토양으로 전염되는 균행벽은 조기발견과 사전에 병해진단이 어려우며, 외부증상이 나타나 방제를 할 경우에도 치료보다는 주변 식물체에 감염 예방이 급선무이다.

Purpose: Malignant glaucoma is a rare complication of anterior segment surgery. The authors present a case of a malignant glaucoma-like phenomenon during cataract surgery in a primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patient. Case summary: A 74-year-old man with POAG underwent a cataract surgery in his left eye. After phacoemulsificiation, sodium hyaluronate was used to form the capsular bag for intraocular lens implantation. Following this procedure, the capsular bag space and anterior chamber became shallow. Intraocular pressure (IOP) elevated, and the shallowing of the anterior chamber and capsular bag space continued to a dangerous level. The surgical procedure was stopped and postponed for two days. After two days, IOL was successfully implanted in the posterior bag. Conclusions: Although the preoperative ophthalmologic examination failed to reveal a zonular problem, there was a possibility for a small area of zonular defect. A malignant glaucoma-like phenomenon was suspected to have occurred due to leakage of sodium hyaluronate or balanced salt solution into the vitreous through a small area of zonular dialysis. If a similar condition, occurs delayed surgery for IOL implantation would be more effective than vitrectomy or laser treatment. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2010;51(8):1150-1154

Purpose: For the correction of ptosis in monocular elevation deficiency (MED) patients, levator resection or frontalis sling operation with various materials has been used. The authors present a case of a monocular elevation deficiency patient who was treated for ptosis using the levator muscle as a frontalis sling. Case summary: A six-year-old male patient with left monocular elevation deficiency underwent a frontalis sling operation using a levator muscle. The patient had received left inferior rectus recession, left medial rectus resection and left lateral rectus recession with transposition. An upper eyelid skin crease incision was made, and the anterior surface of the levator muscle was exposed as far as the Whitnall ligament. A levator muscle flap was then formed from aponeurosis by incising the full width of the levator horizontally, just below the Whitnall ligament and anchored to the frontalis muscle. The surgical result was satisfactory as the preoperative MRD1 was 0.5 mm and the postoperative MRD1 was 2.5 mm. There were no complications such as keratitis or wound problems. Conclusions: The levator muscle flap can be an effective frontalis suspension material to correct ptosis in an MED patient with poor levator function. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2010;51(2):282-285
