N/A We reviewed 10 cases of leptomentingeal car cinomatosis seen at the Yonsei Medical Center and Yonsei Cancer Canter from August 1987 to April 1989. The primary diseases of meningeal metastasis were stomach cancer (5 cases), lung cancer (3 cases) and breast cancer (1 cases). In one case, the primary site was not identified. Signs and symptoms were classified as involving the brain, cranial nerves, or spinal nerves. Most patients had symptoms or signs in more than one area. On initial spinal fluid examination of 7 patients, 4 patients had cytologic evidence of leptomeningeal metastasis. Repested spinal fluid assay yielded a positive cytology in anjother 2 patients. Eight patients were treated by intrathecal methotrexate administration and/or brain radiotherapy. Five of them experienced improvement or stabilization of neurologic sympoms; median survival was 40 days (27~45 days) after diagnosis. Median survival of the remaining 3 nonresponders was 17 days (15~18 days) after diagnosis. We concluded that active treatment of leptomentingeal carcinomatosis with intrathecal methotrexate and brain irradiation may increase the quality of life, and further-more, may prolong survival in some patients.
폐롭스카이트형 산화물 촉매에 의한 프로필렌의 완전산화반응

비금속 촉매인 페롭스카이트형 산화물(ABO₃)을 제조하여, 자동차 배기가스중에 포함되어 있는 탄화수소중의 하나인 프로필렌에 대한 완전산화반응 촉매로 이용하였다. 촉매는 고온소성법에 의하여 제조하였으며, 제조된 촉매는 소성온도가 낮아짐에 따라 촉매의 표면적이 크고 활성이 좋았다. LaCoO₃와 LaMnO₃ 촉매에 있어서 A-점이온의 일부가 적당량의 Sr로 치환됨에 따라 활성이 향상되었으며, LaMn0₃ 보다는 LaCoO₃의 활성이 더 좋았다. 이는 촉매의 환원능과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 알았다. 미량의 백금을 doping시킨 촉매는 원촉매보다 활성이 좋았고, SO₂에 대한 피독에도 강하였다. 미분형반응기를 이용하여 반응차수를 결정하였으며, 반응온도가 증가함에 따라 프로필렌의 반응차수는 증가한 반면, 산소의 반응차수는 감소하였다. Perovskite-type oxides(ABO₃) were prepared and used for the complete oxidation of propylene which is one of hydrocarbons in the automobile exhaust gas. Perovskite catalysts were prepared at different calcination temperatures, and the lower calcination temperature gave the higher activity and surface area of the catalyst. In the case of LaCoO₃ and LaMnO₃, substitution of proper amount of Sr into A-site enhanced the activity, and Co showed higher activity than Mn for B-site. The results were explained with the reducibility of the catalysts. The catalysts doped with the trace amount of Pt showed higher activity and better resistance to sulfur poisoning by SO₂ than those without Pt. The reaction orders were determined, and the orders with respect to propylene and oxygen were increased and decreased with the increase of reaction temperature, respectively.

조촉매가 첨가된 팔라듐 담지촉매를 이용해서 합성가스로부터 메탄올 합성 실험을 수행하였으며, 반응조건은 전압 10-20atm, 온도 230-310℃이었다. 조촉매로서 CaO, MgO, La₂O₃를 이용했으며, 메탄올 합성 활성도 순위는 다음과 같다. Pd+Ca/SiO₂> Pd+Mg/SiO₂〉Pd+La/SiO₂>Pd/SiO₂ 모든 촉매에서 메탄올 선택도는 space velocity가 증가함에 따라서 증가했다. Space velocity 10,000 hr^(-1), 280℃ 그리고 전압 10atm(H₂/CO=2)의 반응조건하에서, 조촉매를 첨가한 경우 대략 98% 정도의 메탄올 선택도를 보였고, 조촉매가 없는 경우는 약 50% 정도의 메탄올 선택도를 나타냈다. 메탄올 합성반응기구는 조촉매의 종류에 관계없이 일정한 것으로 추정된다. Methanol synthesis from synthesis gas over four supported Pd catalysts has been carried out at 230-310℃ and 10-20 atm of total pressure. CaO, MgO, and La₂O₃ were used as promoters. The activity for methanol synthesis decreased in the order of Pd+Ca/SiO₂>Pd+Mg/SiO₂ > Pd+ La/SiO₂ > Pd/SiO₂. The selectivities for methanol increased with space velocity over all catalysts. At high space velocity (10,000 hr^(-1)), 280℃ and 10 atm of total pressure (H₂/CO=2) the selectivities of methanol were almost 98% for all three promoted catalysts and about 50% for unpromoted Pd/SiO₂ catalyst. It is suggested that promoters do not change the mechanism of methanol formation in this study.
