This study was undertaken to investigate degree of symmetry in each part of the head and face in normal adult. The subjects consisted of 37 male and 32 female adults, and the average age were 20.9 year old. The analysis of 9 soft tissue linear measurements and 15 skeletal linear measurements from photogrammertry and posteroanterior cephplometric radiograph were caried out. The conclusions were as follow ; 1. Asymmetry was a common finding in normal adult subjects. 2. There was a common finding in normal adult subjects. 2. There was no significant difference on both sexes, but magnitude of facial skeletal structure of male adults more greater than that of famale adults. 3. There was no significant difference between right and left side of craniofacial area of both sexes. 4. When the analysis were undertaken after the head was divided into three parts superoinferioly in the normal male and female adults, the more superior part showed relative stability than more inferior part. 5. Degree of soft tissue asymmetry less than the degree of skeletal asymmetry.
