The purpose of this study was to investigate the technical trend through the analysis of item difficulties on eight floor exercise players participating in 2008 Toyota International gymnastics competitions, and following conclusion is drawn as follows. 1. The mean value of item difficulties performed by eight players is 10.63 ± 0.74. The element C was tried most frequently, and the element A was tried by three players of Germany and Columbia. 2. According to the analysis of item difficulties, only three players performed most lowest element A. In the case of element C, eight players performed totally 37 times, and this element is most popular among players. Among element D, eight players performed Any salto backwords with 5/2t technique, while five players performed Any salto fwd. with 2/1t technique. With respect to element E, total three kinds of techniques were performed by players. 3. Elements by connection were performed by six kinds of techniques. The three kinds of connections by C+C, D+B or B+D difficulties or two kinds of connections by C+C+C or B+D+B difficulties were performed. In conclusion, to obtain high scores in International competition, the abilities of players will be improved to be able to high quality of performance above C element.
한국인 남성 운동선수군에서 Osteocalcin 유전자의 C298T 다형성의 분포와 골밀도와의 관계

Osteocalcin is a vitamin K dependent and bone specific protein which plays an important role in the regulation of bone and calcium metabolism. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between the C298T polymorphism in the osteocalcin gene and bone mineral density (BMD) in Korean young men and their interaction with physical activity. BMDs of the femoral neck and lumbar spine were measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, and the C298T polymorphism in the osteocalcin gene determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-HindⅢ restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method. We did not observe any significant differences in the femoral neck and lumbar spine BMDs across genotypes of this polymorphism in controls, athletes or combined groups, respectively (P>0.05). Therefore, our data suggest that the C298T polymorphism in the osteocalcin gene is not a suitable genetic marker for the susceptibility to BMD.
운동선수군의 혈청 TGF-β₁ 농도 및 유전자 다형성이 심혈관계 기능에 미치는 영향

The objective of this study was to test whether TGF-β1 gene polymorphism and its serum leve are related to cardiovascular function in our subjects including 34 athletes and 35 controls, respectively. Serum biochemical parameters including TGF-β1 level were assayed by automatic analyzer, and data on cardiac structure and function were measured by M-mode echocardiography, respectively. Genotyping of TGF-β1 gene polymorphism was also performed by SNaPshot method. Pearson correlation revealed the significant positive correlation between serum TGF-β1 level and HR(rest) value in controls, while there were significant negative correlation between TGF-β1 level and LV(mass), SV and CO values in athletes, respectively(p<.05). Also, TGF-β1 gene polymorphism was significantly associated with weight in controls, but with serum HDL-cholesterol level in athletes, respectively(p<.05). Further studies using larger sample size and other polymorphisms in TGF-β1 gene will be needed in order to clarify the influence of TGF-β1 gene on cardiovascular function.
The Distribution of Haptoglobin Protein Phenotype in University Gymnastic Players

합토글로빈은(Hp)은 간에서 합성된 후 순환계로 방출되는 철분대사의 항상성을 조절하는 혈장 단백질의 일종으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대학 남성 대조군과 기계체조 선수군을 대상으로 합토글로빈 단백질 다형성의 분포를 조사함과 함께 철분대사와 관련된 변인들과의 관련성 여부를 조사하고자 하였다. 합토글로빈 단백질 다형성의 표현형 분포는, 폴리아크릴 아미드 겔 전기 영동법과 퍼옥시디아제 염색방법에 의해 분석하였으며, 철분대사와 관련된 변인들은 자동분석법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 합토글로빈 단백질 다형성의 분포는 Hp11, Hp21 및 Hp22가 각각 14.0%, 42.0% 및 44.0%인 것으로 나타났으며, 관찰된 표현형의 빈도는 Hardy-Weinberg 평형으로부터 벗어나지 않았다. 또한, 합토글로빈 단백질 다형성은 대조군과 기계체조 선수군 모두 혈청 합토글로빈 농도와 유의한 관련성을 나타내었으며(P < 0.05) 특히, Hp11 표현형(118.4± 33.4 mg/dL)을 갖는 대상자들은 Hp21(79.5 ± 29.5 mg/dL) 및 Hp22 표현형(62.9 ± 23.3 mg/dL)을 갖는 대상자들에 비해 유의하게 높은 혈청 합토글로빈 농도를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 합토글로빈 단백질 다형성이 대조군과 기계체조 선수군을 막론하고 혈철 합토글로빈 농도의 개인차에 유의한 영향을 미친다는 사실을 시사한다. Purpose: Haptoglobin (Hp) is a plasma protein that is synthesized by the liver and released into circulation and which plays an important role in iron metabolism. Methods: In this study, we investigated the distribution of Hp protein polymorphism in a university male control group and gymnast group as well as its correlation with iron metabolism. The phenotype distribution of Hp protein polymorphism was measured by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and peroxidase staining methods, and serum iron metabolism-associated parameters were analyzed automatically. Results: The distribution of Hp protein polymorphism was 14.0%, 42.0% and 44.0% for Hp11, Hp21 and Hp22 phenotypes, respectively. The observed phenotype distribution did not deviate from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. There were no statistically significant differences in phenotype and allele frequencies between the normal control group and the gymnasts. There were significant differences in serum Hp level among each phenotype of Hp gene polymorphism (P < 0.05). In particular, the subjects with the Hp11 phenotype (118.4 ± 33.4 mg/dL) had significantly higher serum Hp concentrations than those with the Hp21 phenotype (79.5 ± 29.5 mg/dL) or the Hp22 phenotype (62.9 ± 23.3 mg/dL). This significance was maintained when the subjects were divided into the control group and the gymnast group. Conclusion: Thus, our data suggest that Hp protein polymorphism significantly affects serum Hp level in the both groups
