The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between health related physical fitness and inflammatory markers in young females. Sixty-one college females (age: 18.68±0.99, BMI: 22.59±3.09) were participated in this study. Health related physical fitness(HPF) measures included back-strength, sit and reach, sit-up, step test and body composition as assessed by inflammatory markers included C-reactive protein(CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) were measured using the standardized medical measurement procedures. Analysis of multiple correlation, analysis of linear regression, and Durbin Watson Test were used to examine the associations of health related physical fitness and inflammatory markers. There were on significantly differences between HPF and IL-6, TNF-α. But, a negative relationship was found between HPF and CRP(p<0.05). These results suggest that inflammatory markers may be related to health related physical fitness. Further research is suggested to investigate the associations of inflammatory markers and young females.

The purpose of this study was to analyze of the relationship between young women’s health-related fitness and inflammatory markers and to develop the predicting regression equation with the significant factor. The 157 young females (age: 20.159±1.876yrs, BMI: 22.457±2.408 Kg/m²) were participated in this study. We measured percent body fat, body mass index, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance, and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) level using an enzymatic method. Percent body fat, weight, height and body mass index were analyzed using bioelectrical impedance(Biospace Co). TNF-α was analyzed using the reagent, and after blood collection. Pearson product-moment correlation was used to investigate correlations between TNF-α and concentration of body composition, health-related physical fitness. Multiple linear regression was used to examine the associations between TNF-α and concentration of body composition, health-related physical fitness. TNF-α was significantly associated with muscular strength(r=.403, p〈.001) and cardiorespiratory endurance(r=.363, p〈.001). In multiple linear regression analysis, muscular strength(B=.017, t=4.057), and cardiorespiratory endurance)B=.105, t=3.260) were shown to be significant predictors of cardiorespiratory endurance and muscular strength account for a variance in TNF-α of 24% in young female. Consequently, young women of TNF-α and muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance is significantly correlated (p〈.000) was established. Second, regression analysis using a stepwise selection method for creating a regression expression for estimating the results of TNF-α of the young woman, a regression equation to estimate y=3.447-.017(muscular strength)+.105(cardiovascular endurance).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise and supplementation of different glycemic index values of carbohydrate on the body composition including fat mass(FM), percent fat(%fat), body mass index(BMI), and waist-hip-ratio (WHR), health-related physical fitness including back strength, sit-up, trunk flexion, and Harvard step test, and metabolic indices including leptin, blood glucose, and insulin and bone mineral density in young female adults. 22 young female adults were participated in this study and classified as a two groups by High glycemic index group(HGI, n=12), and low glycemic index group(LGI, n=10). They performed aerobic walking programs on treadmill for 8 weeks. Health-related physical fitness was determined by measuring back strength, sit-up, trunk flexion and Harvard step test, and body composition was measured by Bioelectric Impedance Analysis(BIA). Blood leptin, blood glucose, blood insulin were measured before and 8 weeks of the program treatment. There was a significant difference on bone mineral density but there were no significant differences on body composition, health-related physical fitness, and metabolic indices between two groups. Blood leptin was significantly associated with flexibility(r=-0.37), FM(r=0.56), % fat(r=0.44), LBM(r=0.41), WHR(r=0.38), BMI(r=0.39), blood glucose(r=0.35), and insulin(r=0.30). In conclusion, aerobic exercise program and supplementation of different GI carbohydrate for 8 weeks affect on bone mineral density but don't affect on health-related physical fitness, metabolic indices in young females. Leptin significantly associated with flexibility, fat mass, percent fat, LBM, WHR, BMI, blood glucose, and insulin in young females.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the body composition, energy metabolism, and serum lipoprotein profiles in female ballet dancers before and after a ballet performance. The subjects were cluster sampled 43 female ballet dancers of which 9 from an amateur ballet company, 15 from a semi professional company, and 19 from a professional company. The bioelectrical impedance method was used to measure the BMI, %BF, TBW, and LBM. The computer aided nutrition analysis program and 24 hour recall method were used to measure the energy intake and expenditure, and physical activities for 7 days before and 7 days after a ballet performance. The serum lipoprotein profiles of LDL C, HDL C, TG, and the TC/HDL C ratio were examined by Enzymatic Colorimetry Method. The Analysis of Covariance and Multiple Range Test were applied to statistical significance. The results showed that there were significant differences in the BMI, %BF, EE among three ballet groups(p<.05), but not in the TBW, LBM, EI, LDL C, HDL C, TG, and TC/HDL C ratio. In conclusion, professional ballet dancers exert very high levels of energy expenditure in preparation for the performance while limiting their energy intake in order to decrease their very low levels of body weight and fat.

This study was designed to examine the correlation between female ballet dencers’ energy metabolism and appetite-regulating hormone levels. The subjects were 86 female ballet dancers. At baseline, subjects were 25.88±2.79 years old and weighed 49.43±4.35kg. Their BMI was 18.42±1.04kg/m² and their percent body fat(%BF) was 19.06±2.95%. To calculate the energy intake(EI), the subjects self-recorded their daily food consumption, and the data was calculated using a computer-aided nutrition analysis program. Hemanalysis was conducted to examine the serum levels of ghrelin, leptin, insulin, and glucose; all of which are known to be closely associated with energy homeostasis. The analysis of covariance was used for statistical analysis. The results revealed that ghrelin was significantly related to EI (p<.05). Ghrelin was positively correlated with EI, while leptin, insulin, and glucose showed no significant correlation to EI. In conclusion, ballet dancers are inclined to disrupt the energy balance in their occupational need to maintain thin, ‘ideal’ ballet physique. Their prolonged low energy intake may alter the levels of metabolic hormones to reach abnormal range, which in turn may increase the risk of serious health problems for ballet dancers.

To investigate the effects of complex training and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (n3PUFA) supplementation on body composition and inflammatory marker in young overweight females. Thirty young overweight females were randomly assigned to three groups: Group I(placebo, 3.6 g/day, n=10), Group Ⅱ [n3PUFA(2.4g/day)+placebo(1.2g/day), n=10], and Group Ⅲ(n-3PUFA, 3.6g/day, n=10) along with complex training for 12 weeks. The complex training involved muscular resistance exercises(50 - 70% of 1RM, 3 - 4d/w, 3 - 20s/r) and aerobic exercises(40 - 75% of HRmax, 3 - 4d/w, 15 - 35min/d). All subjects were assessed before and after treatment for body weight, percentage body fat, and BMI and serum C-reactive protein(CRP) and leptin levels, and the results were statistically analyzed. Significant differences were noted for the mean values of BMI, body weight, and CRP among the three groups. Group Ⅲ had lower CRP levels and body weight as compared to both the placebo groups(p<0.05). The combination of complex training and n-3PUFA supplementation appeared to be important for altering body composition and levels of inflammatory markers in young overweight females.
