This study is aimed at the establishment and examination of deterministic model and stochastic model to monthly streamflow. In this study, the stream morphological characteristics of the Nakdong river basin, which is one of the major basins of Korea, was determined quantitively by the topographical map. In the analysis, monthly streamflow records of Nakdong river(Dongchon, Nakdong and Jindong) were used. Modelling processes are summarized as follow; from a simplified equation of water balance on a watershed a regression model for monthly streamflow using the variables of rainfall, pan evaporation, and previous-month rainfall was formulated. And predictions were derived from the stepwise regression analysis of watershed characteristics. It was also possible to explain geographic influences on streamflow through those pridiction equation. In the stochastic processes, monthly streamflows were simulated by the Thomas Fiering model and Hamonic model.
Comparison of Image Analysis Methods to Evaluate the Degree of Browning of Fresh-cut Lettuce
조정석,문광덕 한국식품과학회 2014 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.23 No.4
Digital image analysis was used to detectchanges in browning of fresh-cut lettuce. Fresh-cut lettucewas divided into the 4 treatment groups of dipping indistilled water (control group); ultrasound treatment for90 s in distilled water (US); blanching for 90 s at 45oC(BC); and blanching after ultrasound treatment (US+BC). The degree of browning was measured using image analysis, colorimetry, spectrophotometry, and visual assessment. Using image analysis, the US+BC treatment group showedthe smallest browning area and lowest b* value. Correlation between visual assessment and image analysisfor evaluation of the area of browning was the highest(0.9592), followed by the b* value of image analysis(0.9527). The lowest correlation coefficient (0.6962) wasobserved between visual assessment and the b* value usingcolorimetry. Image analysis can be used as a method forevaluating browning in fresh-cut lettuce.

This study is aimed at the establishment and examination of stochastic simulation model with investigation of stochastic characteristics from the time series analysis of river water quality data. The stochastic simulations model of river water quality is develooped for the long range pollution prediction BOD and DO data obtained at the Bupung and kangjung station were used in the analysis, and by these records can be obtain statistics. In the time series analysis the classical and correlogram method were used, and a single season model of 1st and 2nd order Markov model were applied in the simulation of river water quality. It was also proved that BOD and DO were existed with time series characteristics having seasonal components of 500 and 365 day periodicity respectively. It was found that these river water quality series were nearly nonstationary, and 1st and 2nd order markov model give good results in the simulation of BOD and DO as mean and standare deviation.

The growth of population and industrialzation has been increasing the discharge of wastewater and requiring more intensive eater treatment processes. This study was carried out to determine the optimal design conditions of a sewage treatmentplant in the small city of An-jung. Also, we set out to find the operation guide data pertaining to the activated sludge process required by a city of this size. The biological reactors were operated with hydraulic retention time of 4hrs, 6hrs, 8hrs, 10hrs, and 12hrs respectively, using a mixture of raw wastewater. From the results of the experiments, we found that the removal efficiency increased as the F/M ratio decreased. From this conclusion we found that we could get the BOD removal eficiency above 90% if the F/M ratio was 0.13 to 0.27 KgBOD/Kg MLSSday.

This study was carried out to develop the stochastic stream water quality model for the intaking station of Taejoun City waterworks in the Keum River system. The monthly water dissolved oxygen with periodicity and trend were forcasted by multiplicative ARIMA models and then the applicability of the models was tested based on 13years of the historical monthly water quality data at Taejoun City intaking site. The parameter estimation was made with the monthly observed data. The last one year data was used to compare the forcasted water quality by ARIMA model with the observed. The models are ARIMA(2.0.2)x(2.1.1)_(12) for dissolved oxygen. The forecasting results showed a good agreement with the observed. It is implying the applicability of multiplicative ARIMA model for forecasting monthly water quality at the Taechoung site.
