Discovering users demands is essential for successfully developing a service or product. Users perception and demand play a critical role in developing the Smart Design Platform that is a platform service helping thermal energy-intensive industrial facilities to more efficiently and easily design their products. This study investigates a process and analysis of perception and demands from the two viewpoints: technology providers and consumers who are targeted users of the Smart Design Platform. A preliminary online survey gained a total of 630 potential users’ feedbacks. It will demonstrate sufficient demands for the Smart Design Platform. For an advanced analysis of users’ demands, additional interviews will be conducted with technology providers and consumers.

This paper is to provide analysis model that can be used to investigate the improvement in energy efficiency for cooling tower by using fresh air. Numerical analysis of Air-cooled heat exchanger for single-phase flow with variations of outdoor air temperature has been performed. A complete set of correlations of the heat transfer in both refrigerant and air sides was employed for predicting the heat transfer rate. The numerical results derived from the correlations were verified with experimental results. The energy consumption for a hybrid cooling tower has been compared for variation of a outdoor air temperature. The results showed that the hybrid cooling tower in low outdoor temperature offers a significant improvement in energy efficiency. The thermal analysis aids significantly in the solution of the design problem of hybrid cooling tower.

All of the thermodynamic properties can be computed from the modified Benedict-Webb-Rubin(MBWR) equation of state and the ideal gas heat capacity, as detailed by Younglove and McLinden(1994). Also, the reduced molar Helmholtz free energy can be substituted for MBWR. This Helmholtz free energy model is the basis for the international standard formulation for R134a(Tillner-Roth and Baehr, 1994). The extended corresponding states(ECS) model of Huber and Ely(1994) for vapor pressure can be usefully applied because of the limited number of experimental studies. A correlation for the shape factors is found by mapping saturation boundaries of the fluids of interest onto the reference fluid(R134a). Simple numerical schemes for calculating Density and integrals of ideal gas heat capacity have been applied. Our results obtained are remarkably consistent with REFPROP(NIST, version 7) and experimental data.
