Fracture models and criteria of adhesive with two parameters, namely GC and σmax, have been developed to describe the fracture process of adhesive joints. Cohesive zone model(CZM) is a representative two parameter failure criteria approach. In CZM, σmax is a critical, limiting maximum value of the stress in the damage zone ahead of the crack and is assumed to have some physical significance in adhesive failure. Based on CZM and finite element analysis method, the relationship between fracture load and adhesive properties, as GIC and(σmax)I, was investigated in adhesively bonded joint tensile test and T-peel test. The two parameters in tensile mode loading were evaluated by using the relationship. The value of GIC evaluated by proposed method showed close agreement with analytical solution for tapered double cantilever beam(TDCB) test which proposed in an ASTM standard.

In this study, the crash analysis was carried out to evaluate the influence of steel sheet grade and thickness on weight reduction and crash characteristics for front side member which had an important role of absorbing the impact energy during front and side impact. In order to achieve the aim of this study the reverse engineering was applied to obtain 3D model of front side member from BIW for the FE simulation. In the result, the crashworthiness of front side member is considerably improved with steel sheet strength and thickness increase. Also, the weight reduction in automotive parts for the improvement of the fuel efficiency can be easily achieved with applying high strength steel without deterioration of crashworthiness.

This study presents a study on the influence of process parameters(semi-die angle, die reduction, friction condition, and bearing length) in drawn wire on residual stresses were investigated using FE-analysis. In this study, semi-die angle and die reduction have a significant effect on the residual stresses at the surface of drawn wire. In the previous study, in order to reduce the residual stresses, several methods were suggested: addition of axial tension, application of skin pass, straightening in multi-roll straightener etc. In this study, it can be known that the concurrent application of skin pass with low die reduction and low semi-die angle at the final stage of drawing operation reduces dramatically the both axial and hoop residual stresses after drawing.
