For optimum design of axial-vane type cyclone, a number of vane, degree of an angle, inlet velocity and length of vortex finder should be decided, and 50% cut diameter can be calculated from tangential velocity. In this paper, tangential velocity in cyclone and it's pressure drop were predicted by using CFD(Computational fluid dynamics) method. The simulation results are in general good agreement with empirical knowledge. Especially, less and less degree of an angle go into, 50% cut diameter was decreased and pressure drop was increased. As the number of vanes and length of vortex finder was increased, the fractional collection efficiency and pressure drop also increased. The 50% cut diameter decreases from 3.0㎛ to 1.2㎛ by structure of cyclone.

The purposes of using cutting fluid during cutting have been colling, lubricating, chip washing and anti-corroding. However, the present manufactaring industry restricts the use of cutting fluid because cutting fluid confains poisonous substances which are harmful to the human body. Also, the optimum design oil-mist collector. Finally, the new oil mist collector was designed. In the near future, this device must be tested in the real machining center and CNC machine.
