This research focused on the development of wireless telemetry system that can monitor heart rates of multiple rehabilitation patients in real time without constraint. The whole system consists of the multiple patient's side devices (PSDs) and one central monitoring system (CMS). The PSD consists of a microphone, amplifier, filter, microcontroller, and RF (Radio Frequency) modem. In addition, the PSD was designed to be wearable and low power consumption. The CMS consists of an RF modem and general PC and it was designed to monitor heart rates from multiple patients simultaneously. The system warns an alarm signal when a patient's heart rate exceeds the pre-set range for each patient. This system can be useful to monitor the heart rate of exercising rehabilitation patients and control the patients condition and the exercising level.

The aim of this study is to design and develop the gait rehabilitation equipment that judge patient's movement of his/her center of gravity using pressure sensors, and to aid hemiplegic patients to balance themselves using an automatic stepper that changes the patient's center of gravity. It is hard to bear the weight on the affected side for hemiplegic patients. The gait rehabilitation equipment detects the footing phase of hemiplegic patient during training and moves the unaffected footing side of the stepper up and moves the affected footing side down simultaneously so that the patient's center of gravity can shift from unaffected side to affected side. The gait rehabilitation system was developed and applied for hemiplegic patients during exercise. Eight hemiplegic patients and one normal adult were studied. The developed gait rehabilitation system could judge not only the normal adult's intention but also the patient's intention to move his/her center of gravity. Even though the most of hemiplegic patients exercised in automatic mode and a few hemiplegic patients exercised in manual mode, the developed gait rehabilitation system can aid the hemiplegic patients to train more easily.

This paper describes the design and development of gait phase analyzing devices which are key components consisting of the gait training equipment for hemiplegia patients. The devices should be durable against the friction of rotating rubber belt of the gait training equipment and robust to the mechanical vibration caused by the operation of the gait training equipment so that they can detect the gait phase accurately during training. We could develop the gait phase analyzing device that can satisfy these criteria by designing and implementing of two new devices, a magnet shoe and magnetic sensor array board. The magnet shoe has three rows of magnetic sensor array and each row has different number of permanent magnets so that which parts of the shoe are touched to the magnet sensor array board. In addition, the shoe was designed as an overshoe so that a patient can attach and detach the shoe easily. The magnet sensor array board has 1,620 magnetic sensors which are arranged in 30 rows and each row consists of 54 magnetic sensors where the distance between sensors is 2 ern in horizontal and vertical direction. The experiment results show that they have spatial resolution of I cm in horizontal and vertical directions and temporal resolution of 20 frames per second of the gait phase. The gait phase analyzing devices developed in this study were incorporated into the design . of gait training equipment for hemiplegiapatients and they showed feasibility in practical operating environment. They also can be applied to other similar equipment which needs the gait phase analysis function.

In this study we developed an improved model of the previous automatic ankle stretching device (ASD) by using electro-mechanical cylinders which have built-in encoders. Also, a user friendly human-computer interface (Her) device was developed and employed for this device to provide patients with easy access to the ASD and effective visual feedback of the training activity. It can reduce the workload of physical therapists and improve the effect of rehabilitation exercise for lower limb monoplegia patients.

Due to damaged vertebrae nerves, serious disease and aging, patients who have to lie down for long period of time need to exercise to maintain up-right standing position and recover their paralytic leg. This study describes a development of an intellectual tilt table which can provide a patient with rehabilitating condition. This can be possible by measuring and displaying the hee bent angle and pressure for each foot during exercise in real time. It is expected that the patient's exercising effect can increase by monitoring these two values during exercise.

The information of eye movement is used in various fields such as psychology, ophthalmology, physiology, rehabilitation medicine, web design, HMI(human-machine interface), and so on. Various devices to detect the eye movement have been developed but they are too expensive. The general methods of eye movement tracking are EOG(electro-oculograph), Purkinje image tracker, scleral search coil technique, and video-oculograph(VOG). The purpose of this study is to embody the algorithm which tracks the location of the gazing point at a pupil. Two kinds of location data were compared to track the gazing point. One is the reference points(infrared LEDs) which is effected from the globe. Another is the center point of the pupil which is gained with a CCD camera. The reference point was captured with the CCD camera and infrared lights which were not recognized by human eyes. Both of images which were thrown and were not thrown an infrared light on the globe were captured and saved. The reflected reference points were detected with the brightness difference between the two saved images. In conclusion, the circumcenter theory of a triangle was used to look for the center of the pupil. The location of the gazing point was relatively indicated with the each center of the pupil and the reference point.

In this paper, a new self-oscillated type high voltage charger controller circuit is proposed, which has variable constant current source characteristics to Improve charge characteristic of charger roller. The proposed control method enables high quality printing characteristics regardless of the circumstance change such as ambient temperature or humidity by changing the current reference signal To verify the proposed control method various experiments are performed.
