To create an ultra-high vacuum state at the KSTAR, the temperature of plasma facing component and vacuum vessel should be maintained at 300℃ and 110℃ respectively at a baking phase. The purpose of this research is obtaining the target baking temperatures. Experiments were performed to investigate the temperature characteristics of PFC and VV at the baking phase. Thermal network analysis was used to find heat transfer rates among PFC, VV and other components, and this analysis was verified by using the experimental data. The required heating energy of the PFC and the heating and cooling energy of the VV for the target baking temperatures were found to be 346 kW, 28 kW, and 136 kW, respectively.

KSTAR is the final aim that is development of the nuclear fusion power plant to generate the green and stable high-capacity electricity. Most of the components of KSTAR are to obtain the thermal stability by deionized (DI) water. KSTAR performed the plasma experiment annual is used the electric energy of many billions won per year, and the cooling water system (CWS) currently comprise about twenty five percent of the total energy. Therefore, the CWS should be minimized fabrication, operation and maintenance costs. In order to minimize the life cycle cost (LCC), the CWS has design features as following: to classify as a pulse load cooling loop type operated intermittently and a continuous load cooling loop type operated continuously, to apply two-step heat exchanger (HE) in the cooling loops, to install the by-pass pipe between the cooling tower water loops and the chilled water loops for shutdown chillers in winter, to equip a separate small pump system and interface piping because the first neutral beam injection (NBI-1) is carried out the experiment operation at day and the standby unload one, being operation for beamline vacuum, at night, and to fit a 3-way valve and a pre-cooler in a plasma facing component (PFC) nitrogen gas baking system. In operation results, we analyzed the flow stream in a cooling water storage tank and a tower water header, the water temperature state in the two-step HE, and the performance of a polishing system, the NBI-1 cooling system and the PFC nitrogen gas baking system.
무시멘트형 VerSys 대퇴스템을 이용한 일차적 고관절 전치환술

목적: 근위부 환형 미세포말 부위에 칼시코트 제재를 도포한 VerSys Fiber Metal Midcoat 대퇴스템을 이용하여 무시멘트형 고관절 전치환술을 시행 후 임상적 및 방사선학적 결과를 분석하였다. 대상 및 방법: 최소 5년 이상(5년~7년 6개월) 추시가 가능하였던 33명(39예)를 대상으로 하였으며, 임상적 결과는 Harris 고관절 점수를 측정하였고, 방사선학적 분석은 대퇴스템 주위의 방사선 투과선, 피질골 비후, 응력 방패에 의한 근위부 골흡수, 골용해 및 대퇴스템의 안정도와 비구컵 주위의 골용해 및 비구컵의 안정도를 분석하였다. 결과: 평균 Harris 고관절 점수는 술 전 54.2점에서 최종 추시 시 95.4점이었다. 대퇴스템 주위의 방사선 투과선 9예, 피질골 비후 1예, 응력 방패에 의한 근위부 골흡수 36예, 골용해 3예였으며 대퇴스템은 38예에서 골내성장, 1예에서 안정된 섬유성 고정을 나타냈다. 비구컵은 38예에서 골내성장, 1예에서 불안정성 고정을 나타냈으며 골용해는 2예에서 관찰되었다. 결론: VerSys Fiber Metal Midcoat 대퇴스템은 최소 5년 이상 추시 결과 대퇴스템 주위의 골용해 발생 빈도는 적었으나, 응력 방패에 의한 대퇴 근위부 골흡수는 높은 빈도로 발생하여 이에 대해서는 장기간의 지속적 관찰이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: This study evaluated the clinical and radiographic results of primary total hip arthroplasty with a noncemented VerSys Fiber Metal Midcoat stem. Materials and Methods: Thirty nine hips in thirty three patients were followed up for a minimum of five years. The clinical results were evaluated based on the Harris hip scores. Radiographic analysis of the femoral component was performed by evaluating the radiolucent lines, cortical hypertrophy, stress shielding, osteolysis and fixation stability. Radiographic analysis of the acetabular component was performed by evaluating the osteolysis and fixation stability. Results: The average Harris hip score improved from 54.3 points preoperatively to 95.4 points at the last follow-up. In the results of radiographic analysis of the femoral component, stable bony ingrowth was noted in thirty-eight cases and stable fibrous ingrowth was observed in one. Non-progressive radiolucency < 2 mm in width was observed in eight cases. There were three cases of osteolysis, thirty-six cases of stress shielding, and one case of cortical hypertrophy. Radiographic analysis of the acetabular component revealed stable bony ingrowth in thirty-eight cases and unstable fixation in one case. There were two cases of osteolysis. Conclusion: The results of primary total hip arthroplasty using cementless VerSys femoral stem after a minimum of five-year follow up revealed that the rate of femoral osteolysis had decreased and the rate of bone resorption by stress shielding was relatively high. However, a longer-term follow up will be needed.
KSTAR PFC GN<SUB>2</SUB> BAKING SYSTEM 의 최적설계와 운전결과에 관한 연구

PFC nitrogen gas (GN<SUB>2</SUB>) baking system is a closed-loop system and consists of a compressor (nitrogen gas), a electric heater, a pre-cooler (gas vs. gas), a cooler (gas vs. water), a vacuum pump, etc. The system has the following characteristics: 1)Because the compressor cannot be operated at 350℃, the cooler is installed at its suction pipe in order to keep its suction gas temperature below 90℃; 2) The high temperature nitrogen gas fed into the PFC source an energy from compression heat of the compressor and heat retrieved of the pre-cooler to reduce the heaters capacity and those become saving operational energy highly; 3) The heater power is regulated by the temperature of the heater outlet gas through feedback control. For the heating operation in the fourth campaign, the temperature of GN<SUB>2</SUB> supplied was raised to 300℃; PFC temperature reached 250℃. This paper describes the optimum design of PFC GN<SUB>2</SUB> baking system and its operating results.
진행된 Kienböck 질환에서 Anthovy's Technique을 병행한 주상유두골 유합술과 유구유두골 유합술 시행 후 임상적 결과에 대한 후향적 연구

목적: 본 연구에서는 진행된 Kienbock 질환에 대해 괴사되어 붕괴된 월상골을 제거한 후 장수장 건의 충진술 및 주상유두골 유합술 또는 유구유두골 유합술을 시행 받은 11명의 임상결과를 후향적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1989년 1월부터 2000년 5월 사이에 Lichtman 제 3기 이상의 진행된 Kienbock 질환으로 진단받은 후 월상골 제거술, 장수장 건 충진술 및 제한적 수근 골간 유합술을 시행 받고 5년 이상 추시가 가능하였던 11명을 대상으로 하였다. 11명의 환자 중에서 7명은 유구유두골 유합술을, 4명은 주상유두골 유합술을 시행받았으며 임상적 결과는 Evans’ scoring system을 사용하였다. 결과: 술 후 모든 환자에서 방사선학적으로 수근골간 유합 소견 및 파지력의 증가를 관찰할 수 있었고 대부분의 환자에서 완관절의 굴신 운동 범위는 술 전보다 증가하였으며 특히 유구유두골 유합술을 시행 받은 군에서 보다 우수한 결과를 보였다. 결론: 진행된 Kienbock 질환에서 월상골의 제거 후 건의 충진술과 병행한 골 유합술 후 5년의 장기 추시결과 비교적 양호한 임상적 결과를 나타냈으며 유구유두골 유합술에서 보다 양호한 관절 운동 범위를 나타냈다. 이는 완관절의 생역학적인 면을 고려하였을 때 근위 수근열 및 원위 수근열간 유합술이 완관절의 운동 범위 회복에 좋지 않은 영향을 미치기 때문으로 생각된다. Purpose : A retrograde analysis of the clinical results of 11 cases of Kienbock's disease (Lichtman stage Ⅲ), who underwent surgery for scaphocapitate or hamatocapitate arthrodesis followed by a rolled palmaris tendon replacement after a collapsed lunate excision. Materials and Methods : This study followed-up 11 patients diagnosed with advanced Kienbock's disease for more than 5 years from January 1989 through May 2000. The patient’s age ranged from 25 to 65 years old. Among the 11 patients, 7 patients received hamatocapitate arthrodesis, and the remainder received scaphocapitate arthrodesis. The Evans’ scoring system was used for the clinical evaluation. Results : After surgery, all patients showed complete radiologic fusion and an increase in grip strength, and most patients showed an increase in the ROM of a wrist joint, particularly in the group who received hamatocapitate arthrodesis. Conclusion : In advanced Kienbock’s disease, a lunate excision followed by rolled tendon replacement with limited intercarpal arthrodesis showed relatively good results during the follow-up period, and had a particularly better ROM of the wrist joint in hamatocapitate arthrodesis, than the scaphocapitate arthrodesis because of the arthrodesis between the proximal and distal carpal row in the biomechanical aspect of the carpal bone.

Appendiceal mucocele is a cystic dilatation of the appendiceal lumen with mucus, which may be caused by either benign or malignant diseases. In this report, five cases of appendiceal mucocele are reported, three of which had a preoperative diagnosis of mucocele, whereas the others were found incidentally during the operation under the diagnosis of intussusception and periappendiceal abscess. All five patients underwent surgical resections, including one ileocecal resection and four right hemicolectomies. Histopathology revealed a mucinous cystadenoma in four cases, and a mucinous cystadenocarcinoma in one. There was no disease-related death during 18 months of follow-up.
