Flora and standing stock of the vascular hydrophytes of Naktong river and Jukrim river were examined for several selecting sites from June 6, 1984 to June 16, 1985. The findings of floristic researches are 36 kinds of vascular hydrophytes which was classified to 2 divisions, 3 classes, 9 orders, 15 families, 24 genera, 33 species, and 3 varieties by Engler`s classification system (Melchior, 1964). Trapa incisa, Potamogeton malaianus var. latifolius, and Najas species are reported firstly from the water course of Naktong river. The distribution of Zostera marina, Z. nana and Phyllospadix iwatensis are discussed. The standing stock of Jukrim river was higher than that of Naktong river. It was contributed primarily by Trapa japonica and Potamogeton crispus. The standing stock of Zostera community in the front of Kaduk-Island was 546±288g DW/㎡ in May to June, 1985. The total standing stock and net primary production in this study area was estimated 7.44±3.92 tons and 20.43 tons DW/d respectively.

Flora and distribution of vascular hygro-and hydrophytes were investigated from April to June, 1983 on the seven sampling sites along the estuary of Nagdong River. As the result, total 60 kinds of vascular plants are investigated, among them 13 kinds are aquatics; Rotala indica var, uliginosa, Mytiophyllum spicatum, Alisma canaliculatum, Vallisneria asiatica, Hydrilla verticillata, Potamogeton berchtoldii, P. crispus, Ruppia maritima, Phyllospadix iwatensis, Zostera marina, Juncus effusus, Phragmites communis, and Scirpus triqueter. Present hydrophytes are largely confined to the main-stream zone. The transition zone is poorly habitated by hydrophytes and considered for the distributional limits of submersed aquatic macrophyte. Marine hydrophyte populaitons are only confined to the estuary and coastal zone. However, long-term conditions of salinity gradient appear to be primarily responcible for the present flora and distribution.
