As lamp system is considered as one of the most important components that determine the image of car, most of manufacturers place great emphasis on lamp design for their success in the development of new car. In this research various techniques of advanced CFD analysis were suggested so as to simulate more physical phenomena and improve the accuracy of estimating lamp performance and support the effective success in esthetic design of lamp system after all.

In this paper, airflow and heat transfer analyses for a center mounting HVAC system were performed using commercial CFD code. For the bi-level mode of the HVAC system, the rate of airflow through the system has its maximum value when the temperature-controlling door is at quarter opening rate. As temperature-controlling door opens wide, the static temperature at every outlet of the system increases showing the linearity with respect to the opening rate of temperature-controlling door. Although there was difference in temperature between each outlet, the magnitude of temperature difference was considered to be acceptable.

Using CFD airflow and temperature distribution around the ventilated disc brakes were calculated in the case of rapid braking of a car. Exporting grid system and value of temperature of the rotors to the FEM code, thermal deformations of two rotors were also calculated. Since mass flow rate of the air passing through the rotor of inner vent type was greater than the other the cooling performance of the rotor of inner vent type was calculated to be better. Because the time spent in a rapid braking was very short most of the heat generated by the motion was transferred to the rotor. Therefore the values of temperature were almost same for the two rotors. However there was noticeable difference in the thermal deformation between two rotors.

Ejector is one of the most robust device of recirculating hydrogen discharged from a stack of fuel cell vehicle. In spite of the simplicity of its geometry the structure of turbulent supersonic flow in an ejector is more complex than expected. In this research CFD analysis was performed to simulate the real supersonic flow in ejectors. As a result, the mechanism of mixing process of two kinds of gas was clearly understood and the performance and efficiency of both single ejector and dual ejector were estimated as well.

In this paper, flow structures in several kinds of DEAS(Diesel Exhaust After-treatment System) were calculated by CFD analysis. When the exhaust gas passed through the bending portion of inlet pipe and diffuser, flow structure was highly distorted by centrifugal force and flow separation for the default system. changing the shape of diffuser reduced the flow resistance of system and installing the artificial impedance in diffuser improved the uniformity of velocity passing through the catalyzed substrate.

Enhancing cooling performance of disc brake is a traditional remedy for lower braking performance. However, the relationship between cooling performance and braking performance has not been understood clearly. In this paper, a new method and procedure for estimating braking distance using CFD analysis with a consideration of change of friction coefficient is proposed. With the simulation results mathematical and logical explanation for the relationship between cooling performance and braking performance could be understood.Put Abstract here.

Regenerative blowers are widely used for hydrogen-recirculating system in fuel cell vehicle since they can generate high pressure in single stage. On the other hand, typical regenerative blower has its lower efficiency and is apt to lower total efficiency of the fuel cell car. Therefore improvement of both the performance and efficiency of blower at the same time is highly required. In this paper an effective CFD method of estimating the performance of blower was suggested and optimization of blower performance was performed. Optimized blower model was proved to have better performance and efficiency compared to base model.
