This article proposes a variable sampling interval (VSI) X<SUP>-</SUP> control chart using weighted standard deviation (WSD) method for skewed populations. The WSD method decomposes the standard deviation of a quality characteristic into upper and lower deviations and adjusts control limits and warning limits of a control chart in accordance with the direction and degree of skewness. A control chart constant is derived for estimating the standard deviation of skewed distributions with the mean of sample standard deviations. The proposed chart is compared with the conventional VSI X<SUP>-</SUP> control chart under some skewed distributions. Simulation study shows that the proposed WSD VSI chart can control the in-control average time to signal (ATS) as an adequate level better than the conventional VSI chart, and the proposed chart can detect a decrease in the process mean of a quality characteristic following a positively skewed distribution more quickly than the standard VSI chart.

Purpose: This study is on the priority for improving students satisfaction in university educational service. It explores the dimension of service quality and analyzes the relationship among quality elements, service satisfaction, and loyalty. Methods: This paper performs empirical studies by questionnaire survey. The Timko model is used for finding the degree of possible improvement of quality elements, and structural equation and regression models are used to analyze the effect of them on service satisfaction and loyalty. Also, explanatory factor analysis is used to investigate the quality determinants. Results: The quality dimension is composed of curriculum, employment support, interaction with outsiders, start-up support, learning support, counselling, and administration service. Curriculum, learning support, and administration service are positively correlated with service satisfaction, and service satisfaction has a positive effect on loyalty. Counselling service is an attractive element, and curriculum, start-up support, and learning support are indifferent elements. Conclusion: Comprehensive analysis shows that curriculum, academic advisor, and administration service have high priorities for improving educational service satisfaction.
중소기업의 연구개발 및 생산운영관리 개선영역 도출에 관한 연구

This paper investigates and selects the areas that need to be improved in R&D and production management of small and medium size companies. The study on the capability of R&D and production management shows that the areas for evaluating of the R&D and production management levels are composed of 8 elements:R&D resource, R&D support and experience, long-term operations strategy, intermediate range planning, short-term planning, subcontractor management, logistics and inventory management, and quality management. The investigation of the gap between the importance of the areas and the capability of SMEs shows that the most important things are to consolidate supply chain, to improve product and process competitiveness using quality improvement, and to enhance production management through sophisticated short-term planning. The detailed analysis also shows that the areas that need to be improved depend on the size and sales of the company.
고정표본채취시점을 갖는 가변표본채취간격 다변량 T² 관리도

This paper proposes a variable sampling interval multivariate T² control chart with sampling at fixed times, where samples are taken at specified equally spaced fixed time points and additional samples are allowed between these fixed times when indicated by the preceding T² statistics. At fixed sampling points, the T² statistics are composed of all quality characteristics and a part of quality characteristics are selected to obtain T² statistics at additional sampling points. A Markov chain approach is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed chart. Numerical studies for the performance of the proposed chart show that the proposed chart reduces the observations obtained from a process and detects the assignable cause of a process with low correlated quality characteristics quickly.
