        This study deals with the bicycle accidents. The purpose of this study is to develop the bicycle accident model in bicycle accident black spots. In pursuing the above, 40 black spots in Cheong-ju were surveyed. The traffic accident data from 2011 to 2014 were selected among TAAS(traffic accident analysis system) data set of Road Traffic Authority. Such 13 variables explaining the accidents as geometry, traffic volume and others were selected from literature review. The main results are as follows. First, the accident and accident rate model were developed using SPSS and LEVLDEP. Such the models are all statistically significant. Second, curve road, splitter island and sidewalk are selected as specific variables in bicycle accident model. Third, the number of entry lane is selected as specific variable in bicycle accident rate model. Finally, traffic volume, bicycle road, on-street parking and driveway are selected as common variables. The results might be expect to give some implications to providing the countermeasures for safer bicycle operation.

      • 사고유형에 따른 소형 회전교차로 사고모형 개발

        이 연구는 소형 회전교차로 교통사고를 다룬다. 연구의 목적은 소형 회전교차로의 특성에 따라 사고유형별 교통사고 모형을 개발하는데 있다. 분석을 위해 48개 회전교차로 자료가 수집되며, 2008~2014년 사이에 발생한 교통사고 자료는 사고유형에 따라 분류된다. 종속변수는 교통사고율이며, 독립변수는 기하구조, 감속시설, 표지판 등 14개의 변수이다. 연구의 주요 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 회전교차로와 사고 유형은 교통사고율과 관련이 없다는 귀무가설이 기각된다. 둘째, 6개의 통계적으로 유의한 다중선형회귀모형이 개발된다. 셋째, 회전차로수와 감속시설은 차대 차 사고의 공통변수로 선정된다. 마지막으로 진입 회전반경, 노상주차장 및 진출입도로는 차대사람 사고의 공통변수로 선정된다. 이 연구는 장래소규모 회전교차로의 안전성을 높이는 전략마련에 크게 영향을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. This study deals with the small-size roundabout accidents. The objective of this study is to comparatively analyze the characteristics of small-size roundabout accident by accident type from developing various types of accident models. The geometric characteristics of 48 roundabouts are surveyed, and the traffic accident data from 2008 to 2014 are collected and classified as accident type. In this study, the dependent variable is the accident rate and independent variables are such 14 variables as geometric structures, speed hump, sign and others. The main results are the followings. First, the null hypotheses that the size of roundabout and type of accident are not related to traffic accident rates are rejected. Second, 6 multiple linear regression models which are all statistically significant are developed. Third, the number of circulatory roadway lane and speed hump are selected as common variables of ‘vehicle-to-vehicle’ accident. Finally, the turning radius of entry lane, on-street parking and driveway are selected as the common variables of ‘vehicle-to-pedestrian’ accident. This study could be expected to give some implications to making strategic safety plans of small-size roundabouts.

        교통 저해요소별 회전교차로 사고모형

        This study deals with the roundabout traffic accidents by traffic impeding factor. The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the characteristics of accidents and to develop the accident models. In pursuing the above, this study used a statistical program SPSS 20.0 to analyze 2,342 accidents occurred within 79 roundabouts in Korea. The main results are as follows. First, 4 accident models which were all statistically significant were developed. Second, the traffic volume and width of right-turn-only lane were analyzed to be common variable in the bus stop related models. The variables such as right-turn-only lane, street light, turning radius of entry lane were selected as specific variables. Especially street light and turning radius of entry lane were evaluated to have negative effects to the accidents. It is, therefore, essential to install the street light and place a sufficient turning radius in order to reduce the roundabout accidents. Finally, the traffic volume and number of entry lane were analyzed to be common variable in the on-street parking related models. Also, the width of right-turn-only lane and bus stop were evaluate to be specific variables in the model with on-street parking. This can be expected to give some implications to making the accident reduction guidelines.

      • 2차로 회전교차로에서 VISSIM을 활용한 버스교통처리에 따른 지체분석

        This study deals with the delay analysis of roundabout. The goal of this study is to comparatively analyze the average delay time by bus traffic treatment in 2-lane roundabouts. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular emphasis on analyzing 130 scenarios consisted of bus ratio, bus-bay and distance between roundabout depending on traffic volume, using VISSIM(Verkehr In Stadten-SIMulationsmodell) simulation programs. The main results are the followings. First, the bus bay is evaluated to be not a good choice in the less bus traffic volume ratio. Second, the bus bay is analyzed to be not appropriate in the case of much bus ratio and location over 200m. Finally, the value judgements between the cost increase and delay decrease of bus bay are analyzed to be very important in the case of much bus ratio and location within 200m. This study might be expected to give implications to the operation of roundabout.

        VISSIM을 활용한 소규모 회전교차로의 지체 분석

        이 연구는 소규모 회전교차로를 다루고 있다. 이 연구는 회전교차로의 평균지체를 분석하고 효율적인 계획 및 설계기준을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 내접원 지름, 회전차로의 속도 및 진입교통량에 따른 평균지체 분석에 중점을 두고있다. 96개($3{\times}4{\times}8$) 시나리오의 운영효율이 교통시뮬레이션 프로그램 VISSIM (Verkehr In $St{\ddot{a}}dten$-SIMulationsmodell)을 사용하여 분석되었다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시나리오 분석을 통해 소규모 회전교차로의 적정 설계속도가 도출되었다. 둘째, 서비스 수준 D에 도달하는 진입교통량은 2,180-2,740pcph인 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 분석 회전교차로에서 혼잡수준 F로 개선이 요구되는 교통량은 2,780pcph 이상으로 평가되었다. 연구 결과는 효율적인 회전교차로 운영을 위한 대응조치를 제공하는 데 몇 가지 함의를 줄 것으로 기대된다. This study deals with the small-scale roundabout. The purpose of this study is to analyze the average delay of vehicle in roundabout, and suggest the efficient planning and design standard. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to analyzing the average delay time according to the inscribed circle diameter, speed of circulatory roadway lane and traffic volume. The operational efficiencies of 96 scenarios (3 sizes of inscribed circle diameter ${\times}$ 4 types of circulatory roadway speed ${\times}$ traffic volume) are analyzed using VISSIM (Verkehr In $St{\ddot{a}}dten$-SIMulationsmodell). The main results are as follows. First, the optimal design speed of small-scale roundabout are derived from the above scenario analysis. Second, the traffic volume of LOS D is estimated to be 2,180-2,740pcph. Third, the traffic volume of LOS F that is required to improve is above 2.780pcph. The results might be expected to give some implications to providing the countermeasures for the operational efficiency of roundabout.

        사고 및 충돌유형에 따른 원형교차로 화물차 사고모형

        This study deals with the traffic accident of truck at circular intersection. The purpose of this study is to develop the truck accident models based on type of accident and conflict. In pursuing the above, the study gives particular attentions to selecting the appropriate models among Poisson and Negative binomial models using statistical program LIMDEP 8.0. The traffic accident data from 2007 to 2014 are collected from TAAS data set of Road Traffic Authority. Such the dependent variable as number of truck accidents and the 24 independent variables as geometry, traffic volume and others are used. The main results are as follows. First, 5 Poisson models (p<sup>2</sup> of 0.164~0.351) which are all statistically significant are selected. Second, the common variable based on type of accident and conflict is analyzed to be truck apron width. The specific variables are, however, evaluated to splitter island, area of splitter island, speed limit sign, truck apron, number approach road, circular intersection sign, speed hump and traffic volume. Finally, widening the truck apron width and improving the above specific variables are analyzed to be important for truck accident reduction at circular intersections.
