This paper describes a low-cost single-phase active power filler, which consists of a half-bridge PWM inverter with a simple control circuit. In order to verify the performance of proposed active power filter, many computer simulations with EMTP codes and experimental works with a hardware prototype were done. Both results confirm that the proposed active power filter shows excellent performance to eliminate the harmonics generated in the single-phase non-linear load. The active power filter has advantage of low implementation cost and compact size, using a half-bridge inverter and a simple control circuit with only one current sensor. So, it can be fabricated as a plug-in type. This paper shows the necessity and a good possibility to apply such advantage to the electric railway system

Due to the demand for high-output motors in the limited space between the wheels in an electric train, self-ventilating traction motors have been used for many years. periodical disassembly maintenance is necessary to remove the small Quantities of dust that enter the motor from the open-air ventilation. Reducing this burden, as well as increasing efficiency and reducing noise, would benefit the next generation of motors To address these needs, KRRI is developing a fully enclosed type traction motor, a fully enclosed type traction motor with outer fans, a high-efficiency permanent-magnet synchronous motor and a direct-drive motor(DDM)as traction motors for the next generation of trams.

It is one of the most effective methods for improving the performance of electric railway vehicles to make better the wheel-rail adhesion characteristics. To study adhesion characteristic is to develop the equivalent reduction machine to experiment on the adhesion system. The experiment system makes it possible to change the wheel-rail adhesion force with various adhesion parameters, and therewith to test the adhesion control system with the reduction machine in a laboratory. In this paper, for improving adhesion performance shows actually control methods.

차세대전동차는 대불시험선에서 1년동안 신뢰성 시험이 진행 중에 있다. 이 차량은 6량 1편성으로 제작되었으며, 신뢰성 검증을 위해 주행시험을 하고 있다. 차세대전동차는 장치별 주요기기 검사항목을 정하여 기능을 확인하고 있다. 입/출고검사, 3일 검사, 3월검사, 승무원 출발전검사시 주기적으로 주요 장치별 외관 및 기능 상태를 철저히 점검하여 최적의 운영 상태를 유지하도록 함으로써 시험선에서의 전동차 신뢰성에 차질이 없도록 업무를 수행하고 있다. The AEMU(Advanced EMU) consists of a 6-car production. AEMU has been performed to verify the reliability. The AEMU is differentiated than the existing. Several new technology and subsystem are developed and adopted to the EMU. The followings are the subsystem developed and adopted for the EMU. Direct Drive Motor (DDM), plug-in door, sliding step, wide gangway, pure electric braking system, single arm pantograph, individual motor control system and passenger information system. The reliability tests are performed by the running process on the specific line to review that the reliability prediction meets with the real operating condition. In this paper, so far the reliability results of AEMU are presented.
추진인버터 시험을 위한 실시간 부하 시뮬레이터에 관한 연구

A newly-built inverter has to undergo a series of stress tests in the final stage of production line. This can be achieved by connecting it to a dynamometer consisting of a three-phase machine joined by a rigid shaft to a DC load machine. The latter is controlled to create some specific load characteristic needed for test. In this paper a test method is proposed, in which no mechanical equipment is needed. The suggested test stand consists only of a inverter to be tested and a simulator converter. Both devices are connected back-to-back on th AC-side via smoothing reactors. The simulator operates in real-time as an equivalent load circuit, so that the device under test will only notice the behaviour of a three-phase machine under consideration of the load. In oder to prove rightness of the suggested test method, the simulation and actural experiment carried out emulation for a 2.2 kW induction motor.

We are developing the Advenced EMU(Electric Multiple Unit) as the commuter trains of 21st century. As we proceeded with the development of various systems and components, we built a prototype with the objective of evaluating and investigating these system changes comprehensively. Needs of EMU trains are cost reduction, Improvement of passenger Convenience, Improvement of Vehicle reliability, of energy reduction Consumption, Environmental friendliness.
