해양쓰레기 표면에는 해수에 의한 염분이 존재하여 해양쓰레기를 소각 처리할 경우 다이옥신과 같은 환경문제가 발생할 수 있어 해양쓰레기의 대부분이 매립 처리되고 있다. 염분과 수분의 문제로 해양쓰레기의 경우, 육상쓰레기에 비하여 2, 3배의 높은 처리 비용이 발생하며, 처리 비용을 줄이기 위해 해양쓰레기에서 염분과 수분을 제거하기 위한 효율적인 전처리 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 폐어망에 존재하는 염분을 제거하기 위한 전처리 방법으로 초음파 세척 기술을 고려하였다. 초음파 세척으로 폐어망에 존재하는 염분이 제거되는 효과를 검토하기 위하여 소형 초음파 세척기와 수돗물을 이용하여 동해시에서 발생하는 폐자망에 대한 세척 실험을 진행하였다. 초음파 세척 시간에 따라 폐자망이 세척되는 정도를 검토하기 위하여 전기전도도 센서를 이용하여 세척수의 전기전도도를 연속적으로 계측하였다. 초음파 세척의 영향 인자가 폐자망 초음파 세척에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위하여 주파수, 온도, 폐자암-세척수 비를 변화하며 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과, 초음파 주파수가 낮을 경우 더 짧은 시간에 세척수가 전기전도도가 정상상태에 도달하여 좋은 세척 효과를 나타냈다. 초음파 주파수가 높을 경우 초음파 세척에 고액비와 온도의 영향이 적은 것으로 나타났다. The disposal of marine wastes is problematic due to their high saline contents. Incineration of these saline wastes produces harmful chemical substances such as dioxin. Consequently, most of them are buried in landfills. In addition, the disposal cost of marine debris is two to three times higher than that of land trashes. Therefore, the development of an efficient desalination technique is required to minimize the handling cost. In this paper, ultrasonic technology as a pretreatment method is adopted to remove the saline contents in ghost-nets. To investigate ultrasonic cleaning performance, the washing experiments of raw ghost nets were undertaken with the variables of frequency, temperature, net-water ratio and duration of washing. The electrical conductivity of the wash water was measured to examine the cleaning rate. As a result, when lower frequency ultrasonic was is applied, the conductivity of the wash water reached a steady state in a shorter time, meaning a better cleaning performance. With high frequency, the effects of the solid-liquid ratio and temperature are not significant.
