Field Emission Display(FED) has significant advantages over existing display technologies, particularly in the area of small and high quality display. In order to test the feasibility of fabricating the System-on-Chip(SOC) with FED, we conducted the experiment to use the p-n junction as an electron beam source for the flat panel display. A novel structure was constructed to form p-n junctions by generating inversion layer with the electric field from the cantilever style gate. When we applied more than 220V at the cantilever style gate which has a height of $1{\mu}m$, avalanche breakdown onset was successfully achieved. The characteristics was compared with the electron emission from the ultra shallow junction in the avalanche region. The experiment result and the future direction were discussed.

Ultra thin Si p-n junctions shallower than $300{\AA}$ were fabricated and biased to the avalanche regime. The ultra thin junctions were fabricated to be parallel to the surface and exposed to the surface without $SiO_2$ layer. Those junctions emitted white light and electrons when junctions were biased in the avalanche breakdown regime. Therefore, we could observe the avalanche breakdown region visually. We could also observe the influence of electric field to the current flow visually by observing the white light which correspond to the avalanche breakdown region. Arrayed diodes emit light and electrons uniformly at the diode area. But, the reverse leakage current were larger than those of ordinary diodes, and the breakdown voltage were less than 10V.
Intrinsically Stretchable Organic Solar Cells with High Efficiency
Vol.46 No.2
Stretchable organic solar cells (SOSCs) are attracting considerable attention for wearable electronics, including biosensors, electronic skins, and stretchable displays. Although SOSCs possess promising properties such as high power-per-weight output and strong durability under repetitive tensile strains, they remain proof of concept, as they do not satisfy the required performance for wearable electronics. Reconciling high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and reasonable stretchability is a difficult task. This study reports highly efficient and intrinsically SOSCs by integrating multiple stretchable layers with strong bindings. Our SOSC has reached the highest efficiency of 11.2% PCE, the highest as far as we know, with remarkable stretchability; it also maintained over 74% of the initial PCE when subjected to 10% strain for 1,000 cycles.

The Silver-Russell syndrome(SRS) is a clinically heterogeneous syndrome characterized by intrauterine and postnatal growth retardation with spared cranial growth, characteristic facial features, and body asymmetry. Although mild to moderate hypoglycemic symptoms occasionally appear in children with SRS especially those who are not fed frequently and regularly, hypoglycemic seizures rarely occur. We report a rare case of SRS which was diagnosed in a 4-year-old female who admitted with hypoglycemic seizure. The patient showed the haracteristic features of SRS. Endocrinologic studies were normal except for partial growth hormone insufficiency. To prevent seizures and chronic neurologic deficits in children with SRS, the early recognition and appropriate management of hypoglycemia is critical.
