The Kongju Basin, located between the Ogcheon fold belt and the Geynggi massif, comprises Cretaceous sedimentary rocks and bounded by the strike-slip faults. The basin shows elongated rhombic shape trending roughly NE-SW with about 4km in width and about 25km in length. Two strips of shear zone were traced in basement rocks along the northeastern and southeastern boundaries of the basin, respectively. Cretaceous sedimentary rocks within the Kongju basin is affected by the simple traspression in terms of the en-echolon arrayed folds developed in Cretaceous sedimentary rocks and the flower structure developed along the boundaries of the basin.

Temperature and pH-responsive hydrogels were prepared with the combination of various monomers such as N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), acrylamide(AAm), n-butoxymethylacrylamide (nBMA), poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEG), and acrylic acid (AAc). 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid was chosen as the herbicide loaded into hydrogel. Volume transition, swelling behavior and release property were studied for these hydrogels. Poly(NIPAAm) hydrogel showed the sensitivity to the thermal stimuli at around 30℃ with a large volume change. nBMA was incorporated in a proper composition for the preparation of thermal stimuli-sensitive hydrogels which had a sharp volume transition temperature around 15℃. The hydrogels which have AAc as one of their components showed very different behavior depending on the pH. Volume transition temperature, degree of swelling and release rate were varied significantly depending on the content of comonomer, graft, and crosslinker.
