        취업모의 일—가정갈등이 학령 초기 아동의 스마트폰 의존에 미치는 영향: 우울과 양육행동의 순차적 매개효과

        Objectives: This study examined the processes linking employed mothers’ work-family conflicts and early school-age children’s smartphone dependency, focusing on the sequential mediational role of employed mothers’ depression and parenting behaviors. Methods: Data were collected from 310 employed mothers in South Korea with children between 1<SUP>st</SUP> and 3<SUP>rd</SUP> grades (boys: 153, girls: 157) at elementary school. Only mothers and their early school-age children with their own smartphones participated in the current study. A sequential mediational model was analyzed using the PROCESS for macro program. Results: First, employed mothers’ work-family conflict had a significant direct effect on children’s smartphone dependency. Second, neither depression nor parenting behavior was a significant single mediator in the relationship between employed mothers’ work-family conflicts and children’s smartphone dependency. Third, the indirect path linking employed mothers’ work-family conflicts and children’s smartphone dependency through depression and parenting behavior was significant, and the sequential mediational model was supported. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of understanding the mechanisms that facilitate the development of early school-age children’s smartphone dependency. This study focused on the role of work-family conflicts to highlight how employed mothers’ difficulties with dual responsibilities for work and family may be linked to their less optimal emotional and behavioral functioning which may lead to smartphone dependency in early school-age children.

        초등학교 고학년 아동의 부모, 교사 및 또래와의 관계유형: 정신건강, 학업스트레스, 학업동기 및 학업성취도와의 관계

        Objectives: Relationships with people in the immediate environment can significantly influence children’s development. Focusing on children’s relationships with parents, teachers, and peers, this study adopted a person-centered approach to examine children’s different relationship profiles and how those profiles are related to their psychological and academic adjustment. Most previous studies have tested the effects of these relationships in isolation. Methods: The study sample was 6,784 sixth graders (3,326 boys, 3,458 girls) attending elementary schools who had participated in Wave 2 of the Korea Educational Longitudinal Study2013. The data were analyzed through latent profile analysis. Wald X2 tests (DU3STEP) were used to test the profiles’ relations with mental health, academic stress, academic motivation, and academic achievement. Results: Four unique profiles of children’s relationships emerged: ‘high overall’ (29.0%), ‘middle overall’ (41.1%), ‘low overall’ (26.5%), and ‘low overall/lowest teacher-student relationship’ (3.4%). The high overall group showed significantly higher adjustment across all indices compared to the other three groups. The middle overall group also showed significantly better adjustment compared to the low overall and low overall/lowest teacher-student relationship groups across all indices except for controlled motivation. The low-overall group showed significantly lower academic stress compared to the lowoverall/lowest teacher-student group. Conclusion: Children experience different relationships in their immediate environment simultaneously. This study highlighted the need to focus on the quality of children’s relationships in different contexts and their impact on children’s psychological and academic adjustment. Relationships with teachers, which showed the most noticeable differences across the profiles, should be emphasized.

        부모, 교사 및 또래와의 관계가 아동의 창의성에 미치는 영향

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine pathways from children’s relationships with parents, teachers, and peers to their creativity and to determine the mediating role of selfdetermination. Methods: The sample of this study were 6,051 children (2,970 boys, 3,081 girls) who were 5th graders at elementary schools and participated in Wave 1 of the Korea Educational Longitudinal Study 2013. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlations and structural equation modeling with SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. Results: Based on the research objectives, two important results were summarized. First, relationships with parents, teachers, and peers had significant direct effects on children’s creativity. Second, relationships with parents, teachers, and peers had significant indirect effects on children’s creativity through self-determination. Conclusions: The results of this study highlight the significant roles of children’s important relationships on creativity, which have seldom been emphasized in previous studies on creativity. It is also notable that self-determination, which is known to be based on the fulfillment of basic psychological needs, played a significant mediating role between children’s relationships and their creativity. These findings can be used as an important contribution to further research and educational practices for promoting creativity in children.

        부모의 과잉간섭과 청소년의 우울 및 자아정체감이 자기조절학습능력에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 학습자의 능동적이고 주도적인 학습이 강조되는 현시점에서, 청소년의 자기조절학습능력에 미치는 부모의 과잉간섭과 청소년의 우울 및 자아정체감의 영향력을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원에서 2010년도부터 중 학교 1학년 학생들을 추적 조사한 한국아동·청소년패널조사 자료 중, 6차년도 조사에 참여한 청소년 2,054명(남: 1,040명, 여: 1,014명)을 대상으로 구조방정식모형을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 부모의 과잉간섭과 청소년의 자기조절학습능력 간 직접경로는 유의하지 않았다. 간접경로 분석 결과, 부모의 과잉간섭이 청소년의 우울을 통해 자기조절학습능력에 미치는 경로는 유의하지 않았으나, 부모의 과잉간섭이 청소년의 자아정체감을 통해 자기조절학습능력에 미치는 경로는 유의하였다. 부모의 과잉간섭이 순차적으로 청소년의 우울 및 자아정체감을 통하여 자기조절학습능력에 미치는 경로 또한 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 관련 선행연구가 부족한 가운데, 본 연구는 청소년의 자기조절학습능력과 밀접한 관련이 있는 부모의 특성 및 청소년 본인의 사 회·정서적 발달특성에 학문적, 정책적 측면에서 주목할 필요성을 제시했다는 측면에서 의의가 있다. This study aimed to examine the effects of parents’ over-control and adolescents’ depression and identity on self-regulated learning. A total of 2,054 adolescents (boys: 1,040, girls: 1,014) who participated in the sixth-wave panel survey of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS) were the subjects of this study. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlations and structural equation modeling using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 25.0. Based on the research hypothesis, the direct and indirect effects of parents’ over-control on adolescents’ self-regulated learning were examined. The results were as follows: First, parents’ over-control did not have a direct effect on adolescents’ self-regulated learning. Second, parents’ over-control did not have an indirect effect on adolescents’ self-regulated learning through depression. However, parents’ over-control had an indirect effect on adolescents’ self-regulated learning through adolescent identity. The consecutive indirect path that linked parents’ over-control, adolescents’ depression, identity, and self-regulated learning was also significant. With few extant previous studies, the results from this study highlight the need to focus on the roles of adolescents’ socioemotional development and relevant parenting behaviors in understanding the factors that influence adolescents’ self-regulated learning.

        맞벌이 부모의 일-가정 갈등, 온정적 양육행동 및 학령초기 아동의 문제행동 간의 관계

        Objective: The present study examined the influences of fathers and mothers work-family conflict on their warm parenting, as well as their early school-aged childrens internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors. Methods: The data were drawn from the eighth wave Panel Study of Korea Children (PSKC) data. A total of 558 dual-earner parents and their first graders from elementary school (boys: 281, girls: 277) were the subjects of this study. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were used for the dyadic data analysis. Results: First, significant actor effects were found between fathers and mothers work-family conflict and their warm parenting. Second, a significant partner effect was found between fathers work-conflict and mothers warm parenting. Third, fathers work-family conflict showed a significant direct effect on childrens internalizing problem behaviors. However, fathers warm parenting was not significantly related to childrens problem behaviors. Fourth, mothers work family conflict did not show a direct effect on childrens problem behaviors. However, mothers warm parenting showed a mediating effect between mothers work-family conflict and childrens internalizing and externalizing problems. Mothers warm parenting also mediated between fathers work-family conflict and childrens externalizing problem behaviors. Conclusion: With few extant studies that explored work-family conflicts effect on parenting and childrens development, this study addressed the gap by showing interdependence between parents’ work-family conflict and warm parenting and their effects on childrens problem behaviors.

        청소년 자녀를 둔 저소득층 한부모가족 어머니들의 부모역할 경험에 대한 질적 연구

        The present study examined parental role experiences of low-income single mothers who were raising adolescents through a qualitative approach. A total of nine low-income single mothers who were raising early adolescents (ages 11-14) participated in the study. Data were collected through two individual in-depth interviews for each participant and analyzed through the six-step thematic analysis procedure. The following themes emerged: ‘Being a low-income single mother raising adolescents,’ ‘Facing changes in adolescent children,’ ‘Difficulties of raising adolescents and attempts at positive parenting,’ ‘Helps with raising adolescents,’ ‘Living as middle-aged single mothers,’ ‘Complex feelings for the adolescents,’ and ‘Expectations and hopes for the future.’ Overall, the mothers showed strong sense of responsibility for parenting and expressed hopes for the adolescents’ future in spite of the mothers’ own emotional and financial difficulties, insufficient social support and difficult mother-adolescent relationships. Intervention/policy approaches that consider the complex parental role experiences of low-income single mothers raising adolescents should be developed.

        아동양육시설 퇴소 청소년의 부모-자녀관계 경험에 관한 사례연구

        본 연구는 아동양육시설에서 퇴소한 만 24세 이하의 청소년을 대상으로, 입소 전, 입소 후, 그리고 퇴소 이후 과정에서 이들의 부모-자녀관계에 대한 의미와 관계경험에 대해 사례연구를 통해 심층적으로 살펴보았다. 연구 참여자는 원가족이 있는 4명의 퇴소 청소년들로, 2회 이상의 심층적 반구조화식 개별면접과 관찰을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 사례연구 방법을 통해 맥락과 구체적 사례에 초점을 두어 분석하였고, 사례 내 분석 및 사례 간분석 결과를 제시하였다. 사례 내 분석을 통해 발견된 부모-자녀관계의 구체적 경험은 물론 상이하였으나, 사례 간분석 결과 각 사례의 공통점 및 차이점을 보여주는 총 4가지 범주 및 14개 하위범주가 도출되었다. 부모-자녀관계 경험의 주요 4가지 범주는 ‘부모로부터 버려진 나,’ ‘소속감을 느끼지 못하는 나,’ ‘적응하기 위해 분투하는 나,’ ‘새로운 가족을 꿈꾸는 나’에 해당하였다. 국내의 아동양육시설 퇴소 청소년의 심리사회적 적응 및 미래의 긍정적 부모역할을 위한 개입이 절대적으로 부족한 가운데, 본 연구는 퇴소 청소년의 부모-자녀관계 경험의 특성을 고려한 적극적 개입 방안을 모색할 필요성을 보여준다. This study aimed to explore the parent-child relationship experiences of adolescents under the age of 24 who were discharged from child-care facilities. The adolescents' descriptions of parent-child relationship characteristics before and after they were placed in the child-care facilities and after discharge were explored. The participants were four discharged adolescents who had parents. Two/three in-depth individual interviews and observations were conducted to collect data. The within-case analysis revealed each participant’s unique parent-child relationship experiences throughout their life. After the between-case analysis, four main topics and fourteen subtopics emerged. The main topics were ‘Me, dumped by my own parents,’ ‘Me, having no sense of belonging,’ ‘Me, making every effort to get through difficult circumstances,’ and ‘Me, dreaming of a new family.’ It is problematic that few intervention efforts to help discharged adolescents exist in South Korea in terms of the adolescents' socio-emotional adjustment and preparation for future parenting roles. This study suggests that it is essential to provide intervention programs and policies that consider discharged adolescents’ past and current parent-child relationship characteristics and their impacts reflected in their current developmental characteristics.

        조부모의 학령 초기 손자녀 대리양육 경험에 관한 질적 연구

        Objective: The present study examined the perspectives of grandparents raising their grandchildren in an attempt to better understand grandparents’ child-rearing experience while providing kinship foster care to their primary-grade grandchildren. Methods: Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with eight grandparents who have raised one or two primary-grade (ages 8—10) grandchildren using a qualitative approach. Results: First, the participants viewed the reason for their kinship foster care as a failure for caring for their own children and accepted the present grandparent-care provision as their responsibility. Second, the participants communicated constant struggles with their own health and grandchild-care as well as positive/negative emotions associated with the care provision. Third, most of the participants did not fully understand the developmental needs of their primarygrade grandchildren. Fourth, the participants articulated concerns for their primary-grade grandchildrens learning, peer interactions, school adjustment, and extra-curricular activities. Lastly, the participants all agreed on hoping to raise grandchildren with good personality traits as members of a society and to have them fill the gap from the loss of their parents. Conclusion: Although most participants accepted the current circumstances as their obligation, they still noted difficulties in child-care provision. Given the developmental needs of grandchildren and the resource needs of grandparents, proper and continuous intervention approaches should be developed/provided.
