Vol.3 No.1

A few reports suggested that guanidine increases the quantity of acetylcholine released from the nerve endings and increases the sensitivity of the end plate to acetylcholine. In this experiment the authors attempted to investigate the influence of guanidine on the acetylcholine effect on the blood pressure of rabbits and excised intestine. The results obtained we re summarized as follows. 1. The hypotensive effect of acetylcholine on the rabbit is augmented by pretreatment with guanidine 5-10 mg/kg. however is inhibited by 20 mg/kg of guanidine. 2. The contractile effect of acetylcholine on the excised intestine of rabbit and rat is potentiated by guanidine.

Vol.3 No.1

Reserpine is known to have two effects on sympathetically innervated smooth muscle and cardiac muscle: (a) to deplete the norepinephrine stores and (b) to increase the sensitivity to injected norepinephrine. Fleming and Trendelenburg reported that a single injection of various doses of reserpine (0.1~0.3mg/kg) given intraperitoneally 24 hours prior to the experiment increased the depletion of the norepinephrine stores, but no supersensitivity to norepinephrine was observed. In this experiment, I attempted to know the influence of reserpine on the blood pressure of epinephrine and ouabain systemically. I devided the time course of pretreatment with reserpine 10 min., 30 min., 1 hr., 4 hr., 24 hour prior to epinephrine injection, and 1 hr., 4 hr., 24 hr., prior to ouabain injection. The pressor effects of epinephrine and ouabain on the rabbits pretreated with reserpine were as follows. 1. When epinephrine was given to rabbits pretreated with reserpine, the increased blood pressure was prolonged compared with the group reserpine was not given previously. 2. When ouabain was given to rabbits pretreated with reserpine, the blood pressure was potentially increased compared with the group reserpine was not given previously.

Vol.9 No.2

Numerous authors have reported that iproniazid(1-isonicotinyl-2-isopropyl hydrazide), a potent amine oxidase inhibitor, potentiates the effects of various drugs. In order to investigate the influence of iproniazid on the analgesic and metabolic effects of morphine, codeine and meperidine, following experimental studies have been carried out. The analgesic effects were investigated utilizing the hot plate reaction time test in mice, the metabolic effects were investigated measuring the changes of blood sugar content and serum transaminase activities(S-GOT, S-GPT) in rabbits. The animals were pretreated with iproniazid 20 hours prior to experimental study. The results obtained were follows; 1. Analgesic effects of morphine and codeine were markedly increased by pretreatment of iproniazid. 2. Blood sugar levels were markedly decreased by pretreatment of iproniazid alone. 3. The hyperglycemic effects of morphine, codeine and meperidine were suppressed by the pretreatment of iproniazid. 4. Iproniazid suppressed the serum transaminase activities in rabbits. 5. The increased serum transaminase activities induced by morphine, codeine and meperidine were suppressed by the pretreatment of iproniazid. 6. The synergistic effect of iproniazid on the analgesic effects of morphine, codeine and meperidine does not seem to be directly related transaminase activities.

Vol.2 No.1

Dichloroisoproterenol(DCI) i; one of the well known <TEX>${\beta}$</TEX>-adrenergic receptor blocking agents. According to Moran and Perkins, DCI has sympathomimetic like action in relatively low concentrations. Fleming and Hawkins confirmed that DCI acts upon the receptors concerned with positive chronotropic and inotropic actions in the heart. Vogins reported that DCI, in concentration of <TEX>$5{\times}10^{-8}$</TEX> to <TEX>$5{\times}10^{-6}g/ml$</TEX>, had properties of sympathomimetic amine causing positive inotropic and chronotropic actions in normal rat atria. And James and Nadeau found that DCI had not only adrenergic blocking effect in moderate and higher concentrations, but it also blocked the effect on the sinus node by vagal stimulation and of directly administered acetylcholine in higher concentrations. As stated above by many authors, DCI has complicated actions according to its concentrations. Our aim at the present experiments was to study the effects of DCI to the action of ouabain and acetylcholine upon the excised rabbit atria, as well as to the action of barium chloride and acetylcholine upon the excised rabbit intestine. In addition, Pan ax Ginseng is widely used as tonics in oriental nations, its pharmacological action, however, has not been clearly established. So we atempted to investigate the effects of the water extract of Panax Ginseng to the action of ouabain and DCI upon both atria and intestine. The results obtained were as follows. 1) DCI has a negative inotropic effect on the excised rabbit atria at concentration of <TEX>$10^{-5}$</TEX> and a positive inotropic effect at concentration of <TEX>$10^{-6}$</TEX>. 2) DCI (at concentration of <TEX>$10^{-6}$</TEX>) potentiates the positive inotropic effect of ouabain upon the excised rabbit atria. 3) DCI antagonizes the action of acetylcholine upon the excised rabbit atria. 4) The water extract of Panax Ginseng, at concentration of <TEX>$10^{-3}$</TEX>, decreases the contractile force of ra

Vol.15 No.1

A physician assumes toward his patient the obligation to use such reasonable care and skill as is commonly possessed and exercised by physicians in the same general line of practice in the same or similar localities and to use his best judgment at the times. Medical disputes between physicians and patients are, ever more increased in these days as human body, happens to cause a variety of changes in body unlike the function of machine. Such increased trends of medical disputes became a problem in common across the word under the influence of affluent living standard, high consciousness of life value and right by today's people. The aim of this dissertation is oriented to forming a physician's responsibilities in medicalcare accidents arising between physicians and patients. A general physician, for example, has not been negligent merely because, a specialist might have treated the patient with greater skill and knowledge. However, the fact that a physician may have acted to the best of his ability will not avoid legal problems for damages resulting from substandard treatment, that is the degree of care and skill which is to be expected of the ordinary practitioner in his field of practice. The duty of a physician who is, or holds himself out to be, a specialist is greater in the field of his specialty than one who is a general physician. A patient's consent to routine medical procedures is implied from the fact that patient comes to the physician with a medical problem and voluntarily submits to the procedures. For the more serious medical procedures and for major operations, however, it is preferable for the physician to have the patient's consent in writing, to facilitate proof of the consent in the event of a dispute or litigation. Suppose that mistakes on the part of physicians are likely to be blamed in all cases of malpractice. Then it will create a sort of shrinkage in activities of medical treatment. There should be some limitation on excessive application of 'The thing speaks for itself' on mistakes by physicians and availablity of cause and effect. It is a matter of complicity as well as a matter of importance to draw a definite boundary on responsibilities of physician. A series of further research on this particular aspect is strongly urged.
