Pathological studies, on the lung of 27 cases of bovine parasitic bronchitis which were secured from abattoirs in Korea, were performed and discussed. The chief pathological findings were as follows. Grossly, the lungs were shown various degree of lobular consolidation, collapse and alveolar emphysema around the bronchi in which nematodes of Dictyocaulus viviparus were present. Emphysema and edema were observed in the interlobular septa. The lesions were encountered mostly in the caudal and ventral borders of the diaphragmatic lobes. In all the cased of parasitic bronchitis in which thickening of the visceral pleura and fibrinous deposition on the pleural surfaces were not seemed to be entirely due to the lungworm infection. Microscopically, bronchopneumonia, peribronchial and peribronchiolar lymphoid hyperplasia, lympho-reticular broncho-occlusive legion, and bleakthrough lesion were examined in the affected lungs.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect on the liver of guinea pig after administration of 4.5mCi per Kg. body wt. with iodine-131. The histological changes in the liver were degeneration of hepatic cells, congestion of sinusoids, dilatation of bile ducts, perivascular infiltration of lymphocytes, and dissociation of hepatic cords. A marked histological changes were produced after treatment for 14 days and the morphological recoveries were observed 28 days after the treatment.

This experiment was performed in order to investigate the effect of radioiodine upon the uterus and the ovary of guinea pigs. The animals were injected single dose of 4. 5 mCi of radioiodine per kg of body weight. They were sacrificed on various time intervals; 1, 7, 14, 28, 42 and 56 days after the injection. The results were as follows: 1. In the ovary, the follicle cells and the ova were degenerated with lapse of time after the injection. 2. In the uterus, hyperplasia of the lamina propria of the endometrium and atrophy of the myometrium were observed in accordance with time after the injection.

Tropical fire ant로 알려진 Solenopsis geminata (Fabricius)는 열대 및 온대지역에 분포하는 잡식성 개미로서, 식물에 피해를 주기도 하지만 야외활동을 하는 사람들이 물릴 경우 심하게 부어오르고 통증을 유발하는 위생해충으로 유명하며 우리나라에 침입 시 제주도 및 남부지방의 농경지 및 산림에 피해를 줄 것으로 예상되어 현재 식물방역법상 관리해충으로 지정된 종이다. 이 개미는 선박을 통하여 항구주위에서 먼저 정착하여 확산되고 있으며, 현재 동남아, 중국남부지역에서 급격히 확산되고 있다. 우리나라에서는 1990년대에는 수입식물검역 과정에서 검출실적이 1건이었으나 2000년부터 검출빈도가 증가추세에 있어 2006년도에는 7건이 검출되어 국내 침입이 우려되고 있다. 따라서, 동종에 대한 형태, 분포, 기주식물, 생태 등에 대한 자료를 정리하여 금후 수입식물검역시 참고하고 국내 침입시 조기 박멸하기 위한 자료로 이용하고자 한다. Tropical fire ant, Solenopsis geminata (Fabricius) is distributed over the tropical and temperate areas. It is a polyphagous pest attacking to various plant and causes the pain to the people doing outdoor work. So it is known for a hygienic pest to human being, especially the people doing outdoor activities. It can cause severe pain to human, even with just a bite. Of particular concern is the possibility of its settlement in this country, if it invade to the farmlands and/or forests of Jeju Island and southern part in Korea. It is listed as a regulated pest in Plant Quarantine Act of Korea. This ant is usually imported through a ship and early settled in the port area where it is already distributed. Recently its distribution is rapidly spreading into Southeast Asia and southern part of China. In Korea, it was detected the one time in 1990s, but was detected the ten times from 2000 to 2006 by an imported plant quarantine process. Therefore, we would like to provide some information on the species, including morphology, distribution, host plant, damaged symptom and its general bionomics, which will be useful data for plant quarantine process and control.
자기변형 분말 나노 접착을 적용한 원격 마이크로 작동기의 제작 및 특성 분석

Magnetostrictive actuator is fabricated with powder nano bonding method instead of sputtering method. Fabrication process and experimental measurement method for magneto-mechanical characteristics is proposed. For the design of highly flexible magnetostrictive actuator, TbDyFe nano powder bonding with Teflon substrate is adopted. The fabrication process for Teflon substrate and nano powder bonding is suggested and magnetostrictive behaviors are investigated. Variable magnetic field is applied to measure the magnetostrictive characteristics and magnetostriction is measured with different waves and different magnitude of magnetic field.

최근 일본에서 독개미류(Solenopsis geminata, S. invicta)의 항구지역에 대한 집중 조사 및 방제를 실시하고 있다.한국에서는 남쪽 지방의 항구가 발생 가능 지역에 포함되어 있어 국내 침입여부를 확인하기 위한 조사를 실시하였다.부산항 지역을 대상으로 조사한 결과 3아과 10종의 분포를 확인하였다. 그 중 1종은 국내 미분포종인 Paratrechinalongicornis 였으며, 발견 즉시 발생지를 포함여 주변에 대한 약제살포 등의 방제작업을 실시하였고, 추후 발생여부를 계속 모니터링하고 있다. 현재까지 추가 발견이 없어 박멸에 성공한 것으로 판단된다.

This study was carried out to investigate on the morphology, distribution and stainability of the mast cells in the Korean Native goat. For the study, the experimental animals were anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium and opened the anterior abdomianl wall to remove immediately the specimens with a minimum of mechanical effects. The mesenteries were fixed in 10% neutral formalin, 4% basic lead acetate, absolute alcohol and ethlene glycol monoethyl ether. Following 24 hours of fixation, the toto preparation stained with 0.4% toluidine blue, 1% methylene blue, 1.5% bismark brown, saturated thionine and thionlne-methylene blue complex solution. The preparation were observed from 10 microscopic field with 450 magnification. The results were as follows: 1. The form of the mesenteric mast cell was found 2 types. One was spindle form in larger number around vessels, the other was ovoid or spherical form in connective tissue far from blood vessels. 2. The average size was $18.63{\pm}5.75{\mu}m$ in length, $10.61{\pm}3.39{\mu}m$ in width and number was $105.50{\pm}18.45$. 3. Ethylene glycol monoethyl ether was particularly useful in preserving the mast cell granules. 4. Thione-methylene blue complex solution might be recommended to stain of granules.
급성 CO 중독회복기에 있어서 생쥐 신장 Alkaline phosphatase 활성 변화에 관한 조직화학적 연구

The present investigation was to find out the changes of renal alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity during recovery periods after carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. For this purpose, the mice, were poisoned with 1 % CO for 1 hour and 0.5% CO for 8 hours. After acute CO-poisoning the experimental animal was exposed to fresh air for 1 to 24 hours. The changes of alkaline phosphatase activity was examined histochemically after exposure to fresh air by modified Gomori method. The following results were obtained; 1. Renal ALP activity was recovered after 18 hours exposure to fresh air in the case of 1% COpoisoning. 2. Renal ALP activity was recoverd after 24 hours exposure to fresh air in the case of 0.5% COpoisoning. 3. Renal ALP activity is changed remarkedly to brush border of proximal convoluted tubules.
