The cornering and aligning stiffness are the main factors to determine handling and aligning characteristic of the car. It is difficult to compare force and moment between different tires, because those are too small under the low slip angle condition. In this paper, the cornering and aligning stiffness of tires under the low slip angle condition are calculated with explicit finite element analysis and compared to test results. To increase the accuracy of the explicit finite element analysis, friction of the contact area and visco-elastic characteristic are properly considered. To suppress the oscillation caused by abrupt acceleration and deceleration for efficient analysis run time, some damping techniques are also considered to minimize irregular vibration of the tire.
