis. The eight representative architectures were selected for the substance. The following is the result. 1) The variable utilization of facade design; the big window opening, translucent material, and shutter for open and close momentarily were factors used on the facade for the natural lighting. The vertical or horizontal opening of the facade means that the communication with environment through the utilization of renewable energy, continuity between inside and outside space, and passive design by natural ventilation. 2) The reduction and circulation of resources; he designed his works for minimizing of environment load through the recycle material, reuse, variable and simple plan. 3) The regional characteristic; a shoji, a shitomido, and a shopping street as the Japanese traditional element and elements of Korean traditional architecture reflect a regional context.
