Researches to reutilize waste heat from industrial processes have gained a lot of interest, recently. Steam is the most preferred heat source in industrial processes. Therefore the heat pump which reproduce waste heat as process steam, can give a high energy saving effect. To produce steam, the heat pumps should have operating points of 100℃ or higher. To meet this operation range, R245fa refrigerant-based cycle was developed to reduce condensation pressure. In addition, by implementing flashing steam production technology, the average temperature difference in high pressure heat exchanger was reduced resulting system efficiency improvement. In 2017, prototype products that produce 0.5 tons of steam per hour was developed and it achieved world-class performance. To implement the system into the industrial processes, control logic that reflects the characteristics of the flashing process, in which the condensate circulation flow rate and the steam production flow rate are inconsistent, has been developed. Demonstration site was constructed in one domestic chemical plant.
