        유가철학에서 본 정의(正義)

        It is difficult to try to define the concept of ``justice``. While the Oriental term "義" means ``justice`` or "righteousness", that is the ethical concept, the concept of ``justice`` in the Western thoughts often is defined with ``social justice`` that mainly contains the social and political meanings. Discussions about ``justice`` in our society, of course, are not extricable from the questions of political philosophy in the Western society. I think that the concept of justice as ``fairness`` in the Western philosophy seems to be excluded with human emotion, moral feelings. ``Civil society`` in the Western world has been established by the theory of ``Social Contract`` which was base on the "rationality" in Modern age. On the other hand, the Confucian philosophy as the mainstream of Eastern thought emphasize that Justice should be based on moral human nature and then only has a true meaning. Because human is the subject which can compose the righteous society, can realize public justice. According to the viewpoint of Confucianism, social institutions(order, law) without moral subjectivity of human, could not realize the righteous society. From this basic viewpoint, political thought of Confucius also contains a lot of meaningful public ethics. Concept of Confucian "公(public)" cannot be regarded with the "public goodness" in modern society, but it`s meaning still has a lot of vitality in these days. In this paper, I tried to analyze the concept of "Justice" and it`s implications in the Confucian tradition, compared with definition of Western political philosophy. "Justice" is the most important concept in Eastern and Western political philosophy, relations to social justice, ideal society in human world. From a comparative analysis of Justice in Eastern and Western definition, it will provide for the ultimate principle and possibility of consilience between the East and the West.

        근대중국의 "제국"담론 고찰 -강유위, 양계초를 중심으로

        Modern China was facing the most serious crisis in its history. Since Opium Wars, the invasion of Western Powers had threatened the identity of ``China`` and requested the fundamental changeover of the imperial regime that had continued for 2000 years. The challenge for the intellectuals in modern China was how they could preserve ``China`` from external threats, which naturally led to the discussion on the change of the political system. This study will look into the discourse on ``Empire``, centering on Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao who are recognized as leading thinkers of China in transition. The discussion related with the construction of ``a nation state`` contained the thought that China should change into a modern ``Empire``, the characteristics of which were definitely revealed in Liang Qichao``s manifesto, New People(Xin Min Shuo, 新民說). At the same time, the lively debate on the ideal political structure was proceeding around the Idea of Datong(大同思想), which was represented by Kang Youwei. While Kang and Liang had the mentor/mentee relationship, they showed significant differences in political philosophies associated with the construction of a new state. Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao``s Ideas are at the core of Chinese modern political philosophies, and their discussion exercised far-reaching influence not only over academic field but also over political and social fields. This study will review the idea of ``Political Unity (da yitong 大一統)`` which ideologically supported the system of ``Empire``, and ``Gongyang theory of the Three Ages(三世說)``, suggested as the basis of ``Renewal and Reform(Bianfa, 變法)``. This process will enable us to understand Discourse on ``Empire`` of China at the turning point, and to identify the features of Chinese present political system.

        양계초의 `국가`와 `자유` 개념 고찰

        양계초는 근현대 중국에서 가장 영향력 있는 사상가 중의 한 명이다. 1900년대 초기 그가 제기한 `국가` 개념과 `국민` 계몽은 동아시아의 근대적 정치 체제 구성에 중요한 영향을 끼쳤다. 양계초의 사상은 시기적으로 분명한 차이를 보이며, 이는 어떤 역사적 사건을 계기로 한 경우가 많다. 양계초가 `민족국가` 수립에 관심을 보인 때는 1900년대 초반부터 1910년대 후반까지로 무술변법실패 후 일본 망명 시기이다. 이 글에서 주로 분석 대상으로 삼는 부분은 「신민설」 발표 이후 민족국가의 수립과 부흥을 주창하던 시기로, 이는 중국이 정치적 측면에서 민족국가로의 근대적 전환을 이룬 때이기도 하다. 양계초는 중국이 서구 열강에게 패배한 이유를 서양이 국가 체제를 갖춘 반면, 중국은 황제를 기점으로 한 제국 구도에서 벗어나지 못한 데 있다고 보았다. 아울러 자유로운 의식을 갖춘 국민의 유무 역시 큰 변수라고 보았다. 중국에는 없고, 서양에는 있는 국가와 국민이 결국 중국을 서구 열강에게 굴복하게 만든 셈이다. 양계초의 사상체계에 있어 가장 중요한 개념이 `국가`와 `자유`인 이유이다. 이 글은 양계초의 `국가`와 `자유` 개념을 중심으로, 근대중국에서 양계초의 정치·사회사상이 갖는 의미에 대해 살펴보았다. 양계초가 민족국가를 전면에 들고 나오면서, 중국의 새로운 정체는 구체적 현실성을 띠게 된다. 양계초가 염두에 둔 가장 큰 문제는 민족주의와 국가의 번영 사이의 관계로, 당시 위기에 빠진 중국을 구할 해법인 셈이다. 이는 중국을 `천하`라고 생각했던 전통적 사고관의 붕괴를 의미하며, 이상적 정치체계로 `국가`를 상정했다는 점에서 전근대의 정치사상과 근본적 차이를 보인다. Liang Qichao is one of the most influential thinkers in modern China. In the early 1900`s, the conception of nation and enlightenment of people that he suggested, had an important bearing on the Modern political system of East Asia. A system of Liang Qichao`s thought shows clear distinction at the time with the momentum as a historical event. It was the time of a exile and a stay in Japan after failure of the Reformation from the early of 1900`s to the late of 1910`s, that Liang Qichao was concerned with the establishment of nation-state. This article is concerned with the period of his advocating establishment and redevelopment of nation-state after publication of New People(新民說) and China achieved modern transformation in politics as a nation state. Liang Qichao thought that while the Western Powers had a system of state, China of emperor and empire had no choice but to be defeated by the West, and also it is important that people of nation should have a spirit of liberty. The modern nation and people which Western Europe has built up, could bring china to their marrowbone by western power. This is why Liang Qichao put emphasis on the nation and freedom as a most important conception of his thought. This paper is tried to analyze the conception of modern nation and freedom, and to examine the meaning of both conception in modern China. When Liang Qichao bring the concept of nation state to the forefront, New political identity of china became to have concrete reality. The main problem in which Liang Qichao had his mind, was a relation of nationalism and prosperity of nation, also was a solution to look for crisis of China. It means to be a collapse of traditional mind-set and a view of the world in China, and It showed the radical difference from political thought of premodern china, suggested with ideal political system.

        힐링(healing)과 동양 수양론

        최근 우리 사회에서 ‘힐링(healing)’에 대한 관심은 그 어느 때보다도 높다. 이는 한국 사회가 그만큼 심각한 정신적 긴장과 고통에 시달리고 있다는 반증이기도 하다. ‘힐링’에 대한 인문학적 관심이 높아지면서, 그 부작용 또한 심각하게 발생하고 있다. 학계의 이론적 논의가 충분히 진행되지 않은 상태에서 시작한 ‘힐링’ 열풍은, 인문학을 다른 사이비 치료와 비슷한 모습으로 만들고 있다. 철학이나 문학을 내세운 각종 치료들은 모처럼 대두된 인문학적 관심을 희화화(戱畵化)시킨다. 학문의 현실 참여에 대한 무관심이 초래한 인문학의 위기도 문제지만, 근본적 성찰 없이 ‘힐링’ 바람에 편승한 인문학 역시 반성해야 할 대상이다. 이 글은 ‘힐링’의 시대, 동양철학이 어떤 의미를 가지는가를 검토한 것이다. 동양철학은 유학이나, 불교, 그리고 도가 철학 모두 인간을 주제로 삼고 있으며, 수양론이 중심인 만큼, 우리 사회의 정신적 위기를 치유하는 실마리를 제공할 수 있으리란 기대가 있다. 동양 수양론은 철학치료 영역 전반에 걸쳐 이론적 관계를 맺고 있으며, 구체적인 치료모형 개발에 있어서도 의미 있는 이론을 제공하고 있다. 특히 유학은 우리 전통문화의 주류 이론으로서, 한국인의 정서와 의식에 중요한 영향을 미치고 있다. ‘도덕심’을 기반으로 인간의 존재 의미와 그 실천방안을 모색하는 것을 주축으로 한 수양론이 치유모델 개발에 의미를 갖는 이유이다. 오늘날 우리 사회에서 ‘마음의 병’으로 인해 발생하는 여러 문제점들은 자신의 삶에 대한 의미 상실과 자기 조절 능력 부족에 그 원인이 있다. 동양의 의학 전통은 자신 안에 있는 치유 본능을 일깨우고, 질병에 대한 대증적 치료보다 인간과 자연에 대한 통합적 이해를 전면에 둔다. 이런 측면에서, 오늘날 우리사회의 대안치료 개발에 의미있는 시사점을 주고 있다. 이 글에서 제시한 ‘수양치료 모형’은 동양 수양론을 기반으로, 우리 사회의 ‘마음의 병’을 치유할 수 있는 방안을 모색한 것이다. Recently in our society, the public interest in "healing" is higher than ever before. It could be seen as a sign that Korean society is suffering from serious mental tension and pain to that extent. As the humanistic interest in "healing" gets higher, its harmful side effects becomes even severer. The fever of "healing", which was started without sufficient theoretical discussions in the academic circle, is making humanities into something like pseudo-therapy. Various kinds of treatments putting signs of philosophy and literature is making the long-awaited humanistic interest ridiculous. While the crisis of humanities caused from the indifference to academic engagement is a problem, humanities riding the "healing" wave without fundamental introspection should be a target of reflection. This study will examine what the meaning of Oriental Philosophy is in the age of "healing". The Oriental Philosophies including Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, have investigated the human as the main subject, and the Oriental self-cultivation has been a core concern. Therefore, they are expected to supply with some clues which can cure the mental crisis of our society. The Oriental self-cultivation has theoretical relations with the whole fields of philosophical therapy, and provides meaningful theories for the development of the specific treatment models. Especially, Confucianism, the main theory of the our traditional culture, has had a significant influence on Koreans" emotions and consciousness. That is the reason the Oriental self-cultivation, which has the basis on morality and mainly search the meaning of the human existence and its ways to practice, is so meaningful in the development of the specific treatment models. The main causes of the any problems in our modern society, which originated from the "disease of mind", are the loss of the meaning of the life and the scarcity of the autoregulation ability. Oriental medical tradition reminds people of the healing instinct in themselves, and gives priority to the synthetic understanding of both human and nature over the symptomatic treatment of diseases. This aspect offers an important clue to the development of the alternative therapy in our present society. "The model of self-cultivation" in this study, is based on the theory of Oriental self-cultivation, and aims at searching for the ways to cure the "disease of mind" of our society.

        근현대 중국 이상사회론의 대두와 전개

        Modern China had a experience attempted to build an ideal society by the process of ``revolution``. It is a very rare case which was reflected reality by a political philosophy as the ideal, and also is a good example to identify the combination of the ideal and the real. In this period, Theories of Chinese utopian society strongly reflected philosophical thoughts of Chinese intellectuals and the will to act in that time. These theories had been developed by complicated patterns: from discord of ``East and West`` to the modern conflicts between ``capitalism and socialism``. At present, China has tried to run contradictory systems of ``market economy`` and ``socialism``, it has been embodied in a new paradigm called ``Chinese socialism``. A modern change in Confucianism as a political philosophy has been proceeded by demand of Chinese socialism. Contents in Chinese theories of utopian society has included Confucian thoughts and theory of socialism as well as western utopian thoughts. This study is tried to examine the theory of utopian society & it``s origin in modern China, to analyze it``s philosophical meanings and relations with current chinese socialism. Especially, it is important to discuss Kang You-wei(康有爲)``s theory of Great hamony(大同), Chinese anarchism, Sun Wen(孫文)``s theory: Three Principles of the People(三民主義) and current theory of Harmonious(和諧) Socialism.

        C57BL/KsJ-db/db 제2형 당뇨병 마우스에서 발아일품벼 추출물의 항당뇨효과

        본 연구에서는 제2형 당뇨병 모델인 C57BLKS/J-db/db마우스에서 발아일품벼 추출물의 농도별로 급여한 후 혈당조절에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 조사하였다. C57BLKS/J-db/db 마우스에게 급여한 발아일품벼 추출물의 양에 따라 5군 즉, 정상군(Normal Control: NC), 당뇨대조군(Diabetic Control: DC), 1% 발아벼 추출물 급여군(DM-1% GIRRE), 0.5% 발아벼 추출물 급여군(DM-0.5%GIRRE), 0.25% 발아벼 추출물 급여군(DM-0.25%GIRRE)으로 나누었다. 8주 동안 매일 식이 섭취량과 음료섭취량 및 매주 체중과 공복혈당을 측정하고 마지막 주에 경구포도당 부하검사(OGTT)를 실시하였으며, 부검 시 혈액을 채취하여 혈청인슐린 농도와 당화혈색소를 측정하였다. 그 결과, DM-1% GIRRE군에서 당뇨유발에 의한 체중감소 및 당뇨 증상 중에 다음(poly-dipsia), 다식(polyphasia) 등이 어느 정도 완화되고 있음을 알 수 있다. DM-1%GIRRE군에서 당뇨동물의 공복 혈당, 경구 내당능 검사, 혈중 HbA1c 수준을 유의적으로 낮추었지만, 혈장 인슐린 농도는 당뇨실험군들 간에는 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이상의 결과를 종합해보면 발아일품벼 추출물의 급여가 혈당상승을 억제하는 효과가 있는 것으로 생각되며 그 기전에 대해서는 향후 추가 연구가 필요하다고 본다. This study was performed to investigate the effect of germinated Ilpum rough rice extract on blood glucose in C57BL/KsJ-db/db mice. The mice were divided into several groups: normal control (NC), diabetic control (DC), those fed with 0.25% germinated Ilpum rough rice extract (DM-0.25%GIRRE), those fed with 0.5% germinated Ilpum roughrice extract (DM-0.5%GIRRE) and those fed with 1% germinated Ilpum rough rice extract (DM-1%GIRRE). After 8 weeks of treatment, body weight, water intake, and diet intake of the DM-1%GIRRE group were significantly lower than the other DM groups. Blood glucose levels of the DM-1%GIRRE group were significantly lower compared to the DC group. Fasting blood glucose HbA1c level and total glucose tolerance test were significantly lower in the DM-1%GIRRE groups compared to the DC group. There was no significant difference in serum insulin level among each group. Therefore, the results of this study demonstrate that germinated Ilpum rough rice extract alleviates many of the symptoms of diabetes in genetically obese mice and may offer a possibility as a therapeutic supplement for the normalization of blood glucose levels in humans with hyperglycemia. It may also have beneficial effects in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
