The present study investigates the influence of shifting the interface and applying a countersink for each fastening hole in the flange area of a fuel boost pump on the natural frequency of the same pump and the margin of safety at the flange area. Since the flange interface has moved from the lower surface to the upper surface, the moment arm from the flange interface to the pump CG reduced by the flange thickness. A standard countersink has been implemented for each fastening hole in the flange area. The overall margin of safety at the flange area has increased significantly by shifting the interface even though some negative effect has been generated by the countersinks.
