In this paper, we discussed the external post-tensioning utilized to improve the load carrying capacity of deteriorated steel-concrete composite bridges. Steel-concrete composite plate girder with external post-tensioning which installed underneath the tension flange of I-girder was modeled and analyzed using the elastic beam-column theory The location of post-tensioning device installation and the magnitude of post-tensioning force are the parameters in the analysis From the study. It was found that the location and magnitude of external post-tensioning force is important To strengthen the deteriorated steel-concrete bridge bridges, accurate e timation technique of the local load carrying capacity of the deteriorated bridges must be established prior to develop the effective way of strengthening or recovering the deficienc. of capacity This paper may contribute to establishing the reliable design guidelines

This paper may contribute to establishing the reliable design guidelines.
