Venous thrombosis and thromboembolism appear to occur more often in patient with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The cause of thrombotic complications in IBD is generally considered to be associated with hyper-coagulable conditions. Its prevalence rate ranges from 1% to 8% in clinical studies and rises to 39% in autopsy, but the renal vein thrombosis is very rare complication in ulcerative colitis patient. A 24-year-old man presented with intermittent abdominal pain and hematochezia for 6 months and recently developed pitting edema for few weeks. He was diagnosed as severe ulcerative colitis involving whole colon combined with thrombosis in both renal veins by colonoscopy and computed tomography scan of abdomen. We used steroid for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and both intravenous lower molecular weight heparin and warfarin for renal vein thrombosis. His symptoms were improved after treatment and maintained with mesalazine and warfarin. Follow-up abdominal CT scan showed complete resolution of both renal vein thrombosis. Currently he has been followed up for 2 years with oral mesalazine. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2009;54:248-251)

강원도 태백시 고사리도석광산에 산출하는 점토광물의 산상 및 특성

고사리광산의 도석에는 다량의 석영과 함께 녹니석/스멕타이트 혼합층광물, 운모/스멕타이트 혼합층광물, 카오리나이트와 같은 점토광물이 산출한다. 이들 점토광물에 대해 주로 X-선회절분석과 화학분석 등을 이용하여 광물학적 특성을 검토하였다. 이 광산의 도석은 녹니석/스멕타이트 혼합층광물을 다량 함유하는 것이 특징으로 나타났다. 이 녹니석/스멕타이트 혼합층광물은 Li을 함유하는 돈바싸이트로 된 녹니석층과 바이델라이트에 가까운 스멕타이트층으로 구성된 혼합층구조를 이룬다. 이 곳에 산출하는 운모/스멕타이트 혼합층광물은 모두 약 15% 이하의 팽윤층을 포함하는 것으로 되어 있다. 이 광산의 도석은 백악기의 유문암 및 유문암질 용회암이 열수변질작용을 받아 형성된 것으로 나타났다. 점토광물조합의 분포상태에 의해 대략적인 변질분대가 나누어진다. 중심부인 강변질대에서는 다량의 녹니석/스멕타이트 혼합층광물이 나타나며 카오리나이트가 수반되기도 한다. 그 외곽지역의 약변질대에서는 점토광물로서 운모/스멕타이트 혼합층광물이 주로 나타난다. 카오리나이트는 주로 열극이나 그 주위에 국부적으로 산출되는 경향이 있다. 이와 같은 변질광물들의 산출상태로 볼 때 변질작용의 진행에 따라 운모/스멕타이트 혼합층광물이 먼저 형성된 후 이것의 일부가 녹니석/스멕타이트 혼합층광물 및 카오리나이트로 변화된 것으로 생각된다. 또 카오리나이트는 열수의 공급이 마낳은 열극부에서 녹니석/스멕타이느 혼합층광물은 후기의 변질작용에 의해 형성된 것도 포함된다. The pottery stones from the Gosari mine consist of abundant quartz with the clay minerals such as chlorite/smectitie and mica/smectite interstratified minerals, and kaolinite, Mineralogical characteristics of the clay minerals were examined by X-ray powder diffraction and chemical analysis. The pottery stones in this mine are characterized by large amounts of chlorite/smectitie interstratified mineral. The chemical compositioon of the chlorite/smectitie interstratified mineral indicates that the chlorites are Li-bearing donbassite and the smectites are close to beidellite. Mica/smectite interstratified minerals from the mine area have the mixed layers with expandability less than 15%. The pottery stones in the mine were probably formed by hydrothermal alteration of the Cretaceous rhyolite tuff. The pottery stone deposit can be devided into the zones of hydrothermal alteration on the basis of the clay mineral assemblages. In the centeral zone, strongly altered parts, the rocks are composed of abundant chlorite/smectite interstratified mineral and small amounts of kaolinite. On the other hand, the weakly altered rocks in the outer zone are mainly composed of mica/smectite interstrarified mineral instead of chlorite/smectitie interstratified mineral and kaolinite. 본 광산에서는 견운모, 엽납석, 논니석, 스멕타이트등의 점토광물이 다량 산출되고 있다. 이들 광물의 산상 및 특성을 조사하여 광물의 형성과정을 고찰하였다. 본 광산의 도석은 견운모와 석역을 주성분으로 하는 것이 특징이다. 도석중의 견운모는 주로 2M₁형이며, 석영은 수 미크론 이하의 미립의 것도 다량 포함된다. 또 도석에는 소량의 엽납석 및 백운모가 수반되기도 한다. 도석광상은 백악기층인 유문석영안삼암 내에 배태되어 있고, 이 유문석영안산암을 관입한 석영반암의 인접부에 도석화된 부분이 많은 것으로 보아 석영반암의 관입에 의한 열수작용으로 유문석영안산암이 변질되어 도석광상이 형성된 것으로 사료된다. 본 도석광상의 도석화작용은 모암 내 성분의 용탈작용에 따라 장석과 녹니석이 분해되었고, 이에 수반하여 견운모 및 석영의 침전이 일어났다. 변질암석 내에서 국부적으로 스맥타이트, 로먼타이트, 카오리나이트 등의 광물이 산출된다. 이들의 광물은 주 도석화작용의 이후에 형성되었다. 본 광산에서 변질암 내에 담홍색의 점토질물질로서 바이델라이트가 산출되는데 이는 특기할 만하다. The clay minerals such as sericite, pyrophyllite, chlorite and smectite abundantly occur in the Bobae pottery stone mine in Pusan. In this study, the processes which are responsible for the formation of these minerals were studied by examing their occurrence and mineralogical properties. The so-called pottery stone of this mone is characterized by the predominance of sericite and quartz. The sericite of the pottery stone is mostly 2M₁, type. And many of quartz particles are smaller than a few micron in diameter. The pottery stone also contained a small amount of pyropyllite and muscovite. The pottery stone deposit occurs within the Cretaceous rhydacite and in particularly well developed near the contact with the quartz porphyry which intrudes the rhyodacite. The fact implies that the pottery stone is the product of hydrothermal alteration of the rhyodacite by the intrusion of quartz porphyry. The pottery stone was formed by the alteration that accompanie the dissociation of feldspar and chlorite in parent rocks and subsequent formation of sericte and quartz. Smectitie, laumontite and kaolinite occur locally withein the alterd rocks. These minerals were formed after formation of pottery stone. It is noteworthy that veidellite occurs as a pink-aolvred caly from the altered rocks in the mine.
