Since 2003 when the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) became a responsibility of management in workplaces, the effectiveness of the Korean WMSDs law has been concern for many stakeholders of this measure including workers, workers' union, researchers, professionals, and managers as well as officials in governments. WMSDs are known to be resulted from overburden on workers' body due to tasks required at their workplaces. Korean government enacted a law to require management of companies to take measures to prevent musculoskeletal disorders at work. The objectives of this paper is to review activities and actions taken to comply with this WMSDs law and problems encountered in last 7 years since the law came intoforce and suggest resolutions for problems so that this law can contribute to fulfill the real purpose of the law and make better workplaces in Korea.

A lot of models have been developed for prevention of human errors. Nevertheless most of them failed to attract attention of industry which has been looking for an integrative model that can show practical countermeasures as well as causal factors of human errors. This research aimed to develop a comprehensive model that can mainly be applied to industrial fields. Therefore, in the model, it was tried to explain sequences of an operator's information process that might cause human errors on one hand, and life cycle stages of facilities involved when human errors occur on the other hand. This model was validated by using a typical accident case. With the comprehensive model presented in this research, one could follow up the sequence of human errors caused by operators, and errors made at the design stage which might cause accidents could be tracked. As a consequence, it is expected that much attention would be paid to preventing human errors in industrial fields since safety personnel can easily find out cause of human errors throughout life cycle stages of man-machine facilities if utilizing the suggested model.

Though a lot of industrial accidents resulted from human errors, conventional researches on human errors concerned on their own research objectives so that they were not applicable directly to industrial fields which require derivation of countermeasures as well as causal factors of human errors. To assist industrial workers who look for a comprehensive model which can explain true causes of human errors in order to prevent industrial accidents, this research aimed to develop a new integrative analysis model by synthesizing conventional models and to validate it with some industrial accident cases.

There have been many efforts to prevent accidents in Korea for the last 25 years. Many measures in the area of hardware sciences including electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, etc. were applied to eliminate or at least reduce causes of accidents. However, the accidents rate has not been reduced much despite of these measures. This research aimed to find real causes of these accidents and to suggest a comprehensive model that can mainly be applied to industrial fields to find potential or existence of human errors during the pre-installation stage or after an accident. We tried to explain sequences of an operator's information process that might cause human errors on one hand, and life cycle stages of facilities involved when human errors occur on the other hand. With this comprehensive model presented in this research, one can follow up the sequence of human errors caused by operators. Further, errors made at the design stage which could be a main cause of accidents can be tracked. It is recommended that this comprehensive model should be used to prevent human errors in industrial fields since safety personnel can easily find out errors or error potentials through the life cycle stages of manmachine facilities.

The objective of this study is to develop a new system that is simpler to be used to keep the safe workplace at the small food manufacturers. There are many small food manufacturers which employee less than 10 workers and thus cannot handle the complicated requirements in safety, health, quality, food quality, and musculoskeletal disorders intervention. This system is intended to develop a system which can be easily implemented but comprehensive to reflect main points in musculoskeletal disorders intervention. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, KOSHA 18001, GAP and ISO22000.
