This paper develops the conceptual framework for ITS in Taejon metropolitan area. Various types of ITS are introduced and traffic conditions in Taejon are investigated for developing the appropriate ITS in Taejon, Also interview surveys for ITS were performed. The feasibilities and priorities for each subsystem such as UTCS, APTS, ATIS, FTMS, CVO, AVCS for Taejeon are suggested. The Integrated Traffic Information Center is recommended.

This study aims to analyze the traffic flow characteristics and capacity of tunnel segments of 4-lane freeways. Traffic flow data are collected and processed at 5-min intervals with image sensing system. Correlations of the three variables, such as, flow rate, speed, density are examined and curve fittings for the macroscopic speed-density, flow rate-density, speed-flow rate models are performed. Capacities estimated by various ways are compared. Finally it is concluded that Greenberg and Underwood models are best fitted for traffic flow relationship curves of tunnel segments. And capacity reductions for tunnel segments of 4-lane freeways are about 12% at entrance.

This Paper aims to emphasize the availability of bicycle as a urban travel made and to suggest the guideline for bicycle policy and network planning .Many attractivenesses of the mode are found out in view of transportation efficiency environmental and health aspects. Conclusions are followings: First, for more usage of bicycle, governmntal efforts, legislation, research and developments for bicycle are needed. Second , hierarchical structure of bicycle network is efficient especially in large city, Third and alternative of bicycle network for Daejeon CBD is suggested.

The purpose of this paper are to diagnose the current state of bus transit management in Daejeon, to find out the main problems and to suggest the improvement methods for them. For these, we analized line characteristics such as number of lines, line lengths, trip times, passenger per day, head way of transits so on. Travel demand estimation for bus nerwork is implemented too. Various type of supports for Bus Transit are compared, and finally the feasible supporting methods are suggested for the Daejeon bus systems.

This thesis investigates the work trip mode choice behavior by different kind of jobs using interview survey data for Taejeon (1999). The Logit model is applied to build up the utility function for alternatives. Travel costs, travel times, sex, license hold and income levels are selected as explanatory variables. Three types of model are compared and analyzed by different kinds of jobs. As a results, the coefficient of travel time for employee of company is -0.7406, -0.7249 for production/commerce/construction, -0.1188 for public officials, -0.1529 for technical experts, -2.393 for service jobs. The coefficient for service men is higher than others. The coefficient of travel cost/income for technical experts is -0.03474, -0.02804 for employee of company, -0.2964 for production/commerce/construction. Elasticity analysis for the models shows that travel costs of passenger cars and travel times of buses, are dominant variables for mode choice behavior of work trip by different jobs. In case of service jobs which are more sensitive than other jobs, 1% increase of bus travel times results decrease of -0.9157 unit of demands.
Hooke-and-Jeeves 기법에 의한 최적가로망설계

Development is given to an optimal network design method using continuous design variables. Modified Hooke-and-Jeeves algorithm is implemented in order to solve nonlinear programming problem which is approximately equivalent to the real network design problem with system efficiency crieteria and improvement cost as objective function. the method was tested for various forms of initial solution, and dimensions of initial step size of link improvements. At each searching point of evaluating the objective function, a link flow problem was solved with user equilibrium principles using the Frank-Wolfe algorithm. The results obtained are quite promising interms fo numbers of evaluation, and the speed of convergence. Suggestions are given to selections of efficient initial solution, initial step size and convergence criteria. An approximate method is also suggested for reducing computation time.
