Varix of the intraabdominal portion of the fetal umbilical vein is a rare entity. We present a case of varix of the intrafetal umbilical vein diagnosed by routine prenatal ultrasonography at 35 weeks of gestation. Color Doppler examination of the abnormal umbilical vein demonstrated turbulent flow through 23-㎜ diameter cystic dilatation of the fetal intra-abdominal umbilical vein consistent with a varix. No other sonographic abnormalities were detected, and a healthy infant was delivered at term.

선천성 십이지장 폐색은 주산기 장폐쇄의 가장 흔한 원인으로 동반기형의 정도, 환아의 영양상태, 조산여부가 예후에 영향을 주지만 산전 진찰상 초음파를 통해 조기에 진단하여 빠른 수술적 치료를 통해 음식물 흡인으로 인한 기도폐쇄 및 흡인성 폐렴, 심한 구토로 인해 발생하는 전해질, 수분소실등의 대사성 합병증들의 예방뿐만 아니라 사망률을 낮출수 있다. 또한 다른 위장관계나 췌담관계, 심장, 척추등에 동반되는 기형들이나 산전 진찰상 비슷한 소견을 보이는 다른 질환과의 감별진단이 필요하다. 본 저자들은 본원 산전 진찰상 임신26주에 발견된 선천성 십이지장 폐색증을 추적관찰하여 임신39주에 제왕분만 후 출생 7일째 십이지장-십이지장 문합술을 통해 수술적 교정을 시행한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Congenital duodenal atresia is the most common cause of perinatal intestinal obstruction. Abdominal distension and projectile vomiting are the specific symptoms of neonatal gastro-intestinal obstruction. The incidence of duodenal atresia is between 1 in 2,710 and 1 in 10,000 live births. Most cases are thought to be failure of recanalization of the duodenal lumen during embryonic period. Duodenal atresia is associated with a high incidence of other associational anomalies, including esophageal atresia, biliary atresia, congenital heart disease and vertebral anomalies. Prenatal diagnosis, the ealry operation and the facotrs such as prematurity, combined abnormalities, nutirtion have a significant influence on complication and mortality. We report a case of congenital duodenal atresia diagnosed by ultrasonography prenatally in Andong general hostpital at 26 gestational weeks and operated the 7th day of cesarean section in Yeungnam university hospital with a brief review of literature.
